I have lived in both Sweden and Finland. Yes, they are closer than brother, more like two sides of the same person: Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Finland is Mr Hyde. I cannot praise Sweden highly enough in my experience. Actually, I got along well in the five other countries I have lived in. Finland is the only one I cannot find words enough to condemn. It is absolute hell.

Seems like you haven’t read the government white paper on immigration, which aims to increase immigration overall. The 3 month limit to find a new job is slightly embarrassing, as are the True Finns idiots. Having said that, the largest embarrassment recently has been the quality of Finnish journalism. The country needs to accommodate immigrants to a degree if it wants to survive, that's simply a cold hard fact. Finland might be best place on Earth for Finnish people, but since Finns don't want to have children at replacement level and the younger generations are too small to keep the system going in the long run, you need to make sacrifices. Finland has plenty of its own freeloaders and if significant portion of people who come to Finland are freeloaders, then maybe its to rethink about why people do not want to do their part in a society. Sure there are people who are simply lazy, but as a Finn who has largely been in relationships with people from outside of Finland, Finland isn't very welcoming or easy place to move to. I've had far easier time moving into countries that are generally considered more xenophobic or racist than Finland. That should tell enough. Finland fails to integrate properly, it gives you few language courses and then expects you to largely make it on your own. Meanwhile getting fulltime employment is challenging, even if you are Finnish but have a foreign last name. The main things that make Finland appealing to many people is the relative equality, safety and the welfare system. It's certainly not the people or much of anything else. Not to say the people are bad, but there are far more hospitable people elsewhere in many places. The people who expect the foreigners to adjust and settle into country the way they want, don't want to provide any real tools for that to occur in the first place. They point to people who came before and say that if people before could do it, so should the newer arrivals. That's simply not the same thing, the volume of people coming and the volume of people required to come in to keep the country a float simply makes it necessary for the country itself to adjust and change things up. The people who came before weren't the same and are generally quite unique when compared to other people from their home countries. If we wanted to rely on these kind of people alone as immigrants to Finland, there'd simply not be enough of them. The more people moan about appeasing the immigrants, the more likely Finland will have immigrants just forming their own communities within the country rather than integrating.

