If a Karl-Gerät 600mm mortar coming downwards from gravity and striking directly onto a T-34/85 can’t kill anyone inside, nothing can And somehow, they can stick out of their tank turrets and there isn’t shockwaves which usually kill the crew anyways

Also, just the G's would turn you into jelly by how quickly the acceleration or simply just the applies force is when some of these tanks are hit. Tanks don't have much of a crumple zone to absorb said impact.

Plot twist: All the girls are just playing on VR, or they are not humans at all.

I do figure that at least PART of the explanation is that these aren't the actual historical tanks, they're high tech replicas with better suspension. That won't fix all the errors but it'll fix the deaths from hitting the tracks too hard😅

Girls und panzer is an anime where you really can’t apply real world physics or logic to it. It just doesn’t make sense period, just gotta enjoy it for what it is.

If I remember, there were only ever TWO instances of actual harm: 1.) Miho's match against Pravda when she was still with Kuromorimine and one of her teammates was actually going to drown. 2.) When Hina was knocked unconscious in the practice match against the other members of the school. Which, lets be honest, only happened to get Mako to drive the tank.

Most of the reasons for its "safety" was its Senshado Approved Shells where it fuctions similar to a normal shell but wasn't made to spread shrapnel and penetrate the tank. Other reasons has to be this special coating called plot armor.

Aya's glasses should count as casualties. She breaks a pair per match.

In the manga it states, the tanks are layered with carbon fiber, so when they are destroyed nobody dies, and there only has been 2 instances of tankers getting hurt, when Miho saved the people from the sinking tank, and when Hina was unconcious.

Just idea of a tank of an average 33 tons that fly around battlefield just because hit by a shell is sci-fi. Not to mention the entirety of the rest of the Anime. But... It's just funny.

Dont worry, in the anime. They said that the tanks are coated with a layer of carbon, its fiiiiiiinnnnneeee, and also that theyre using non lethal ammunition its fiiiiinnnneeeeeeee

If i remember correctly, they use live ammunition but the tanks have some kind of special coating where the round doesn't "fully" penetrate the armour, so that it doesn't harm the occupants within the inside of the tanks, and why the white flags show on the tank when its been "knocked out" , and i think miho did say that injuries during matches are very-very-rare except for as someone already mentioned the previous time that miho was part of kuromorimine vs pravda.

Literally Miho's head almost get blow up by a stielgranade 41 in one of the spin off manga. Also in that manga they mention that a point blank 75mm shell can actually do serious damage to the commander who have her head out of the tank.

Also in Girls Und Panzer Das Finale part 2 or 3 when Anzio was in a match against St. Gloriana they were using the mobility of their Tankettes to throw the Crusader tanks into the water.

One of the closest cases you couldn't explain away with pimped-out armor was in the Anzio OVA were we see one CV.33 land on its side and yeeting out both crew members. If it had then toppled over it would've squashed one of them.

As far as I understand, the WW2 tanks in Girls und Panzer are covered with extra carbon armor from the inside to protect the crew, unlike the original versions of the tanks. But Miho said on Girls und Panzer TV-Series that people are rarely injured, so there are no deaths, but yes… there are injuries.

Meanwhile I just imagine how terrified any of the girls in this series would be if exposed to tanks from Metal Max. "WHY DOES THE TURRET HAVE SIX MAIN CANNONS ON IT!?"

Even if the tanks have magic "keep anyone inside from becoming paste" tech...I'd still be worried about someone getting splattered by a shell directly with how often they go around with open hatches and/or people sticking their heads out of them. Not to mention, what might happen if you got thrown out when your tank took a big hit.

One thing I want to point out is out that in Der Film there was a Pershing that got its turret blown off the tank so my question is are they ok?
