the MC prevented me from becoming another bum in my city and i felt pretty low before joining. I was just smoking weed everyday and didn't try in school despite being smarter than my peers. Since joining i gained a lot of self discipline and structure in my life, everything i lacked in my highschool days. your channel has also helped a lot with the transition too. Would love to see more gaming content too tho,

The marine corps fixed what I felt was wrong with me. I’m done with year 1/4, I don’t think I’m gonna reenlist but I’m already thankful for the dark place it took me from. Semper Fi

Such a beautiful cover picture in your uniform. Very handsome. Your time served could be seen as a unique college experience. Leaving home to pursue a degree abroad had the same effect on me, causing me to mature and be responsible.

That's exactly what I'm using the Marine Corps for, a stepping stone to set me up for my plans. As you can tell from my username, I love the film industry, and I actually do Visual effects. My goal is to get my bachelor's degree in VFX while in the Marines, and use the experience gain to help me open my own VFX company when I get out.

@@HARPO555 I mostly use After Effects and other "Adobe" products. And my recommendation would be to look up different types of VFX tutorials on RU-vid and try to recreate them yourself. Experience is the best teacher.

I’m joining this year. I’m 23 years old. I wish I signed up right after high school but instead I went to JUCO college for football for two years and that took me nowhere. After my two years, my life just went downhill and have no direction in life. Just working a 8 hour job I hate, drinking, smoking weed, sniffing coke. I’m trying to change. So joining the military is all I can think of rn. And I might as well join the toughest branch. Really hope this gives me the direction I need in life 💯

Now fast forward 30 years, and I can testify it will follow you for a lifetime. Not simply financially (no, the MC does not teach you how to make money), but it can help you through instilling that confidence that you will need to surmount any obstacle that may come your way in the Corps, and later on in life. What I remember most about the MC is, "never give up while you still have the means to fight." That philosophy literally pulled me up out of the gutter.

Semper Fi, brother. It changed me forever too. The USMC took a high school dropout who was partying too much and not doing anything with his life, and made me a disciplined and driven man of character. I got out and used my GI Bill to go to college, despite never having made it past the 10th grade. I now have three college degrees and make great money. I will forever be grateful to our Marine Corps.

I know it changed me because the discipline you get is nothing like civilian life. They drill your ass into the ground and build you back up. You will not come out the same as you go in. I did infantry then intelligence wanted that rush of infantry but had a 93 ASVAB so had the option to pick my MOS. Have fun but take advantage of the savings you can build up in the marines or any branch. I am now out after 8 years applying for the CIA or FBI for high security clearance looking at a 6 figure a year job all paid for by the Marines. I love and appreciate what they did only regret was I should have done intelligence then infantry reserve but I wanted to as you said before thought I would see combat never did. Whether you do 4 years or 20 you are always a marine and it’s a great stepping stone but take it seriously as well don’t just piss your time off.

FYI, I came across your video by searching "Courthouse Bay Camp Lejuene" just out of curiosity what its like 30 years later. (in case youre wondering how I landed here) I just watched and commented on your Barracks Tour. I just subscribed to your channel. I grad PI in Dec 1988, then AAV school in Pendleton, then 2nd Mar Div, Courthouse Bay. Sounds like You and I both needed the USMC but couldnt wait to get out and move on with my life BUT it was a 100% Lifetime Game changer. You will do well Young Man. Look forward to watching your videos

Im currently going to college for a degree in Sports & Exercise Science. I have about a year left of school & I'll have my degree. Over the past six months I've really thought about joining the Marines once I graduate to help pay off a lot of the student loans I have attained over the years. Only problem is i'll be 25 once i graduate. Is that too old to be respected for an incoming marine? Are there a fair amount of people that come in with a degree in their mid 20s?
