Its not about Gujaratis but the mindset which can be imbibed by any of us. I chose the mindset of 1. Baniyas of Gujarat to finding oppurtunities to make money 2. Marwadis of Rajasthan to be focused to maintain money minded 3. Chettiyars of Tamilnadu to remain humble when you have money.

My husband's top clients/friends are Gujarati in US. Our families go out a lot and they are truly geniuses as far as money/business is concerned. We should always be learning from everyone!

As a Gujrati who has only doctors, engineers and MBAs in the family and No business I can say that it depends on your end goal and how you have been brought up, Education is very very important even if you end up doing business. Money is important too but it should not be the only focus. Right balance along with a mindset of helping others when you have more than you need should lead to happy worthy life. Money after certain level just becomes indulgence like if you have a decent car, I would care less if it’s BMW or Porche.

I am a Gujarati and my 18 months old granddaughter is being given her first lessons in money management .We generally live frugally and do a lot of community work and also value time.Our simple food habits ensure very few visits to doctors and hospitals.A substantial portion of our incomes automatically goes to savings avenues.

Being a Bengali i can say that im bengal the 60s-70s parents have taught only one thing to their kids - get good marks in school and get a government job. For this reason you will see that even for a small post with 200-300 vacancy, aspirants in lakhs are applying for that job because they jave no other skill set. And many useless BA, MA degree guys are doing job as a private school teacher with a salary of 10000-15000. And for that salary they are even going ro faraway states. Bengal youths are doomed completely, no skills whatsoever and will lead a pathetic life. They can only think of teacher, professor and doctor jobs. And with time the teaching job has lost its glamour and respect as well. Thats why you will see unemployment in states like bihar , west bengal has shot through the roof as here the parents of the kids taught them from childhood that sarkari naukri is the greatest and that go on reading and get the degrees and one day you will get a job as knowledge is supreme. But times have changed, only theory knowledge is useless.

I am from south telugu community we have big problem in caste system. My family focus only in good paying job. My community don't support me. I was born poor and I will die poor and If I dont have good job then my parents will not be getting appericated or respected. And we are always ruled by big Other castes like Reddy and chowdary. If this world to be started destorying it should be stating in telugu states.

NIRMA--My father is a physio who did physiotherapy to him.. he said that to do marketing , he sent his team to shop pretending as ustomers and asking that whether they had nirma soap and then after many team memebrs did this after few days he send another team who started selling nirma soap.. so this was one of the marketing strategy nirma owner had.
