2:46- "Why do another Fallout Power Armor? Two reasons: First, someone essentially told me that I would never do another set of armor again that would be nearly as good as T-60. I confess drinks were involved... and I was determined to prove them wrong." Works for me.

Honestly you are the biggest inspiration I've had since the pandemic happened. I found a post about your story of making this armor after buying a replica helmet at GameStop. After seeing that, I had to make my own. Now I'm in the process of building a full aluminum set of this exact armor. This video has helped me so much and I thank you for being you(might sound weird but you seem awesome).
@HiroCreations

Kind words like that mean a ton to me, thank you for commenting. And feel free to ping me here, or on instagram with pics of your armor, hats off to you for chasing the build--in metal no less I definitely would like to see it as it comes together. And I definitely will keep on being me--I don't know who else to be. :)

the armor looks awesome but i feel like the armors size proportions are a miss because the helemt looks really small compared to the games counter part, idk i feel like some parts of the armor sizes have misproportions but over all its still bad ass and i wish i have my very own quatum X 0-1 power armor

While it wont be printing one, i am "borrowing" some techniques here for an EVA foam build, keep up the awesome work
@HiroCreations
@HiroCreations 4 года назад
Not sure if you have a printer, but a future video I am working on is making accurate foam templates of angular (or organic shaped armors) by printing out a 1/4 or 1/8 scale version of it and using tape to create paper templates you can scale up for foam builds. That is something I am working with for a future build atm.
@reflector36
@reflector36 4 года назад
@@HiroCreations Templates sound awesome. I have 3 printers, im just not interested in the weight and printing time (and thats a lot of sanding). I have been slowly working on a full size R2-D2 so ive had my fill of sanding layer lines.
@HiroCreations

@@reflector36 Haha I hear ya there, I'm branching out to using 3D printing for either details or mechanical parts and use other materials to fill larger surfaces like the smooth sections of armor plate.

Hello! Sorry to bother you again. I would like to avoid covering my suit in epoxy because it is expensive and time-consuming. I was thinking I would just vapor-smooth the TPU using something like DMSO. What do you think?
@HiroCreations
@HiroCreations Год назад
I considered that as an option, but the side effects and special handling needed for DMSO scared me considerably. Plus I am not a huge fan of vapor smoothing because it's not a uniform process (some areas have the details get super soft before the layer lines smooth over in other spots (usually in the areas further away from the vapor source).

I can name out so many mistakes with this creation that I am uncomfortable of seeing it. And I am willing to one day make a better replica of this power armor. But I do love the dedication of him making the power armor, the painting skill of it, and the work of making the frame. It in all other ways, a very impressive bulky work of art.

I'm sure you are very busy, I'm sorry to bother you again. I am thinking about the step where you used the filler-primer. Do you think plasti-dip would be ok, or no?
@HiroCreations
@HiroCreations 11 месяцев назад
Tried plastidip a few times on various armors, its difficult and unforgiving to get a smooth clean finish (always got a bumpy orange peel finish) and it wears off quickly in any areas with friction. Would recommend avoiding Plastic or similar liquid urethanes like Creature Cast.

Hi! I am doing a similar project with giant robot armor. I started out with SainSmart TPU and I am getting ready to print. What were your infill settings?
@HiroCreations
@HiroCreations 2 года назад
Good luck on the build, I started with 7% infill and eventually dropped to 5% to save weight. I did add a 4th wall perimeter for more strength.
@tylersnard
@tylersnard 2 года назад
@@HiroCreations Thank you so much! You mentioned that you started out coating your TPU parts with epoxy, but then later switched to UV curing resins. Do you mean like SLA printer resins?
@HiroCreations
@HiroCreations 2 года назад
@@tylersnard Yup, though a few years later I would recommend the Epoxy if you have the time and patience as it lasts significantly longer (likely forever) while the SLA resin coats are starting to get visble micro cracks on the surface.
@tylersnard
@tylersnard 2 года назад
@@HiroCreations Thank you! I am not looking forward to sanding this thing, it is going to be a beast. What do you think about instead of sanding and epoxy, melting the outer wall of the TPU with a head gun until it is glossy, like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IAxFBzz9BH8.html Do you think that would work?
