As it turns out , the Ottomans are pretty good in Age of Empires 4. All it takes is guns, lots of guns. Music from the Heartbound OST Watch me on Twitch: / mrstublin
Another banger! Few tips I could offer are: Mangonels have a damage bonus against ranged units for some reason. You could've deleted that English player's entire longbowmen horde in two or three shots. Also, ranged units don't move around as much as melee units, so they're also easier for mangonels to hit. Generally, if the enemy has ranged units and melee units, you want to target the ranged units with the mangonel Janissaries can repair siege equipment. Villagers can also repair siege equipment. Great bombards are super valuable, so just using one villager to repair them is worth it or, better yet, just have janissaries guarding the bombard and also have them repair it whenever it takes damage. Water. One of your maps had four lakes in the corners. Water economy is busted. Making a second TC costs like 650 or 750 resources. Making a dock costs 150 resources. It only takes 25 seconds for a dock to make a fishing ship, which is barely slower than town centers making a villager in 20 seconds. Imagine having your TC pumping plus a dock pumping fishing ships. If your dock was built 45 seconds into the game and you had almost constant production of fishing ships and villagers (which is definitely possible) then by the 5 minute mark, you would have 10 fishing ships and 20 villagers. If you built no dock, you would just have 20 villagers. That's 50% more economy only five minutes into the game. Your feudal age up will definitely be slowed, but your castle and imperial will be even faster. Additionally, fishing boats gather food from deep water fish faster than villagers gather food from most resources un-upgraded. Water build orders are extremely powerful. On any map with a lot of fish, if one player goes for fish and the other doesn't, the player who goes for fish will win probably more than 80% of the time. Players below gold are afraid of water and think it's too complicated, which means if you use a water build order, then you will win pretty much all of the water maps you play on since your opponents are very unlikely to try to fish.
This is an awesome write up! I'm dumb and forgot that villagers could repair siege, but i 100% didn't know about Janissaries having that ability. I definitely will have to learn to pivot to water if the map allows it, I can see how valuable that is but id have to figure out how to rebalance the wood eco to support the ships.
Awesome job learning some build orders they will help you immensely starting out, biggest advice I can give you watching your game, use attack move (A+Left Click) It would've won many of the fights with much less management required. Keep it up mate, cheers!
"Let me play a little!" "Do you want to battle???" "Do you want to bvattle???" "Or do I surrender??" "Speak!!" Then he says smth i don't know how to translate.. just a general expression of frustration I guess. Lmao he got pretty tilted i think xD Gotta hit him with the "no hablo español" or 'espaniol' if you dont have the ñ.
I love the videos!! Just a quick tip, I think you should just focus on always building villagers until you have 100-120 vills. Usually at this level just having that ammount of vills will win you the game. Managing more vills will also help you learn to multi-task. Most important is always to have fun tho:)
This is why I generally fare a lot better in aoe2 because of arena. I can build up to 140-150 vills (fast castle into 3-4 TC boom) there relatively safely and win because of my economy (even with meme 40 persian elephants - ofc I'm at a lower elo) while in aoe4 I have to weather the early aggression (even in bronze) to make use of my larger vill count. D:
All you need to do to get to gold is to apply pressure, from what i can see you sit and dont expand untill age 4 or late 3 which is bad and aggresive players will just eat you. Harass his gold, put some towers/walls to block his agression and you will be miles better.
A few tips I have for you: - You can use F1 to select all military buildings at once so you won't need to spend so much time finding them, to cycle through them just press tab. - If you're having trouble with the minimap you can change the size of it in the UI section of settings. - If you have the attention please send a few units away from the main army to important resources the opponent might be gathering from when attacking. - Using all idle military is a huge help to make sure all your units are in on the attack instead of idling in the middle of the map. The setting is found in Controls subcategory Unit Selection so you can remap it to something better than the default hotkey. - Lastly, I am an almost top player so I would be happy to give you tips more if you need any.
Just on that, F1 selects all military buildings like Dragev says, and F2 shows you your economic buildings, and F3 shows you your educational buildings, university etc
first game you have to have a select all army or all idle army key, theres no way you have armies standing everywhere and you spend time searching them and clicking them
yeah, but its really inconvenient. i suggest going to settings, controls, and remap controls. theres a lot that isnt even mapped and its very useful. like controlling the scouts and monks without assigning control groups to them, docks, barracks, etc. even select all cav ange , all this stuff can save you apm@@StublinAround
As a veteran in RTS just joining the AOE4 community this series is my favourite atm. You show some true progress and i hope we keep improving together brother 🙏 Your last opponent asked you if you wanted him to surrender i think Cheers you son of a fruit *Edit: You're the funniest guy and your editing is supurb
I think for the fastest possible progress you need a few rounds of live coaching, you may well be making a lot of little macro mistakes that accumulate. If an experienced player coached you for a few rounds and you took a few notes you would probably come up with a few things to keep in mind. Once you have reached gold, you could set platinum as your next goal. Then you could definitely make more great videos😉
WASD for the most part. Used to do edge scrolling when I was younger and first played RTS like 15 years ago, but with playing so many first person/third person games I default to that now.
@@StublinAroundbreak that habit now. WASD is meant for grid keys, not movement. For fast movement to specific units use control groups. It feels “natural” right now being that you’re new to the genre, but once you get used to only using your mouse or only using control groups your skills will drastically increase
Your biggest problem isn't strategy, builds or anything else. You're not making enough villagers. If you just teach yourself to keep producing villagers the entire game you'll become so much better. You're looking at fights not making villagers when continuous villager and unit production would mean you'd not have to micro at all. You'd have so much more stuff than them. Keep making villagers whatever happens. Stop at 120 if you reach that. But honestly just never stop making villagers until it becomes an actual problem because you have too many. If you've reached that point it'll be easy to fix; but trying to reach that point is what makes you a better player.
@@StublinAroundWell your intro reminds me to Pokemon fire red where when you boot up it tells you what you did last. Love it, add in the humor just awesome. Also if you have any interest in playing teams, me and my friend are always looking for more people to play with. Playing with people can help you get comfortable with the game more.
This weekend most likely. The audio was a bit blown out and it kind of hampered how I like to try to present these and killed my motivation a bit creatively. So just trying to work thru that.
