So you guys will put raid shadow legends in the description and in the comments but you won’t put the guys who just took you into their facility and showed you how they build their turbo even one link in the description?
That's WTF I was thinking! You make a youtube video about cars and show/promote a turbo company... then no link? Just video game spam? Next time just record video gameplay of cars and save us all sometime with this clown show. @Car Throttle
Turbo Technics were the main aftermarket makers of turbo's for the Rover SD1 and they were always mental fast, I also met someone that had twin Turbo Technics fitted to his 2.8 ltr Ford Capri he had his speeding ticket framed as no one would believe that he was clocked at just under 200 mph in a Capri. They were always the best go too for a turbo that worked well.
@@JakeSnake07 He probably had a loud exhaust as well. If it is quiet it is significantly reduced probability of that happening. I don't think a Tesla has ever been pulled over for "excessive acceleration" because they're practically silent.
“A hybrid turbocharger is an electric turbocharger consisting of a high speed turbine-generator and a high speed electric air compressor.” Looks like they are just using the name ‘hybrid’ to make it sound fancy. It is not a hybrid of anything, it is just a turbo.
For example you can have the interns of a 3.0 tdi in a 1.9 tdi shell, that's why it's called a hybrid turbo because it's a combination of 2 different things
Radu Best that’s just the definition from google. A Hybrid refers to something comprised of two ‘different’ elements. For example a hybrid rocket motor has both liquid and solid fuel, a hybrid car has both internal combustion and electric power. This is just a ‘custom’ turbo.
Exactly. I was actually disappointed watching the video because I anticipated real hybrid turbos. So turbos with an electrical motor powering it instead of exhaust gases.
Even though I am a development engineer for one of the main T/C producers, I have enjoyed it a lot! :) (P.S. Some knowledge sharing: you won't find pneumatic actuator and thrust bearing on nowadays' PV T/Cs anymore ;-) )
When I saw this video thumbnail I thought it was going to be about turbos for hybrid cars eg,. Prius. but then I saw Alex was in the video then i knew I was wrong
@Sean Yup, you're wrong... the video is about some bs called *RAiD,* it's another promo for children's video games. It has really nothing to do with this company's turbos or automotive vehicles. *Join RAID today!* 😃
Just choose the right size turbo for the right engine and use situation and all should be fine. Don't put a huge DIESEL ENGINE turbo on a TINY engine... or buy the top range most powerful version of a 4x4 turbo'd beast if your normal use is to do shopping and drive to work. There is nothing wrong with a midrange boosting turbo. Quick enough to spool up to get off quickly...and enough power for the middle for a nice boost.
@@liamting yeap, i say pd but thats just because there the only ones i've played with for the last year or 2, been a while since i played with something like a ALH engine lol
Didn't take him much work to dynamic balance it I've watched other turbo places take a alot more goes at grinding the nut to get it just right what rpm do they spin it up to ?
So what we have learnt here is that it isn't actually a hybrid of anything, just a turbo with modified internals.. I guess that means we can take our engines with modified internals, call them hybrids and keep the greenies happy!
Presenter reminds me of a (slightly more) serious version of "Blippie". Search YT in case you don't know what I mean. Lol. Jokes. Top video though. Good fun, and very informative. Thanks for showcasing this operation. Amazing work.
It would all depend on the map sensor and tune. I had a 3.0 v6 diesel on a e class and with a venom stage one hybrid, vag 3 bar map sensor and tune was getting 320 bhp and nearly 800nm of torque which is the limit for the gearbox not bad for an engine with 170k on it. In the real world torque is more important than bhp.
Hello I have a question the turbo shops where I am from are only upgrading the cold side and leaving the exhaust side standard will the turbo still make power?
