Sue, I have watched so many videos on Resin design Art just about everything. I have been watching craft showings and that is fine. That is actually what I was looking for is a new craft. You on the other hand are creating art. What I have seen you create is absolutely breathtaking. I truly aspire to become as 1/2 as good as you are some day. Congratulations on your channel and wishing you all the best.
Hi Sue, lovely scouse accent, i think you've answered the question i was going to ask, i'm a portrait artist usually, but just started dabblin' with sculpture, i want to coat one of my pieces of work with resin to strengthen it, that's a wonderful piece of art you've created and i have just subscribed,
Once again another Fabulous piece! That is so cool, a sculpture on canvas (board) I've been thinking about working with clay, but that's as far as it's gone. Just thinking. I would really enjoy working with different elements and mediums. I am so grateful you have the courage to experiment with so many mediums and share your process. I hope you know, that you are such an inspiration. I am so glad I've found your channel. ~Namaste
You are my new favorite artist. I love all the different kinds of art that you do. I love this but I think I will try your forest Technic that you did but in this tree design and add the potpourri for leaves.
Yes polymer clay! That would work wonderfully and I think ultimately might save steps and be easier. Wonderful project an I am excited to try this with polymer clay and mica powder and then resin of course! 😄🤩
That is very beautiful ,,I even have some of the cutters you used as I use them for polyme clay, I have the leaf one, 3 sets of daisy cutters and 4 of the blossom each set of flower cutters in different sizes, normal make bracelets from the clay cut outs, love watching your videos, very inspiring.🌻🏵🌺🌹🌷👍
@@SueFindlay That's so true Sue,,there will always be a use for items and even unwanted ones, I used old canvases, painted the background by strippling with sponge letting dry then collage,on it, learnt that at art class,it's great what you do with the resin,I wouldn't have a clue!!!!❤🌹🌺🏵👍
What a beautiful piece Sue! You have taught me so much in the resin world and my projects have turned out quite well. I can’t wait to try this one. Thank you for sharing!🇨🇦
Nice to see someone else using clay with resin!! :) I use polymer clay with resin all the time. I bake it first but I have seen someone else do a video using unbaked polymer clay in resin and they said it held up fine over time. I just like the polymer clay better because I am used to using it and it comes in so many colors already including my favorite - glow in the dark - which isn't really a color but... :p - Heidi
@@karentravis3996 I usually bake my clay in a dedicated toaster oven but there have been some times when the clay piece was too big for the toaster oven and I used my regular gas oven. I have not noticed any residue left in my oven from the few times I have used it to bake clay pieces. :)
Sue... I've been wanting to do something Similar to this, so glad to see what you created and the tips you've given. This is a beautiful piece!! Thanks.
Absolutely stunning! 🤩 You are such an inspiration! I have been working in resin for the past several months and had reached a standstill. Last winter I worked in air dry clay. I did a lot of faerie work. I found your channel searching for inspiration. I am so grateful to have found you! God bless! 😍💖🌻🧚🏼
Even though you didn’t want the leaves to curl, I think it turned out beautiful! I love the extra texture and depth the curled leaves give this piece! I’m very interested in trying this technique, thank you so much for sharing. 😊
Nice video. I'm looking forward to your polymer clay results. I use unbaked polymer clay, tacked down with a little glue, textured with different tools, painted & have had no problems.
Another medium that you might try is cold porcelain. You make it yourself and there are a number of recipes out there. Most people try two or three and then pick their favorite. It doesn't crack and is much less likely for the thin pieces to break. It's fairly flexible when it's dry. You can get it SUPER thin without sacrificing strength. I used to make flowers out of it and they're so beautiful and strong, considering their thickness.
I have tried my hand at this using epoxy putty to make the tree and leaves, and used PVA glue to stick it to the base, allowed it to dry and then poured resin around it...to make a thin film on the whole piece. It turned out well.