It is the current system that needs for the population to increase and the only reason it ain't increasing is because there is not enough security in the country. We have many ways to fix the problem but no one is willing because that would mean they have to sacrifice something. Just if you can't see it then look at our planet and we are 8b people. That elderly man never asked to be treated in any different way but those young ones demanded to be respected as kings. The appeasing reates attitude among them that teaches em that they can demand anything. Like a 20 year old lazy fck went on about it being racism that didn't give him a promotion. Had nothing to do with racism, it was me telling the bosses that they are lazy fcks only sitting on their phones. My point aint that we don't have those lazy fcks but appeasment does not teach em anything else than getting stuff without doing anything. A bit same issue with our young in today's Finland. The kids coming from school to learn about a job place just sits on their darn phones when someone should slap em once and put em to work to at least experience the job. I do vote for getting the stick back for the teachers at schools too because teachers are burning out faster than we can educate new ones now when they don't even have the right to grab a child and carry them out from the classroom even anymore. If you still don't get it that old man spoke fluent finnish just because he cared enough to learn, only problem was that hes over 60 so the chances for him to get a job is pretty small. Nobody felt sorry for him he was just one of us. Its like night and day working with the people not been cared for like little babies and the ones that has been. Why not just treat em like any person in our country? They came here so everyone can't like what we have to offer but those that do like it they will adapt. I'm also a Finswe so I do know whats its like to be seen as someone from the outside, but still babying me would have done nothing else than create more anger among the Fin speaking population. Then to the real problem in Finland with the need of workers is that the working conditions of the jobs are such that 90% of the people working here would never accept them. You wouldn't agree to work randomly 3 days a week. You wouldn't agree to work 3 weeks per month if the pay is below the limit set by our laws. You wouldn't move 200km for a job that promises only 3 months when the pay is below 2k per month. I assume you wouldn't even work below 3k per month looking at your lack of understanding how fckd up our job market is today. When I was young you went to a company, signed the papers "until death or old age do us part", today you sign "until the company has drained you to death and no one has any use for you again". Yes we do have honest employers still but the ones needing workforce are mostly the ones that ain't that honest or tries to save money by decreasing the workers security. So they are shouting for more and then we have those not knowing our laws working there for the time that is paid by the state and then they let em go. I got fed up on looking at how they abuse people and call it giving them a chance so I left. People using that service has no clue whatsoever what is really going on, they just smile and are happy that the service exists. Why do you think they rather used the Kosovo albans in construction back in the day? Yes because they removed asbest without extra costs or any way of pressuring the building, so you sit in you office sniffing that asbest dust(before you get too scared, back in the day it was openly mixed and I don't ever heard of any place cleaning every spot just because there was asbest used at some point in time). Why do you think so many finnish construction workers lost their jobs when we joined "open borders". Because a helping hand from Finland had a min cost of 23 euros of more per hour while a Estonian one only cost 15 euros. You know the funny part is that the Estonian worker was left with more in his hand per hour than the Finnish one. It is not the fault of the people coming here, its the system and appeasment aint improving the situation. Like yay you get em tricked here until they find out that as Finns they have rights and you got no slavelabor force to supply you with your personal comfort needs. They should be told the truth and take it or leave it. Honest and truthful. To fix the low births we only need to make the workmarket secure again by forcing companies to keep a darn "nestegg" like they used to do because no one wants to get kids if they ain't sure they will still have a job in 5 years. Why the foreigners have kids is because their situation improved but their kids will have higher standards and probably demand the same stability as we others do to get kids. Maybe they won't care that much for a generation or two but it will change. Look at any animal, they do not reproduce if the conditions are unsure/unsecure and even eat their young if they believe it will become worse why would humans be different? So maybe babies should be more important than getting a 5% payout for the shareholders every damn year. So you argue for "we need more people to move here" when its only a kids band-Aid on a ruptured artery.

Like free healthcare back, no private healthcare anymore, remove all private transportation systems and return everything to VR and Matkahuolto. Return everything with electricity back to the ownership of the people, no more fcking shareholding fckers draining it. We need to return the balance between socialism and capitalism to a level that was working. When we do that then families will start to have 5 kids again. I would say that the majority of the people are not even much xenophobes as per strict definition, they are just wary of strangers until they figure them out. Then there are introverts, who simply do not see any upside in interacting with strangers unless they absolutely have to, applying this to both native and foreign strangers. Lastly, there is the cultural thing where there is nothing wrong to sit in silence, while e.g. riding a bus or waiting for entry to doctors' appointment. Someone, who comes from a different culture may very easily interpret all three as hostility and racism.

Finns have no business living in other countries, as long as they cannot treat people who come from other countries to Finland with respect. I demand the same respect from others as I give them. The last straw was when I translated W. Malmivaaraˀs Siionin virret to English as a friendly gesture and all hell broke loose. I did not expect a prize or even thanks. But I did not expect the insane and diabolical vitriol that Finns have poured on me for doing that. Not a single Finn in the last ten years since I did so has had the desire or courage to defend me. By the way, after studying four years in France, as a foreigner, I was offered two good jobs that required high skills in French language. My Finnish wife insisted on going back to Finland, which for me has been a mistake. I have lived successfully in six countries. Only Finns have the gall to treat people with such depths of hostility.

