Haha! 😄 I use those little bars of hotel soap to Zabrena. How I fell upon this was, I forgot my spray brush cleanser at home during one of my travels and saw these little bars of soap in my hotel bathroom and decided to give it a try. Well, it cleaned the CC cream from my Sigma F84 brush thoroughly and my brush smelled nice and clean. Here's an idea. How about you make an eyelash glue remover & cleanser for your company and call it Inky Fresh? Just an idea that popped into my head. 💡
We are so dry in Arizona, my eye brushes can be dry within an hour and big fluffy brushes within a couple of hours. One of the perks of being so dang hot and dry. ♥ Elle
You might want to stop doing that. Zote has A LOT bleach. It good for clothes but it destroys clothes them quickly if you wash your clothes with it every time.
I use this method that I learned from Michelle Phan a while back to clean my make -up brushes. Dish soap and olive oil the dish soap takes out the gross stuff and the olive oil conditions the brush hairs.
@@a.j.9098 Unless you leave them greasy. But you wash off the olive oil with the soap. It just helps condition the bristles and keeps them from drying out
I will try the soap/oil combo, especially for sponges. I use shampoo for my brushes. The cleaner I've been buying to clean my sponges has an oily feel. THANKS for a DIY method!
I just use Dawn dish liquid to wash my brushes. I throw all my sponges in a sock, tie it up, toss in the washer and let them air dry. Works like a charm. :)
Dr. Bronner's bar soaps are my favorite cleanser for my sponges, and EcoTools makes an awesome affordable brush shampoo that lathers up like CRAZY - one small bottle will last me an eternity! For quick in-between cleansing of synthetic brushes that I only lightly used, I liked the method that Samantha Ravndahl featured on her channel: a swish in 90% rubbing alcohol to dissolve the product/pigment, then another swish in 70% alcohol to sanitize, because the latter has a higher water content that will evaporate more slowly, allowing bacteria to be killed off.
I use the Bronner soap as well and a medium size bottle has lasted me forever too (I have the Eco tools but haven't used it yet). I'll have to look up Samantha's video on that. Thank you for sharing!
I use hotel soap, too! One of the Real Techniques eye brush sets used to come with a folding brush holder - I don’t know if it still does. But it’s been a lifesaver for me - I pop the brushes in upside down to dry and it’s just fantastic. Best of all, it’s folds flat so it’s great for travel.
I've been using Johnson's baby shampoo to clean mine for as far back as I can remember. And washed them in my hands the way you did. Then I was given one of those silicon washing brush scrubber thingys that fit over two fingers and has little knobbly bits on the flat side. Brilliant invention that 😊.
🙋♀️ YES, YES, YES🤗 hotel soaps are the BEST, so glad you mentioned it, I approve. Now with that said...I have to wash my brushes, been noticing little bumps on my face😞, I concluded that my brushes are dirty. When you put that turquoise mascara on your falsies I was sure you we're going to trash them🤷🏻♀️. Thank you so much for sharing. God Bless ya GORGEOUS🦋
Hi Zabrena! Great video! I found something a few months ago that has been my saving grace as far as cleaning my brushes. I got the Elf silicone brush cleaning mitt. It’s black with 3 different textured sections for cleaning large to small brushes...it cuts the time it takes for me to clean my brushes in half! I also got a collapsible drying rack that holds all my brushes upside down so they air dry. Looooove it! And love you, Z! ❤️😁
Thank you for posting this!!! I'm fairly new to makeup and have watched so many videos about how to wash these 3 items and nothing has worked well. Ty ty ty!!! Continued prayers for a healthy pregnancy and baby and mom 🤗💖
I loved your old video with the Dr Bronners soap! I’ve got a huge bottle to use up, but when it’s finished I’ll try the soap. I love how the brushes smell of rose when I use the Dr Bronners too x
Thank you for the product recommendation (again)! I recently started wearing false eyelashes, and I couldn't remember which product you used to clean them. Also, the rolled towels? That's a brilliant way of propping up the brushes, and I definitely plan to try that the next time I clean my brushes. Thank you! :)
🤯 Just washed my brushes for the first time using this method! So quick and easy and now I feel so accomplished. I used my little decorative soap that I had in a jar! Thanks Zabrena!!!
