Speaking of VATS, just wanna point out that it was designed as an alternative, NOT A FIX to the normal gunplay. MATN did a video essay on this ages ago debunking it and examining why VATS work like it does.
I thought I mentioned Bethesda also used VATS to make it easier for non-FPS players (fans of TES probably) to play the game. But I guess I skipped over that line in the script
@@Mutant_Mods To add to what the other guy said, it's also a very cool way to transition the 2D combat system to 3D combat and keep that part of Fallout 1 and 2's DNA going, instead of it being left behind and only in those games
I disable my vats with a mod making the distance for vats zero so you can't detect with vats. JAMS bullet time mod is a good alternative for vats because it's still up to YOU to make the shots and you can edit the mod with MCM to change AP and other mechanics.
MATN accurately brakes down how in bethesda developed fallouts, vats is meant an an alternative playstyle, meaning if you build your character around it its possible to only ever fight using vats, but in New Vegas its rebalanced to work like the aimed shots of fallout 1/2 where it can never replace regular shots entirely but it's always a useful tool no matter your build@@titanics.o.s2101

It might be a well-known secret, but the chem Steady has a hidden effect. In addition to reducing spread outside of VATS, nearly all shots in VATS will have 95% (sometimes seems like 100%) accuracy.
im literally making a a fallout new vegas mod list based entirely on this guys videos. Let me tell you, i dont think ive ever played such an amazing game. between the joy i felt bringing the mods together (with mutant mods tutalage of course) the joy i felt people made these mods, and the absolutely beautiful product of a game thats results. I highly recommend taking the time to follow his videos to replay the game. im about 30 hours in, and having near perfect stability despite the coming up on 200 mods.
@@dankbonkripper2845 If you make this list, will you be sharing it? And will it be compatible with Tail of Two wastelands? Thinking about replaying Fallout 3 aswell but would be cool if it could be played with these mods in the video!
@LG1ikLx I'm having some friends come over, have a few kinks to work out. But I have exactly 250 mods as 6 am on Friday the 26th that make the game 4k, add in loads of mechanics, absolutely upscale everything, and added in some cut content akin to the kotor restoration mod, and once I solve an interior lighting and plant load order issue, hopefully here later today, I'd have an otherwise fully remastered version of new vegas running, using 99.9% NMM handled mods, and maybe 10-15 GUNNETWORK mods. This isnt my first time modding, but it's my first time ever stuffing the mod list past maybe 30-40, and for my first time pretty good. But want to tighten the bugs and I will most likely cobble together some video that I'd the equivalent of a glorified add to a Google document listing everything yes :)
@LG1ikLx Also, Fallout New Vegas Only. the game is unstable enough as is. In the spirit of remaining true to my own personal ideal remaster, it's New Vegas centered only, and no Open strip mod, for the purposes stability. Completely redone lighting engine, model skeletons, weapon animations and inspection, etc etc, anything and everything I can think of that adds to the game I feel I could see Obsidian trying to make.and I want this to also be my pseudo "final build ever", I'll use this as my base copy from here on out, so I don't want anything crazy right out the bat, but it's very ready and held down by fan patches to accept any mods added that you want after that!
One issue im having is in fpp while ads the guns kinda 'lag' while looking around, i only have mods from this video installed and the mods from the graphics video. Anyone knows how to fix that? (Im pretty new to modding)
Just a heads up for anyone trying to replicate this list: The Anniversary Animation Pack from Hitman47101 already includes Iron Sights Recoil Animations. It is entirely redundant if you're already using the anniversary pack. The mod author of Iron Sights Recoil Animations, Bunslinger, even said so himself. Quote: "29 February 2024, 12:28AM" "if you're using the anniversary pack it's redundant, yeah" Feels like a pretty big oversight from Mutant_Mods since he already includes the Anniversary Animations in this vid.
I followed this guid when choosing the mods for my first modded play through of New Vegas. Love the recommendations!! the JAM (just assorted mod) is my favorite add on and I discovered it while downloading the others. Great Video! Sneeky placement of the key ;)
Thanks for putting things like this together. All the mods have changed so much since the Gopher era and it’d be impossible to find the best mods without someone doing testing and compilation
Well, about gunplay and stuffs. The "Realistic Health Damage Carry Weight and Feral Ghouls - DUST inspired" (I know, it's really long mod name) Really did a great job for me.
i could not think of anything less fun than having my gun recoil into my face like i'm only lossely gripping the weapon even when it's a nail gun with no combustion
Yeah, as per usual with "mod showcase" videos, they feel like it's made by someone who played 1 hour with them at best. Half of these leave me wondering "why would I bloat the load order with that?" A bit disappointed, but my expectations were unrealistically high when I read the title of the vid.
