Be very careful using the bar keepers friend. Even the soft cleanser is actually an abrasive, so you could be removing a layer of metal lacquer. For light colored bags: I recently restored a beige bag using a combination of k2r spot cleaner and bissell upholstery cleaner. The k2 r is excellent but leaves a powdery residue. It has to be washed repeatedly with the bissell cleaner. Final step is to use cotton rounds sprayed with alcohol. You will see the staining come right out. I just restored a beige bag which was 50% stained and am quite happy.
So practical and cheap!! I have asked a bag spa to clean my suede lady dior and they told me it would cost 200 euros lol Have you got any ideas how to clean suede? For the hardware I am going to use my husband's bike polish paste :)
What would you use to protect it? I have a beige once coming in with the same nylon type of material. It’s vintage and the sticky was already removed so I am wondering how I can protect it from stains.
I just bought this bag yesterday and found it to be slightly sticky, so I looked up a video and ended up here. Does using the woolite cleaner keep the stickiness away?
See my other comment. That stickiness is Years of dirt, dust etc. if you do the steps I outlined, you will remove the stickiness also. For a black bag, you can also rub in some mink oil and even a little black shoe polish to darken it and remove the stickiness too. Do not mink oil a light colored bag.
I'm curious to know what happens if you wash with soap, water since it is nylon. I washed my Prada nylon backpack, but maybe this dior is a different kind of nylon. Thanks for this great video. 👍