Oh Sue, this is beautiful...it may have inspired me a little. I think I might try doing this with Apoxie Sculpt. I have had it laying around here waiting on a project and I’ve always wanted to do a tree of life. I will let you know how the Apoxie Sculpt works. This would be a piece for myself, not to sell. Love it. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Beautiful Sue!! Great innovation to use different things to create interest in your resin work! :D Now I need a mat to do the one you did with the silicone mat and curled the resin.
I love seeing how you use different mediums together. I've used homemade air dry clay for a lot of things and love working with it but it does have it's little quirks. The draw back is that it should be dried for several days to make sure it's completely dried before being painted and sealed to avoid it molding in the future. I've also used polymer clay also which avoids the time delay, but I prefer the air dry for molding.
Can’t tell you Sue how much I love this piece 💕 it’s the closest to my heart 💖 Do you prime your boards in general first with transparent material like clear gesso? Because I’m wondering how do you keep the wooden raw look! It looks much better than the white gesso, I know I cover it with resin later so it doesn’t make difference the colour of the primer. But the sides of the board can show the difference, because if the sides are not fully covered with resin (some missing spots), it’s better to have the wooden raw look than the white gesso. You know what I mean?
I don't bother priming these placemats because I normally use them for testing and experimenting on. I may paint them a colour to match the base colour of the resin I am about to pour. 💕
This is just AMAZING!! WOW! You're so talented. I've got some Vitrium Air Dry Clay which is labelled as Resin Clay, and I was wondering if you have ever used Resin Clay before? I'm trying to find out more about it, but I haven't had any luck so far. Thank you for sharing this lovely artwork with us ❤️ Love from Amanda Jones in Australia xox
Thank you Sue!! I wanted something that I could add a 3D texture for rocks and a tree to incorporate into my resin scene! Thank you so much for the experiment!! I have also noticed some people have used Joint compound... have you tried that? BTW...this is beautiful!
First of all I have to say that I love your videos. You are a inspiration. Thank you. 💞 Can you give any ideas on what else I could do to make the leaves or where to get the cutter you used? I’m doing a different project & the leaves would be great. Love all work artwork Sue. Thanks again. 🤗
You have completely amazed me with the work you do. So talented! One of a thousand questions: When you pour resin on your flat surfaces (like round boards) why doesn't it all run off? My resin is very thin and does not set fast at all. I feel I'm wasting too much resin on the run-off. You seem to mention several resins and I don't know which ones to go with.
It sounds like you are mixing too much. Do you use a resin calculator for the amount of resin you need? I use www.uresin.com.au/art-calculators/ to calculate how much I need. If that doesn't work, then try another brand. Mastercast 1:2:1 or Stonecoat resins are popular choices.
Hi sue..I have watched this video many times and it has inspired me to try one. I have all the stuff but am curious about the background. Did you use the gold with the red brown glitter? Or is it just the glitter with resin that makes the color? EXCITED to start. Ty for the inspiration
Gorgeous, gorgeous! I’m a bit frightened of any sort of clay, do you think various plys of twine or yarn and potpourri (inspired by another video of yours) might work? Thanks for your inspiration. ❤️🌟🙏
Most definitely, dip the twine and yarn into your resin, run it through your fingers (wearing gloves of course) to remove the excess and then apply to your board. It will cure nice and hard. Incidentally, you have given my ideas for some new pieces 😉 thank you 💕
This is great Sue, are you in Perth also? I’ve bought air dry clay to use as a “wood” substitute look for placing in my silicone jewellery moulds. But I’ll also try adding themes or 3D texture to some boards or geode creations. Looks like you use the same round boards from Kmart that I use, sooooo cheap n awesome. Lovely art. X
Hi Sue, do we need to seal the air dry clay after the design is dry? I was thinking about mod podge/resin to apply at the front. Because I’m wondering if someone cleans the piece later with damp cloth, can the air dry clay absorbs moisture and becomes soft again. Or once the design is dry, it can’t get soft again? Thanks