Anyone who is having major stuttering in big gun fights, get rid of the 3D sound mod. For some reason during gun fights it completely kills performance to the point of a game being next to unplayable.
Another warning, Walking Inertia might jank up your movement speed unless you know exactly what you are doing. I would recommend skipping it unless you read all installation instructions meticulously.
Hey I’m wondering if anyone could help me, I’m trying to get the bullet time vats to work, but the outlines aren’t showing up. I have JAM and Bullet Time Improved installed, and I’m pretty sure I have all the settings on correctly. Just wondering if I’m missing something
This happens to me as well, usually when I’m closer to the targets they show up but anything past mid range is a really just a 50/50 on highlight and numbers Could be because of game graphics and the settings you have but that’s just a guess🤷🏻♂️
I forgot to comment but I love this video ESPECIALLY the gunplay soundscape mods, they're so good. Everything in this video is super good. You, Mortyyy and Hitman47101 are my favorite FNV content creators. You guys make awesome showcases for great mods. Make more, more, MORE!
One mod I'd recommend is centered 3rd person camera. Basically does what it says on the tin, the camera is behind the player instead of over their right shoulder. Makes lining up close range attacks in 3rd person easier, especially with shotguns & melee weapons
I don't know if it is possible, or it will cause a very strong drop in performance. but having something like inertia in the movement of NPCs would be incredible because it is jarring that you move well but others Like rusty robots
@@reidwallace9210 maybe, although in the video, he didn't mention it and the npc's seemed to still have their vanilla animations with only the ragdolls mod
@@m-jenny1649 The enemies indeed use Dramatic Inertia animations instead of vanilla in this video, but it seems like only sometimes (I think Mutie might have had vanilla animations on during some portions of the video). Anyway, installing Dramatic Inertia along with Realistic Movement will have your NPCs and 3rd-person character looking as smooth as ever.
Love the vids! Recently lost access to my accounts due to being locked out of my Gmail, so did try to redeem that sneaky (and lovely!) steam code, but somebody had already gotten it! Congrats to that person, but did just want to mention it so others might not face the same disappointment. Regardless, very awesome to have had the chance to grab the game again! Thanks Mutant Mods!
"If you are a retired war veteran, those 8 mods will surely trigger your PTSD" coming from someone who has played hundreds of hours of Fallout 3 and New Vegas(unmodded)... and who has been shot at in real life by various calibers.... the surprise of the realistic intensity of being shot at and hearing ricochets(in my first modded firefight)... almost made me shit my pants
best made mod video, greaatt editing and showcase, no bs just quality flashy showcasing I highly recommend you post hits animations season 1 2 and 3 since i prefer them a lot over other animation mods
Most of these mods use a mod organizer like Vortex or MO2. The ones that is manually installed is just to drag the mods file into the game file directly. Pretty straightforward
As you have always made a GREAT AND EXCELLENT VIDEO bro, this cocktail of mods that improve gunplay is perfect, I just need to add a little of the JIP Selective Fire mod. Thanks bro and have a good day
I can confirm most of these mods work as I've been using them in TTW for a while, some of them, like ragdolls have TTW Specific versions you need to download. only mods I'm not using are the player movement mods, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't work. Ragdolls and dramatic staggering not only work but they also affect the Fallout 3 unique npcs like the aliens and point lookout swampfolk. Impact, tracers and energy visuals didn't worked properly in the fallout 3 map but worked well in the Mojave Animations work fine, I have the ones mentioned here and others mentioned in a previous video (butcher Pete, Sigma animations), the only issue is that some fallout 3 specific weapons won't have any animations, for example the 10mm will have new animations but the anchorage version of the 10mm won't. There is a patch that attempts to resolve this issue by FafnirEtherion
Tbf, Tracers are one of those things that people always harp on about games such as Fallout not having enough, or any of, but when you sit and think about it. Why would a post-apocalyptic world have tracers? Tracer rounds are specifically made bullets that have a component in them (like nitrate of something) which will ignite when fired which makes them glow. This means they aren’t regular standard bullets and have to be specially designed. They also have a shorter shelf life than regular bullets (as in they cease to function as tracers, still work as a bullet). So any pre-apocalypse tracers wouldn’t be working anymore, and it’s very unlikely that post-apocalyptic factions would make them, especially in large quantities.
For anyone looking to dive back into new vegas with some mods I highly recommend the Viva New Vegas mod guide. contains all the bug fixes and patches as well as everything to make the gunplay better.
