This is a project to gain some control over my 3d printer's build environment. This is one more step toward building my printer up to where it can print PA-12 Nylon.
It uses:
Panel heater - www.amazon.com...
Temperature Controller - www.amazon.com...
3D printed box - www.thingivers...
This project required 3 months to complete, because life. Thanks for your patience. If my projects bring some value to you or if you just like watching some guy do stupid things on the internet, please like and subscribe.

Love the build, love the direction you're heading with your printer. Love the tunes. Thanks Bort.

I love the warts and all attitude. Yes it is really good for us viewers to see what does not work and your methods. Great work thanks formyou time and efforts to share with the you tube community.

Everyone has a different environment. But I've found that the printer alone makes enough heat to keep everything warm. I stopped trying to "upgrade" everything because none of it made a difference. With the one exception of the all metal hot end. Keeping drafts off of ABS and PETG are pretty critical.

My printer's environment is pretty hostile. The upgrades did make noticeable difference for me. In the end, I "upgraded" to a more modern printer.

It's always great when a technical failure based on initial requirements is still a cause for celebration!

Yeah I would have preferred that everything work perfectly the first time, but I also don't want to present the illusion that my projects always go that way.

Like it! Just hanging on the sofa enjoying your video ☺️ Have in mind a similar project soon with an Ikea Pax. Still sourcing stuff.

@10:30, you could also have achieved 500 watts for a quarter of what you spent. Instead of using a second heater, just remove 2 of the elements of the 1000W heater. Is it just me, or is that 'enclosure' full of gaps??? I just made my first enclosure this week out of 7mm plywood and covered the inside walls with that silver faced 3mm foam floor underlay. I also sealed around the door with draft sealing rubber strips. I put a 12" x 10" glass panel in the door so I could monitor the printing. Granted, my enclosure is only about 24" x 24" x 24", but the 12volt, 120mm x 120mm heater bed (Monoprice Select Mini / Malyan M200) maintains the temperature inside the enclosure at a steady 57 degrees C. It works soooo well, I'm getting fantastic prints with ABS. No warping or splitting at all...

Thanks for the advice. Removing some of the elements didn't seem safe or practical to me. And yes, the enclosure is far from perfect. I'm glad that yours is working well for you.

I’m just kind of jumping around this video at the moment. Looking to build something for my Neptune 3 Max, which looks to be roughly the same size as your machine. I’m curious what printer you have?

@@uselessstuff8031 Excellent! Thanks. Have you done ABS in your enclosure? That's what I'm researching for.

Never tried ABS. Sorry. I don't have the necessary ventilation in my work area. I'm having success with ASA on a Bambu X1C.

Where did you source those first elec heaters you didn't end up using?

@@uselessstuff8031 Yes, I am currently building an enclosure and may include active heating after I get the abs exhaust working adequately...👍

How did you build that enclosure? What rails did you use?
@uselessstuff8031
@uselessstuff8031 3 года назад
The rails are 2020, from zyltech. I would have preferred to use 3030 or larger. The panels are all 1/8" acrylic. Again I wanted to go larger, 3/16". The project was completed on a small budget. At the time I didn't anticipate wanting to heat the enclosure. If I had, I might have made some different design decisions.
