I love how welcoming the team was to you. When I went out to tryout for kicker for my team no one wanted me on the field not even the coach. I kicked farther than the boys. Keep up the good work.

It’s always awesome to see another girl who has also played football! After recovering from an ACL/Meniscus reconstruction surgery my sophomore year, I decided I’d try something other than volleyball, so I joined football. Best decision I’ve ever made. I’m grateful that I had teammates and coaches just like hers that were supportive all the way through, because football is byfar the hardest sport I’ve ever played physically and mentally (especially at my position considering my size). My first year playing defensive tackle I also made varsity. Kudos to you mamas!

this is amazing. When I was in high school, 2008 - 2011, it was unheard of for a girl to be on the football team. It was a flat out, stubborn no. I grew up in Middlesex County, NJ, which is considered a relatively liberal place, especially for young people. This one girl I graduated with campaigned and campaigned for a chance on the team and it was this hugeeee controversy. She eventually did make it on the team, but I think it took like, a year or two for a chance at try outs. It was pretty wild how stubborn the coaches were considering another girl in the class ahead of us held every single weight lifting record - my little sister goes to that same high school now and her records still stand.

I was the only girl in advanced wood shop my junior year. After the boys figured out that I wasn't there to date but really just needed the credit and wanted practice working with tools and wood, they were pretty cool about it, except this one sociopath that kept destroying my projects. The other boys were pretty mad about that, too (I am pretty sure who it was, but there was never any proof, my teacher ended up locking my projects in his desk to protect them).

i’ve been seeing all of these videos of girls playing football and it makes me want to make my decision to play. i have been i love with football for years but i’ve only been a cheerleader my whole life. but i’ve finally made my decision to play a few months ago and i’m honestly so scared but also very exited.

i was a kicker on my schools football team in 7th grade, i decided to run cross country in 8th grade instead later learned i was really good at offense too good to the point where a bunch of the guys planned to beat me up at practice but i had club soccer practice and missed it lucky i guess

In all honesty and seriousness, I may be a bit late to this but I am glad Julia made her way as a qb, she didn’t give up and I like that she built tough skin and learned to be naturally with the dudes as in have the nature of a football player and not bring the excuse “I’m a girl so we do it my way” they know she’s a girl and they respect her and treat her no differently than the dudes and any other girl, just play well and she did and she respects the norms. The norm includes letting females play very competitive sports and if there are some girls that are very talented from all the other girls leagues above them then put them with the dudes and they will be a unstoppable force. Yes women can be powerful, and just cause I say that doesn’t mean I’m a feminist , I’m not. But just cause I like to see girls play sports and have fun and perform well and be naturally beautiful at that same time those preferences of mine doesn’t mean I am woke or a feminist, I’m a sane person and I’m conservative but a rational and moderate conservative. Besides I like girls that can give me a good challenge, my gf is an example that she is smoking hot and can ball really fricking good beating me a few times in basketball and soccer. It be boring as fuck if she couldn’t play sports.

I know that she is very brave and all of that, but being a kicker is very easy compared to positions like the tackle and guards where it is physical. No hate, I’m just saying her position isn’t as difficult as many of the others. I still support her and wish her the best of luck!

I play as a linebacker and I am also the only girl on my team. Joining the York Centurions was the best decision I have ever made. All the guys treat me like one of the lads and it honestly made me wonder where the hell this stereotype that girls can't play NFL came from. If you have passion for the sport then you go out there and play it, no one is stopping you!! If anyone says different then fuck them. You're in charge of your life.

If the school receives federal funds, and virtually every high school does, it is against the law to prevent girls from playing football.

The same schools, who accept Federal Funds, can prevent boys from being on the cheerleading squad, or playing volleyball or field hockey, so it is how you interpret the law. That is why there are cases in Federal Courts dealing with transgenders as you can't somewhat discriminate based on gender. By the way, cheerleading is coed at college levels so why can't boys do it at the high school level?

Is in not just a normal thing in America for girls to do football? Where I live in Ireland, it’s just as normal for girls to do football as boys. Every school they’res a girl’s football team, and a boys football team. I hate that in America, the boys seem to be the outstanding strong people and the girls just cheer them on in skimpy outfits..