Mutant mods i love your videos so much, and your game looks exactly like how i'd want to play it. would you please consider making a modpack for wabbajack or a nexus collection? or atleast a master load order??? it would be a gift to the modding community.
For people thinking that the movement might look a little jarring in third person at 4:40, go stand in front of a mirror and strafe. Or set up your camera and record yourself strafing. You NEVER see anyone strafe ever cause its not something we as humans really ever do. Strafe in front of your mirror or camera and youll see that that mod is a masterpiece with how it got the character movements down.
Avoid the Ragdolls mod guys it looks awesome but it's janky and will cause u problems. There is a mod for Dramatic Inertia that makes the animations only play in combat if you want that. Nothing else stands out about this guide its just a matter of preference. Great editing good presentation bro.
As someone who tends to lean towards melee this mod list has done a lot to make guns feel more kinetic and fun. I however think you should do a melee equal to this at some point, as a lot can be done to make melee cooler to.
Hey there!!! I really love your mod demonstrations so far, been stealin' those mods into my modpack. You are doing a nice job! :D That being said, on 9:56 I can see our protagonist having a cool looking cyborg-eye. Uhm, where is it from if you remember? Because man it looks cool

@@inexistenttt if you got discord and you can get me files to drop into mo2 cuz I had to do a whole new wipe of fnv that be great, it gets very annoying doing stuff by itself
Lol a lot of these are so unnecessary. The recoil for weapons isn't really all that bad. The firing sounds being slightly off with automatic weapons I chalk up to being the player seeing only tracer rounds and move on with my day. The lower weapon animation has a requirement that has been reported for viruses/malware and I know it's crazy, but if you just put your weapon away, things make more sense and you run faster. It's OCD nitpicking stuff like this that bloats your files to the point you start getting CTDs.
Um..no. My game runs smoothly with even more mods & no CTDs. It’s not OCD, it’s called modding. It’s satisfying to transform the game with mods. That’s what this is…
In my current save I've almost stopped using guns entirely. I'm playing the leader of the Mojave Tunnel Snakes and all it needs is the multiple companions mod. We don't actually wear Tunnel Snakes outfits though, all 5 of us have Chinese stealth suits except for Lily.
been playing fallout 4 lately and enjoying the gameplay despite the shallow ass story but this is making me want to drop that game like a hot potato and get back to modded NV so i can have both good story and good gunplay
Just curious, are the mods presented in the order in which they should be installed? This and your graphical mods video address nearly every issue I have with New Vegas and wanna give it another shot
Started my 1st fallout game last years....not a pc nut don't know how to mod...i was hitting the wall with my head seeing your awsome mod...thanks to vortex and thanks to YOU for all of this...❤❤❤
I played through the Xbox version a few months ago, but I've been wanting to play it again on PC recently. I came across this video and got excited, I launched Nexus and realized 90% of these mods I already had installed lol.
I hope you get this, but I stumbled on your channel last week and I love everything you’ve put out. I love how informative you are; perfect for enthusiasts. Keep it up!
Downloaded most of the mods in this video and their requirements and the reason i say most is because some were either useless to me or they were removed from nexus. Game crashed a lot, probably from my end because this was the first time I modded but it crashed like around 10-15 minutes, probably 5 if your unlucky.
Excellent guide, but one thing I recommend you to remove the Iron sights recoil animation, since this comes in the anniversary anim pack, and when you have the anniversary animpack and the iron sight recoil at the same time a very ugly bug will occur when you use laser or plasma weapons
Hmm. I am a Fallout Veteran, but never got around to New Vegas. I'm currently on my first playthrough now, but I would probably try these. Usually I only install graphics mods, or things that keep it feeling nice and as lore friendly as possible. Such as ADS mod in Fallout 3.
@Mutant_Mods I followed your insane list of mods for a graphical overhaul through a Google doc you linked! Everything is working perfect! I'm gonna go for Viva New Vegas next!
Warning to anyone using the B42 bows mod, the dramatic inertia mod is apparently incompatible with it! (correct me if I'm wrong plz) Also, if you use it with walking inertia, your screen will flicker while you're crouched.
Maybe it’s just me but the older kind of janky weapons are something I love about 3 and new Vegas and their part of what makes these games so much more enjoyable and like a fallout more than the newer games
And si the cycle begins again. Everything this man uploads, I re-download new vegas, mod the hell out of it, finish a new playthrough and Uninstall. Then he uploads again...
The animation of the double barrel shotgun clipping out of the v_model is not something I'd show when trying to show your viewers a specific mod is good
