How I 10x my salary #shrots #coding #developers #developerlife #code #10x

I worked for several years on a modest salary, during which I gained significant knowledge and worked diligently. Despite being a top student in Computer Science, transitioning into the industry as a software engineer required several years to refine my skills and bolster my confidence for the next stage. 💪
Unlike many software engineers who become complacent in their roles, I've always strived for progress. For any developer with experience, staying in the same position for more than two-three years can hinder your earning potential. But, for all beginners, it's crucial to value the early phase of learning, focusing on growth rather than immediate financial gains. Remember, first you Learn and then you remove the L. 🌱
⏳ For level and senior developers, my advice is to keep seeking better opportunities and avoid becoming too comfortable in your current role.
And for junior & medior developers, I have exciting news: my comprehensive Practical Programming Course is out: www.codebeautyacademy.com/

What 20.000$ a month are you talking about?!?! 😂 As I understood, you work as a developer in Bosnia. Considering my experience there (I worked in Sarajevo) you are lucky to have 1500$ a month. I am a professional C++ developer with a PhD in programming, and I don't even come close to those figures. For 20.000$ a month I would be developing apps on the arctic ice, let alone in Bosnia. A senior developer in Balkan countries is lucky to have 2000-3000$ max. these day, and even that requires you to be a pro with a lot of projects in your resume, not just knowing OOP principles.

Her numbers may be over the top but yours are way too low. Pretty much everyone in my friend group in Bosnia(I don't live there but visit often) is at $6000+(highest being at $9000 currently) with plenty of room for advancement. Though they all work for German or American companies
@vclexamples
@vclexamples 7 месяцев назад
@@rizvan1632 Sorry, but your friends are obviously exaggerating big time. Average salary in Bosnia for 2023 is only 1.180€ (feel free to check it for yourself). That is an extremely poor country which is a synonym for corruption for the very reasons of poverty. If any of those stories were true, as I said - I would be the first to go there. Just for reference, members of the Bosnian presidency receive 2.800 - 3.536 euro per month. As much as I like programming there is no chance in hell you get 6000-9000, let alone 20.000$ per month. That is just pure lying to everyone's faces. Even the highest paying programming salary in the world is not near 20.000$ (maybe 10.000$), but only in highly developed countries such as USA. Certainly, not Bosnia.

The example is maybe too much simplification over what basically is "never settle, negotiate" In a position where you are looking but not in dire needs more people would be willing to counter offer but if you need a job you won't in fear of losing the offer. Often times you should counter offer and know how to. Sometimes it is more money and other times it could be more starting PTO or other benefits. You should always make an effort to ask not just take what is given because you'd be surprised how often you may be met in the middle or somewhere in between and leave with more than initially offered.

@@jakejason4333 yes that is what she is saying. It’s basically down to a bit of luck. Being there in the right moment. Having their interest and being bold in one’s request Still what many seems to disregard is that this is the scenario when an company actively wants to recruit you. So you already have their interests. If you don’t have it then it won’t work. But I have friends it worked for. Myself I did not double it but got a 50% raise on an already good salary. And I pulled the same. I was of course interested in the new position but I did not have a super urge to move so I threw out a bit less than double of my current salary. After some negotiations we landed on around 150% of my then current salary. If I had started with they figure for sure I would had not ended with whey I got in the end XD

you tubers exaggerate things , for impressive video titles, do not take the numbers literally. Actually she is careful and does not even claim that she really worked for 2000 initially , and that she actually got offers for double salary, or that she now has a 20000 salary. SHe says "as an example...". Even asking for double money is too much. Better ask for 30-40% more than your current , and of course stay on each job for at least 12 months (after the 1st and 2nd position, your first 2 companies, you should actually try to stay more than 18 months for the 3rd and 4th positions, ideally 2 full years for the 4th position, because then it will start to look bad on your CV. Only when you become a contractor you can again go for yearly contracts without fear of giving a bad image as a job hopper).

Ok you can do it once , but then you cannot keep doing it. And it also depends on how good you are. If you are working for 2000$ per month and you know you are kind of underpaid, because this is your first job, so you just accepted it, and after 9-10 months you have an interview and they are willing to offer you the jb, then you could ask for 4000$ (and maybe they will offer you 3500, so it is still a big improvement) , but then you go to that second job and after a year, you cannot ask (on another interview) 7000$ because at 3500 you are on the market rate for junior developer, so after 9+12=21 months of total experience you can go for a non-junior role now, and ask for 4500-5000 (better give that range as a desired salary, so the company that was only willing to give 4000-4500 for the position will say "ok, we can give him the 4500 that he asks" , but in case the company was going to give 5000-5500 for the role , you still get the 5000 ). And then after you get that 2nd position, it will not look good to hope fast (in less than 1 year) to a 3rd position again. So chose carefully your 2nd position because ideally you should stay there for 18+ months. And of course if you like the role, then you can decide to stay in the same company for more, and do not change companies for your 3rd position, but just stay in the same company for 3-4 years, and become senior developer there. The increase of the money will not be as high, but if you are happy with the product and the field of work, why not stay? I started my 1st C++ junior developer role in october 2022, and now I have lined up my 2nd position, starting in November, and I accepted the same salary, because my 1st role is in C++98 , in micro-controllers, and my 2nd role will be in Qt , a desktop application, so I have a lot to learn. I did not dare to ask for more, I will still be considered a junior developer, for Qt.