While I never thought about thanks for doing so, I should not have been publicly vilified for it and I should have been defended. To date, no one has gone to Herattaja Yhdistys and said "Why have you treated this man so despicably?" I lectured in Finnish at the University of Turku for several years, which required a paper signed by Prof Kangasmaa-Minn at the time, stating that my Finnish was good enough to lecture there. The problem is not with my translating ability, but with Finns who have no manners and no shame. Even if I had done a horrible job, the response should have been, "Tom, that was nice of you to make that effort." The only thing that can be said against me is that I have complained of the way I have been treated. But that seems to be an even greater sin. Until this is made right, I shall do everything in my power to expose Finns for the xenophobic and disgraceful people they are. Finns have had ten years to put this right, it has been in several newspapers, and other magazines, and still there is neither acknowledgment nor apology.

One of my high school math teachers was from India but he and she family spoke English. My first experience with people outside the USA were the International Educational Exchange students who lived in my Upperclassmen/Honors(high grade point averages or Grades), and International students. I even asked, 'Where are you guys from'? They told me but I didn't realize these International students were the Elites of where they came from. I thought all Europeans were of a certain caliber or high Standard so I tended to gravitate towards Internationas who remind me of my fellow dormitory mates and ex-boyfriends. I remember watching the UK show Eastenders or the first time. I thought those are certainly not the people stayed in my dormitory. My first International boyfriend was a professional tennis player from Finland at a USA University near my University. He's a phenomenal guy and he still inspires me. My next boyfriend was Danish that I met after University. I knew he was from Europe at one glance. I remember looking up and thought, ' Who is that'? In a Good way. Turns out he also is from one of those Elite European Families. A English guy I dated as well. Elite as well. There's just unspoken social cues. He attended the same Boarding School as Harry and William. Attended Oxford throughout and graduated with a PhD in the Sciences and Philosophy. He came to the USA with a fellowship at a USA and stayed. My last companion and Great Friend was German. Was a Professor in many countries, authored many books and peer reviewed articles, lectured at various Conferences and top ranked Universities all over the world. He passed away recently but our relationship lasted for twelve years. Each asked me to marry them at one point. They all are extremely learned, spoke English fluently, from great Families but so am I. Maybe I should have accepted one of their proposals or allowed Love fully but there's something about enjoying life for yourself and having a certain level of Independence. I will say they still inspire me along with all those International Educational Exchange students who made a positive impact on my life and encouraged me to travel outside of the USA. I took Spanish in high school and Undergrad but it's not the same as visiting a non-English speaking country for yourself. My positive experience with the International Educational Exchange students and now boyfriends and International friends inspired me to see the world for myself. As a result, my entire family began traveling internationally❤

What for??? Let migrant make politics in their native countries

Just a thought. A governments job is to provide a safe and prosperous country to it's citizens. There are only limited amount of resources that can be given to those in need. So when immigrants come, they are supposed to benefit the society, not take those limited resources away from the citizens. This is not saying all immigrants are taking the resources away, I'm just saying you can't make that comparison. Every single immigrant taking social support is using the money meant for the citizens. So of course that is something that government needs to consider. What is the best way to go about it, well that I don't know.

People keep trying to tell me that half the Finns are really good people, but I don't buy it. I did free propaganda for Finland for decades, until I finally even went to the trouble to translate W. Malmivaara's entire Siionin virret into the same rhyme and meter in English. That is when it finally hit me that there is no way to appease Finns. The nicer you are to them, the worse they will be to you. When someone breaks rank and says public "Tom, that was a nice gesture," I might start believing in Finns again. No one is coming to Finland to work as an engineer for a salary of 4500€ to pay 2000€ in taxes and live in one of the most expensive countries by cost of living in Europe. The immigration we get is mostly arabs, somalis etc coming from complete hellholes to abuse Europes naive wellfare system, no matter which country because they only want the money and don't even plan to try to integrate. They have completely different mentality and culture. They see European kindness as being weak. That's why they force kids to lick their shoes, are violent, get in crime and drugs to prove their manliness. Even in Finland Mc's are already completely out of the drug business because of immigeants who are driving 60k€ cars bought with drug money. For once could we not follow Swedens policies to avoid complete destruction.
