I kinda feel bad for the Guild Leader, so far it seems like he was a guy with good intentions just not competent enough or didn't put as much effort into the game. He didn't attack Muk, not on the raid or in the mail and gave his position so his guild could be in a better place. He should have been the guild manager and Muk the raid leader or something.
It shows a snapshot of you leading a guild into a fight, freeze frame, record scratch, you narrating, “Yup, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I got into this situation.” Cue 80’s Music.
Ah, guild mergers, they always go wonky in such interesting ways. It's like a universal MMO standard. As an aside, know how you can tell when someone's a good storyteller (e.g. Muk)? When a story is 10 minutes long and it only feels like a minute and a half went by. Great content/delivery as always, Muk!
Sometime a guild really have such 1 person standing behind a guild leader that is better than the guild leader but doesn't want to be the guild leader. They just want to command when fighting to get it done but doesn't want to deal with guild issue. I'm in a game now with such guild. One who is stronger/experience than the guild leader. But my leader doesn't mind. He just, oh you go ahead and command, I'll just laid back and follow along.😂
They should establish their roles, leadership can take many forms. If one is more experianced/competent and the other a better at handling internal systems, they can split into the Raid Leader and the Guild Manager.
But some guild can't establish roles like that, some fixated guild leader is the leader. And some guild leader can't accept rank lower than him/her better command. Like this encounter, the WoW leader must have thought "my face are all gone, I'm embarrassed infront of all my guild mates"
I established a checks and balance system that has always worked really well, where one part of leadership is in charge of the administration, and another part is in charge of strategy and lineup.
As someone who used to play wow and was a raidleader during that period, and currently plays gw2, i understood all those references! Man those days in retrospec, I had a lot of those whispered conversations, the drama. Good times.
This feels like my WvW guild, except our leader doesn't quit while drunk. He just doesn't tag up anymore and let's the four of us that are much better at it just go for it while he manages the guild and makes sure the bank is always stocked with guild cata's.
Yeah, nothing wrong with that approach. Leading a guild doesn't mean tagging up. That's why it's common in fiction (probably with some examples IRL as well) to see free-spirited leaders that are just charismatic and don't sweat the small stuff while it's 2nd in command that actually gives out proper orders and keeps people in line.
I almost didn't click on this cause the Thumbnail did not make me think this was you, I had to read your name on it, and I did so cause I was like "who posted this?! And how am I subbed to them?" 🤣 But yeah, glad I finally did click, cool story! 😅
Guild mergers, always an interesting experience. Actually surprised it all happened with their Guild Leader away. But I will say one thing, I'm glad our bench people didn't just log off haha, they'd usually go and do something else while waiting for their turn, as we'd swap out classes depending on the boss in Rift/WoW, or swap out if someone needed to go. If you don't have a bench and someone leaves, that means that essentially your raid is down a person. :) Though that's experiences from being in a Oceanic first kill guild. Extremely stressful however. Honestly, its been so nice not having that stress in GW2. Maybe that is why I was so opposed to DE's existence. as "fun" as that kind of stress raiding was, I never want to do it again.
3:00 DUDE that was me when I joined a random pug in GW2 and I joined the guild after on a whim(because apparently this was a guild raid I joined) and we continued to raid for like 2-3 years, I became the official raid lead in like a couple days and now we all quit the game but I still play with like 4-5 of my old guild mates and we are close friends to this day XD I just joined this seemingly random group and got in the voice chat and just started calling out mechanics and tactics because I was so used to leading PUGs up until this point like I got into raiding and raided for like half year purely in PUGs up until this point, most of which I lead because I just researched every fight and tactic in advance XD
Yeah this happened to me in OG WoW. We couldnt get past the first boss of Molten Core for weeks. The guild leader was ready to rage quit because we were all bad. I asked if i could raid lead for a couple pulls. We killed Lucifron on my first pull. Turns out we were just tanking him too close to the main raid group. Guild leader rage quit anyway. We went on to eventually down 3-4 Naxx bosses before BC. But being in charge sucks. The end.
Just found this randomly...and had no clue you were doing the youtube thing...this is Lucy you know from your original guild on Kirin Tor. You know the one who let you die on our first Illidan kill...cuz you are not prepared. I just had to post that...and yes we were sad when you left fyi... :p
The beginning of your story sounds eerily similar to the first day we did Ankka CM and I just took over shotcalling from the commander because I got tired of people dying to quaggans and krait...
I still have to do that the few times I play north Drizzlewood as I generally only do south now that I finished with the infernal otter grind. The commanders, even ones that "know" the fight against the claw, apparently don't and most of the time everyone's constantly being blown off ledges.
don't know if this was the guild Muk talked about but he's mentioned getting multiple server first clears with a guild in WoW, I'd say that's successful leadership
Imagine a grown ass man having a meltdown over a game 😂😂😂 I play Gw2 I've seen some weird stuff but hey at least he was good intended and didn't bashed you for the things that were happening once he came back
He wasa good leader, leading is a fucking chore. If you were better at it why not you? What are you gonna do anyway, its fale bullshit power structure anyway.
