You lose honour just running over animals that you didn't even see. Not sure skinning them after can fix it.

​@@goatlpsI ran over lots of animals by accident, didn't lose honor. But that might be because I went with the logic of "might as well take their pelt and provision while I'm here."

im pretty sure its impossible bc the mission where youre robbing the trolly w dutch and lenny you have to rob the folks inside the station and that results in honor loss

Police will still lose your Honor most of the time, for instance in the mission with Micah you lose Honor for it.

Nah, there's no civilians in town during the shootout, there's enemies who aren't technically law who you don't lose Honor for killing, and actual law who are like the ones in free roam who you do lose Honor for killing, but the game heavily encourages you to kill them to progress. There's a few law who come from the Sheriff's office who can be killed without Honor loss but any law you kill after that point, I'm pretty sure will lose you Honor. I like to think they did this deliberately just to hammer home how much of an ass Micah is.

I agree it is fickle. I’ll be continuing this series and it should be interesting to see how certain missions like the gray shootout in Rhodes or the trolley station play out with honor. Might be impossible or maybe possible.

Oh those should be fine. For the most part, missions where you're being swarmed with cops and have to kill them to progress don't penalise your Honor for it. In my current playthrough, where as usual I do as much in Chapter 2 as I can and treat my Honor meter like it's my child, the only times I've lost Honor is accidentally, like running someone over with my horse, the mission with Micah which seems to be the exception rather than the rule, or random encounters I don't react to fast enough. I reload my save when that happens because it's so much easier to lose Honor than gain it. For story missions you'll be fine as long as you make the right choices when they're given to you.
