My best friend Brendan went from jumping off 30 foot rocks to doing triple backflips off waterfalls in only a handful of months. His journey with extreme sports lead him down an exciting yet dangerous path, resulting in a big injury. The risks Brendan took to chase adrenaline shows the reality of extreme sports, and ultimately is a story of maturity, consequences, and friendship.
For those of you that are wondering what happened to Brendan, the impact of the water knocked him unconscious for about 30 seconds, face down. Jacob had to dive in and help him out of the water. In the end, Brendan only had a concussion and bruising, though the doctor said it was a miracle he didn’t inhale water. I didn’t feel it was appropriate showing all the footage of the incident, or recount it in detail, out of respect for his friends and family. Ultimately I believe the story can still be appreciated with out all the details. But, for those of you with curious minds, hopefully this helps shed light on that day.
