I think having both bunnies neutered/spayed prior to bonding is so important.

Bonding bunnies is NOT an easy process (most of the time), but it's so worth it! It can be very overwhelming! All bunnies are so different and what works for some bunnies may not work for others.
-
If you've been following along with Denzel and Sully's bonding, you know they had many ups and downs. We started bonding in the bathtub, and while it worked well for us for a while, we ended up getting a playpen and trying out 24/7 bonding.
Now we have 2 free roaming bunnies!

People that think bunnies belong outside don’t realize how similar bunnies are to cats.someone asked me how often I wash the bunny,I said never,and explained that if a cat lives outside they stink but an indoor cat does not stink, and same goes for bunnies

Yeah bunnies share a lot of similarities with cats! They can use a litter box, roam around the house, come when called and a bunch more

When they have scuffles and lil fights how do you know when to seperate them? I have two boys and they get into lil fights alot so ive been struggling to bond them been wondering if maybe im being too scared and seperating them too fast?

@@papyrus_thebest248 no there not neutered! We’re planning to neuter them when there 2 or 3 months old! Basically I let them run around in the yard or there play pen with supervision of cousin and block them every time the fight or scuffle!

Yes!! I’m in the same boat right now with my un fixed male and female. I just have their cages beside eachother right now with a little space in between . So they atleast get used to seeing each other so when they are fixed they will be a little familiar with each other . Soon I hope for them to free roam together

If you have two male bunnies you must get them both desexed before bonding or else they'll try to kill each other. Bunnies are very territorial.

I’m starting this Friday and have a few questions. When they would have a tiff what did to do? And in the middle of the night when they would have a tiff? And did you stop the mounting at all? That’s usually when mine start “biting”?

DO you have to keep them in the pen for several days? Like I work and I am not able to be home so I would need to take them out of the bonding when I leave for work and then put them back in it when I got home. Would that be a bad thing? Would it take longer to bond?

They say if they can go 24 hours without scuffles, they are safe to live together.

You need at least a wk to spend with them, every time you expand their space it can set them back so to say 24hrs is just not right.

Did you keep them in the playpen the whole time, or did you let them out to exercise some?

24/7 bonding means they are kept in the same enclosure 24/7. Typically they will not have to spend more than a few days in the small space that you begin with. You are to gradually expand the amount of living space (as long as progress is being made) until you get to the point that they are able to coexist in the entire area that they will be living. It’s tough to keep them so confined but in the grand scheme of things it’s only a small sacrifice to make when the outcome is a potential bonded partner for the bunnies. You have to move pretty slowly when expanding their space though, rushing can sometimes have the opposite effect and cause fights to occur which means you have to take a few steps back and reduce the amount of space again.
