I mostly annotate my books when I’m reading them on a digitally format, and something I do is I paste the links of memes that reflect my reactions whatever scenes or dialogues I’m reading.
I love annotating my books! It just makes me so happy to go back to it later and see all my thoughts. It feels almost like a personal diary in a way since all your thoughts and feelings are written out on the pages. I tend to annotate more on rereads and I think that’s because I don’t keep every physical book I read. If It wasn’t an amazing read for me I end up donating the book instead of keeping it. So rereads are when I annotate the most! Unless it’s like Jodie where I KNOW I’m going to love the book then I mark that book up on the first read! Haha
This video was really helpful I have been interested in tabbing my books but I never knew where to start :) so thanks Jodie seeing the tabs in your ACOTAR books is so satisfying and I loved your vlogs for your rereads :)
I was looking at your bookshelf and saw my favoriteeeee series, which is SO UNDERATED. Thank you for having it in your collection:). Btw its the "Graceling Realm" series.
I could not write on my books but I love taking notes on a separate notebook. I also use tabs to mark a 50 pages/80 pages milestones throughout the book so that it helps me getting a better view of my reading progress. And I also stick one in a different color to mark the middle of the book. It is so interesting the technics used by the rest of the viewers ☺. Lovely video as always Jodie!
I love annotating! I don’t do it on every book but there’s some that really enhance the reading experience. I think I’ll do it more on re reads when I know what I want to tag. Otherwise it’s a lot of research before reading on themes and stuff
🖋️Very informative video, Jodie! Thank you! I recently started to annotating my books and it is one of most fun things to do! I'm still to scared to actually write in my books so I just use sticky notes that match the colors of the book, write on those and stick them in!
Can you please do a spoiler reading vlog for house of sky and breath. I love your Sarah j maas reading vlogs so much and want to know all your thoughts about the book when it comes out
I love to annotate my books, and always do annotate, probably because annotating your books makes it feel like you own that book and that book feels like yours! Btw, love you so much Jodie, ur content always makes me so happy
I was never taught not to write in books. Now there are books I don’t write in and those are books that don’t belong to me aka library books or borrowed books, I watched another annotated video and she said annotating is like having a conversation with the author and the characters, so that motivates me to annotate more because I get to yell and get angry or happy with the characters. It’s so much fun.
I've only annotated one book so far and I really enjoyed it, I felt far more engaged with the book and it helped me remember so much more of what was going on. I only used tabs as I was too nervous to write in it, but after watching this I think I might give highlighting etc a go 🖋️📚 x
Thanks for such an informative video! I do not annotate my books at present, but I can see how valuable this practice could be. Going to start on my next read!
Jodie the queen of book world your every video is stunning I always existing for your new video and I waiting for your bookshelves and your beautiful library tour , I hope you well be do that for us pleasssssss , and also your beauty and personality is amazing
I didn't do much annotating in high school. Our English classes were kind of a joke lol. This is really helpful since now that I am in college, annotating is necessary! Thanks!
My first book I annotated was ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ such a good book if you haven’t read it. Bit different to your normal reads. I need to try fantasy, always sounds exciting 📚
📚 I started annotating in books for my reviews on GR and for finding important parts and great quotes easily later. I do it in one colour, matching with the cover. But, sice another Booktuber I follow said, that some of her tabs riped off the ink after a while, and others just fell off, I'm afraid 😅 So I started putting them at the bottom of the pages and using a very soft pencil to mark the important things. For poetry I use only emojis for great, good, meh, and can't relate at all.
I love to annotate my books. I can’t get myself to write in books so I use translucent sticky notes so I can. I have been thinking more and more about just writing in the books though! 🖊
📖🖋️ I personally do not annotate. I'm one of those people who try to keep my books looking new and I don't want to mess them up. I would annotate school books, but not my personal books.
I love to annotate with tabs and sticky notes but i refuse to write and highlight i my books. Lol. I might have to try writing in at least one book, right????
It feels like sacrilege to mark a book or book page! I'm always too frightened to ruin my books this way; I think you have courage! But to put ink onto a book page. Stop. Noooo...I'm having palpitations! I am now fortunate to have eBooks, where you can highlight, take notes and mess around as much as you like, without damaging anything! Now I think I will go away and have a stiff drink and collapse! 🤔🔨
Hehe! That’s why it’s so great that we can all have our own opinions and ways of doing things! 🥰 I’m glad you like doing it to ebooks where as I love doing it to my physical books! 😘
I can't write or draw in books either, it's something that was ingrained into me in childhood to respect books and not to mark them in any way. I never even wrote in my Open University books. my main reason apart from not wanting to spoil the book is that i may read the book differently and won't want to see my scrawl in it so that is why. I certainly don't annotate the books i read for pleasure.
I love annotating books and I hate all the judgement towards annotating like why do people care what other people write in THEIR books it literally isn't hurting anyone and if you don't annotate your books then you're boring and you're doing reading wrong lol
