What steps have you completed, and which ones do you still have to work on? :)

I can’t afford your course, but I appreciate the fact that you have still named the steps and given us the basic info about the steps. 😊 I also admire how well you managed to give some description on the steps without giving away what people will learn when they pay for the course.

Thank you for the sweet comment! As I always say, my courses are not necessary to succeed and I know you will do great things in your career regardless ❤ If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out!

Thank you Ness, that's very generous of you to outline these steps also for those who for whatever reason are not able to partake in your bootcamp right now. Just for comparison, last week I encountered an art marketing "guru" who after her free masterclass began bombarding me with e-mails about her magical miracle system that skyrockets artists right into unbelievable success with crowds of followers, loads of sales and international comissions but wouldn't give any convincing details about it unless I paid 2400$ which I'm certainly not gonna do, hahhaa! That kind of attitude simply feels like cheating which it is. Best of luck with your bootcamp and thank you for your energy emitting videos! Often when my artistic tires go flat, I watch one of your videos and feel boosted with new determination and confidence 🙏♥️🌟🔥👏!

I always appreciate your videos so so much ❤ currently trying to transition from my full time art job into freelance illustration, oh boy it’s hard.. mostly it’s the limited time in a day that I can spend working on my portfolio. I also tend to overthing and scare myself that it’s not going to work, so whenever I watch your videos I always get huge motivation boost and I can focus on my actual plan. It helps a lot with my anxiety too. Just wanted to say thank you! 🤗

Awww thank you so much for the sweet comment! I know how frustrating it is when you have big plans and the limited time to dedicate to it gets in the way... Hang in there!! As long as you keep moving towards your goals one little step at a time, you WILL get there one day!!

I'd want to save up to get to your course, been wanting to join for awhile now. I'm still pretty new to children's book illustrations. from consistently connecting and networking, i got myself my very first client!

I’m fascinated by this 😃I watch a illustrator often on RU-vid and wonder if it’s something I could do, but need to be good at drawing first 😅

great tips, I'm thinking about contacting Illustration Quebec for next year... but not sure if it's a good idea... I had some big clients but they are not as frequent as I like to go 100% freelancer
@ArtBusinesswithNess
@ArtBusinesswithNess Год назад
Why not? Illustration Quebec is a paid publicity service, I don't think they have any minimum requirements for buying a membership. But also, paying for their membership does not guarantee work in return.

Thank you very much for all the advice ☺️ I'm preparing my illustration portfolio at the moment and I was wondering if there is a time of year when it is most recommended to send it or if the period makes no difference. Thank you so much!
@ArtBusinesswithNess
@ArtBusinesswithNess Год назад
There are some times that don't work as well to send our portfolio, like summer and half of December. With people in and out of the office, not much happens during those times so it's a bit of a down time for freelancers! Apart from that, it's really luck that will determine if you contact an art director at the exact moment they need art like yours... So I suggest following up often!
@Saras-my6zw
@Saras-my6zw Год назад
@@ArtBusinesswithNess Thank you very much ☺️🤗 So you recommend letting the summer pass and sending the portfolio directly in September? 🤔 Or towards the end of the summer? Thanks again! Sorry for so many questions but I'm a self-taught illustrator so I still have a lot to learn about some things 😥
@ArtBusinesswithNess

@@Saras-my6zw August is probably a good time to resume! The summer is a good opportunity to take a break from marketing and create a lot of art to hit the ground running in the fall :)

Hmmm. Joining SCBWI is only 80.00 a year and their resources give you access to publishers, workshops agents portfolio critiques manuscript pitches etc all in your region, country or state or province pretty much world wide.
@ArtBusinesswithNess
@ArtBusinesswithNess Год назад
I joined it in the first year of my career and really didn't find it very helpful at all. But we all have different experiences :) And the regional chapters are all different too - some like mine are almost non-existent, but others are great resources. If it works for you, I'm very happy for you and it seems you don't need my courses at all! Not everyone does :)
