How I Became a Full-Time Artist (Painting for Over 5 Years) 

I agree with another commenter here, YOU telling a story while you are actually making a painting come to life as we watch and hear - THAT is pretty special, very compelling. You asked what would we / I like to see in your future videos . . . I would like to see and hear you talk about the things that you enjoy the most in your painting process, especially when you feel you have broken through some block and achieved something new as an Artist. Your story is so inspiring! It blows me away that you were able to find a real mentor so early on. I'm 30, and I've never known another artist that could potentially mentor me. My family is shit and I've never had close friends. I have some art skills, but I don't know if they're actually worth anything. If I could just meet someone like that who saw something in me it would change everything. You got so lucky having that support at that age. You have my support! Seeing you live a dream like that is awesome! For future videos: I want to see information about how to become a professional self-employed artist/painter with no artistic education, support, or guidance from anyone!

Hi Brooke, I watched all your mentor videos with Tim, they blew my mind. I’ve been making my art my entire life, I’ve always believed I had the skill to make a living as an artist, it’s been my dream. I’ve sort of pursued other creative avenues thinking they were more feasible to make a living off of. You’ve inspired me to make another go at it. I’m 42, I have a family and responsibilities at work, so it will be tough. I want to say thanks, you and Tim have given me new motivation to try again.

Very interesting "alternate life" to me. My mom's family is from Vienna, I briefly went to school at Guelph, kind of felt like I missed a beat by not combining art and nature with something practical (often I thought about landscape architecture or graphic design for a science publication), and years later I'm right back to art.

Hi, Brooke! I am hooked since 5 or 6 years old with all kinds of drawing and painting that I never thought was anything super special. As I moved into my adult years I took all of this much more seriously and painted a lot! Shows and sales followed - most were pretty successful ( that spelling doesn't right no matter what I do!) - and like a lot of people raising a family and climbing the company ladder took much too much time......especially painting time. I dabbled, I messed around with ideas. Most paths never got really explored ......and then we moved. From central PA (USA) to middle GA which was a huge adjustment in climate, food, and language!! My ties with the folks through whom most of my work was sold were now 900 miles away and my job seemed to take up all of my creative energies. At this point, I'm looking at retirement in the next couple of weeks.......and PAINTING again! Can't wait!!! When you are on your channel, Please remember to add this script into your talks. I suspect that there are many of us that are out here that could use a bit of a push like I hear you having knowledge of. Thanks for your time. I appreciate you.... David

I really love your videos, i always come across them and finally hit the subscribe button. I lived in Vienna for 6 years and attended a graphic design school. But my inner Artist is so hungry. I moved to the alps a while ago. One of the many reasons, is the inspiration the mountains give me. It seems we lived in vienna at the same time. I would like to know what it was that inspired you so much in vienna, and what you did besides painting. Also id love to know where in the alps you have been. I wish you the very best, and i am looking forward to seeing more of you (since i like your character as i can say) and your art.

I’d love to know more about achieving a good texture and consistency with oil paints! That’s my main struggle. I never know how much medium to add (and which one!!) to my paint, resulting in paints that don’t mix together as well as I’d like. Also all the social media aspect which is another struggle of mine. Anyway welcome back to RU-vid! :)

I would love color mixing tutorials. Or maybe rather how you see color. Working off a printed picture and explaining your thought process as to the colors changes

You inspire me so much! I started oil painting when I was 6 (thanks Barbie Rapunzel) but stopped to focus on college. I miss it so dearly and following you always brings me that sensation of nostalgia and will of coming back on being creative. Since you asked for suggestions, I’d love to watch tutorials of course (especially on doing shadows and all kinds of color contrast hehe), what inspired you/the story behind the series you made so far (like a Brooke Cormier BTS) and idk, maybe a coffeeshop talk about books, movies and other artists that generally bring you that *sparkle*. Admire you and your work tons! ❤️
