This video will show you how Guitar Hero-issued drums function in the RockBand series of games on Nintendo Wii, regardless of whether you are using the first-generation drum set that shipped with Guitar Hero World Tour or the second-generation drum set that shipped with Band Hero and Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock. This video also explores how a Guitar Hero drum set functions in Rock Band 3's Pro-Mode as a Pro-Drum set.
Guitar Hero drum set compatibility has been confirmed first-hand (but is not limited to) the following Rock Band games on Nintendo Wii:
Green Day Rock Band
LEGO Rock Band
Rock Band 2
Rock Band 3
Rock Band Country Track Pack 2
The Beatles Rock Band

Compatibility is sadly different from console to console. Yes Guitar Hero or Band Hero drum kits will function with certain Rock Band titles, but not the SAME Rock Band titles as on the Nintendo Wii for example (the older the title after 2008, the more likely support will be). Also, some RockBand titles will not even substitute the orange crash/ride cymbal as a blue drum, and will instead just ignore it in favour of the blue drum pad.

Glad it could help. I can tell you right now, coordination on the drums is one of those things that looks dead simple but takes some getting used to (especially when it comes to the kick pedal). With time and some practice I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.

Yep, the configuration on RB3 was odd when compared to earlier versions (where you could use either the blue drum pad or the corresponding cymbal for blue).
@RodneyDickson
@RodneyDickson 13 лет назад
@MoosTheMonk Nope, no configurations to go through, just plug and play. The order of the four pads from left to right as they translate on a Guitar Hero drum kit: red drum, yellow cymbal, orange cymbal, green drum (you can basically ignore the blue drum, as the orange cymbal replaces the blue drum, and if you accidentally hit the blue drum, it still behaves as a blue drum, so you essentially have two pads that you can hit to create a blue drum hit).

Absolutely! I myself used to drum on a real kit many years ago, and these games really do improve your drumming ability. I now play better than I ever did, real kit OR plastic kit. Also, the more pads (surfaces to hit), the better the instruction. RockBand with a 4-pad configuration is not as realistic as Guitar Hero's 5-pad kit, but this does not compare to the realism of Rock Band 3's Pro-Drums 8-pad configuration (but prepare to pay $200 for this drum kit alone if you want to commit to this)

Well, here's the thing: as shown in the video, you have to set your Rock Band 3 game to ONLY have the green cymbal active, with the yellow and blue cymbals inactive. What this means is that you will not see any yellow or blue cymbal note markers, and instead will only see yellow and blue gems, which can be hit by hitting the yellow cymbal and blue drum pad respectfully. Green cymbal note markers can be hit by hitting the orange cymbal, and green gems can be hit by hitting the green drum pad.

Hey, I know this is like around 4 years late, but do you still know what works with Rock Band 3? I've just recently got Guitar Hero drums for Rock Band 3, and don't want to play pro. What are the color coordinations on normal?
@RodneyDickson
@RodneyDickson 8 лет назад
+YourOneOpportunity Nope, you cannot sadly. You can only play 4 pads + kick pedal on Rock Band 3 with a Guitar Hero drum kit.

Thanx for uploading this! I have a question, would the drums work directly with The Beatles Rock Band? Or are there any configurations needed? I wanna get one and not sure if they do. Cheers! :^)

Sorry to ask this even though you have said it in the video, I just want to clarify so I am 100% certain so I don't waste my time and money buying Rock Band 2. I have the GH: Warriors of Rock drums for Wii. Will it work with Rock Band 2 on the Wii for sure? And as a little side question, can you still download songs on Rock Band 2 on the Wii? Thank you for your time :)
@RodneyDickson
@RodneyDickson 8 лет назад
+Sir Labradoodle Yep, your GH Warriors kit will function in Rock Band 2, however only using 4 pads + the kick pedal (so no blue drum pad in use). As for purchasing songs, I haven't a clue, but I believe it's been discontinued.

A Guitar Hero / Band Hero drum kit WILL work with Rock Band games on Xbox 360, yes, but Rock Band 3's Pro-Drums mode does not function with a Guitar Hero / Band Hero kit on Xbox 360: it only permits this functionality on Nintendo Wii.

I'm about to get these drums tomorrow. Now I was under the illusion that these drums couldn't work for rock band 3 pro mode. Obviously this video states otherwise but I was wondering what you do when a yellow gem appears and a blue symbol appears? Does the yellow symbol and blue pad work for both notes?
@RodneyDickson
@RodneyDickson 12 лет назад
Aww man, I'm sorry my assumption was wrong. Figured they'd develop the instrument interfacing the same for all systems. Sorry it didn't work out.

What are you talking about? My orange cymbal has never been the equivalent of the blue pad on Rock Band 1 and 2. My blue pad on my Guitar Hero set has always been the equivalent of the blue pad on Rock Band 1 and 2. I've never found it confusing because you see blue, you hit blue. It's just a little odd sometimes.

Unbelievable! What an oversight on Harmonix's part (including BackBone/Foundation 9 if on Wii)! Sorry you can't enjoy Pro Mode with your handedness and drum kit. I trust the standard 4-pad mode works properly using the Guitar Hero drum kit, even in lefty mode, yes?
@RodneyDickson
@RodneyDickson 11 лет назад
Forgive me, I don't follow. How would playing lefty mode on RB3 using a GH drum kit be difficult?

Are you playing on Nintendo Wii?

well the regular lefty drums for rb3 on a gh kit is fine on everything, except that the yellow hi hat/cymbal is used as a middle tom for fills which confuses the crap outta me because im an actual drummer ... but it's whatever haha

Ye. I had to go to the Pro Drums training to turn the symbol option on as specified in your video. As for being able to select Pro Mode I assumed it would be plug and play. Like I said. I don't even get the option to play pro mode as it won't let me select it lol
@RodneyDickson

And you followed the steps precisely as laid out in this video?

Just got rock band 3 and I have the warriors of rock drums but it won't allow me to select pro drums. I have made sure the song has pro drums but it won't let me select me. Is it because I'm on an xbox 360?

Will this work for PS3 And can I just export all the rockband songs to rockband 3 so they can be in pro mode ?
@RodneyDickson
@RodneyDickson 8 лет назад
Provided your drum kit is a RockBand 2 or + drum kit for PS3 with the Pro-Cymbal attachments, then you can play any downloaded or imported RockBand DLC song in Rock Band 3's Pro-Mode. Guitar Hero drum kits cannot be used for RockBand 3's Pro Mode on consoles other than Wii, and on Wii Pro-Mode with a Guitar Hero drum kit is so limited that it is almost not worth playing.

Hey so you showed how to make guitar hero drums work for rock band, can it work vice versa
@RodneyDickson

+Freefall27 Yeah, Rock Band drums should function on all Guitar Hero games that support drum kits, just like that, right out of the box : )

Because the pad colors are flipped, I cant play on pro mode...the green pad for righty acts as a low tom, but it acts as snare for leftys. When i activate the green cymbal it still activates the orange cymbal, but when i see it on screen it acts as the red cymbal for the (lefty) red low tom... problem is that the orange cymbal is above the green pad, not the red tom... so its like the cymbals are reversed AND our hi hat is the blue pad =( lol I can play righty, just not the fills though.
