Pretty good video I would say about seawalls. My friend owns a shipping yard and they put them in all the time. This is pretty much what he says. Also good with no stupid music

Awesome project! We appreciate your positivity and thankfulness. Can i ask about your experience with permitting? I live on Lake Eustis in central FL (Lake County). I want to do my own seawall, but everyone recommends against it due to permitting nightmares.
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 8 месяцев назад
Permitting took 3 months. Here in the panhandle it's a 3 step process. 1. Army Core engineer approval 2. Florida DEP approval 3. Local City approval. Need plans, Engineering and a land Survey included in your application. I drew my own plans and engineering.

When you say tractor...how big of one do you need to drive the sheets in? Just drive them using the bucket? Amazing work! What kind of quotes were you getting to hire the job out? Did you fail any inspections along the way?
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 4 месяца назад
One big enough to use a vibrator plate. In my case, 11k lb excavator. Just a bucket takes too long and inconsistent Hammering.
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 4 месяца назад
Only one inspection. Passed. 34k quote.

Great Wall bud… but your corners are backwards. Look at the cmi installation guide.

Thanks for the info, great looking build. A few questions if you don’t mind. Do you drive tie back piles for each sea wall wood pile? Or do you only use sheet pile with out wooden piles ?Do you use the manta ray style soils anchors at all?
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 Год назад
You need to drive tiebacks every 5.4 ft of seawall. however I did mine every 5ft. So every 5 ft of linear wall you need to have a tie back. Also it's best if you put drag plates on your tie-back pile. Only use manta ray system if you have an obstruction in your way for traditional pile system.

Awesome job you did. What was the cost involved ?
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 11 месяцев назад
Total for all the equipment rented and all material used was 12,500. But it took me 33 long days

@@darinjuliesims354 Was that with inflation lol. There is a home for sale that i am thinking of buying but the bulkhead failed and needs to be replaced. Estimated cost is supposedly $38K with only a 5 year warranty. To me at that price it needs to last a hell of a lot longer. Seems these days to not get ripped off and have the job done right you need to do it yourself. I have ZERO knowledge when it comes to building or replacing a bulkhead.

@darinjuliesims354 11 месяцев назад
@@dcal1736 honestly I had no experience or knowledge before I watched all of Dale's Marine videos. How much linear feet do you have and what is your above-ground seawall reveal and I can tell you roughly what it should cost. Are you on a bay or are you on a canal or oceanfront?

@@darinjuliesims354 The house i am looking at is in Slidell, Louisiana on an inlet to Lake Pontchartrain. When i say inlets i mean like a maneuverable canal (inlet) that leads out to the lake. I am trying to set up a time to meet with the real estate agent to see the property and condition of the bulkhead. Once i get an appointment i will take some pics and maybe email you (if you allow me) and get your input. Thanks for being so kind.

What if a storm push up sand and blocks your drain hole on the water side?
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 Год назад
So the drains have filters that are removable so you can clean. Now if a storm causes sand to pack above level of the drain then yes that would be an issue. If the drains are too high they don't allow the water to drain from behind the wall. Many people put their drains up high so all the hydrostatic pressure blow the drains is constant on the the wall and overtime kills the wall. Hope that helps
@sfrcorp
@sfrcorp 9 месяцев назад
How far apart are your drains? Also your temporary posts were how far apart before securing vinyl to whalers
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 9 месяцев назад
The drains are 10 feet apart. I have 5 of them. I did not put any drains on the side wall going to into the grade. Temp 4x4 were I think 10 also but refer back to my earlier videos for that.

Just the sheets? Are the sheets bolted to post???
@darinjuliesims354
@darinjuliesims354 Год назад
The sheets are 12' long. Each sheet is 6.5 feet in sand and 5.5' exposed. Yes each sheet is bolted to a 2x8 rough cut whaler. Hope that helps.
