How Guys Become Friends 

Been friends with a dude since 5th grade. He’s the best man at my wedding. I couldn’t tell you what month his birthday is in.

The “not my last name” bit got me. My wife always asks me that when I get back and it irritates the hell out of her. Then it goes too far and she has to find out other ways

I met a guy dove hunting on a public field one year. We decided to buddy up and spent most of the day back to back in a field. When I got home the only two facts I remembered was that he worked for the power company and he could shoot. I did not pass the post friend interrogation with my wife because somehow I'd forgotten to ask what his wife's name was, how long they'd been married, any kids, where they live, what she does, where'd he go to school, etc. After that I just stopped telling her I met people. It's just easier this way.

My ten year old son recently attended a music camp. At the final concert, I noticed him talking excitedly to another boy. Leaning over to my twelve year old daughter, I said, "Looks like he's made a friend, but I'll bet they don't know each other's names." She looked at me incredulously and said there's no way that could happen. So later, in front of her, I casually asked my son if he'd made any friends that week. "Oh yes!" he exclaimed, and told us all about the fun he and that other kid had together all week long. "Sounds fun" I said. "What's his name?" He looked at me quizzically. "I don't know." "Did you tell him your name?" I asked. Another quizzical look. "No, it never came up," he said. My daughter was scandalized! 😂

I met my best friend 16 years ago when my good friend started dating him. I was at the bar in my dodgers shirt and hat watching them play the orioles and he sits next to me wearing an orioles hat and shirt. We both root for the others team in their respective league and immediately became best friends. It's that easy with guys.

I've been in a fantasy league for awhile now with a lot of my buddies, and I don't know Steve's last name. Me and him usually make a trade each year and we talk about the league. I have him as "Steve The League" in my phone. Only met once because he moved away after the first year of me joining.