I use shaving soap to clean my brushes. My husband wet shaves and since his brush is silver tip badger and my makeup brushes are mostly goat or squirrel they are similar fibers. It also works well with my synthetic brushes too.
Makeup artist here..I also swirl brushes after washed in diluted hair conditioner and rinse, squeeze out water with towel, add a super thin coat of pure aloe Vera gel and air dry. I have several brushes that are twenty years old!! And they get washed each use! Way more than once a week as they’re used on clients and models 😉
a make-up show? YES. going to order your lashes and see how it goes and get the cleaner. I miss my lashes from when I was young. Now a granny and watching the "littles" with their looooong eyelashes, I miss them even more! love your videos.
hey, so when you were talking about the lash cleaner, you were talking about how essential oils are safe and what not and i just wanted to say that the FDA warns that essential oils can cause chemical burns or blisters when applied to skin. natural does not necessarily mean safe in fact, synthetic is usually better as its specifically formulated for that specific purpose (for example a perfume is formulated to be applied around your neck and wrists so it wont irritate those areas however if you spray it in your no-no area or into your eyes, it'll burn like crazy)
Huh, interesting. I have gotten this on my skin several times over the past year and never had any issues personally. And you are supposed to wait for the lashes to fully dry before putting them on your eyes, so I think that's safe. :)
You are so right about the bar of soap.. I started using it after watching one of you videos couple of years ago and it has been a game changer. Before I was making messy mixtures of oil and shampoo; this is just so much easier and quick too.
This was more helpful than I expected. Thanks. I am good about cleaning mine but I never thought about washing them all and then rinsing, and about rolling up a towel so they arent just laying flat.
ELF cosmetics has a rubber mat you can put over your hand that has ridges. I like it better than rubbing the brushes across the fingers. It also holds soap suds longer. It cut my cleaning time by a good bit.
I just had to tell you that I did the bar soap trick with my sponges and it worked beautifully! I use less water and less soap and it’s super fast! Thank you so very very much! I’m shook!
I use Dawn Dish soap to clean my sponges. You can also get w silicon scrubbers that are ment to use for makeup sponges and brushes. But if I have hotel soap. I also scrub my brushes the same as you do.😁
I like to dip my brushes and sponge into a bowl of makeup remover (any brand would do) just to dissolve left over foundation and concealer, then use soap to deep clean like you did in this video, my brushes and sponges has never been so squeaky clean, it's amazing
@@Zabrena You are humble too! ❤ Which is great amidst so much drama, ego, prejudice and tribulations in the world. You support womxn and womxn of colour. We need more people who just accept everybody as human first, as an individual after.
Dawn dish soap, the blue kind! It’s good for oil covered sea life, it’s a dream on brushes and lashes! For lashes, I have a warm water mini tub w dish soap mixed up, drop lashes and let them soak for 10min, give or take, pull out and rinse🤗💕
Sweetheart I do the same! I found that the soap bar cleanses much better than liquid soap. Actually i use the dove one. It keeps the tools clean and" hydrated ". Thanks dear for your nice ideas and amazing videos.😍
I do almost exactly the same thing with my brushes and sponges, except with a bar of Dr Bronner's baby soap. I have one of those silicone brush-cleaning mats that sticks to the sink, but I don't always use it. I also keep a small glass spray bottle of 70% alcohol with my makeup so I can sanitise things after I use them [such as my eyelash curlers].
I get Shea butter soap from dollar tree and use that. It is huge! Only costs a dollar and is an all natural soap. I keep in a dish by my sink and it encourages me to do quick cleaning of my eye brushes and sponge during the week. Although, I have never used it for my bigger brushes. Now I will! Thanks for this video!
The game changer for me, in regards to brush cleaning has been a brush cleaning pad and a brush “spinner.” The pad helps with sudsing and rinsing... and the spinner (which reminds me a bit of a battery operated/cordless mini drill handle) helps spin out most of the water, so the brushes will dry faster. I wash my brushes around 6 or 7pm and even the thickest one is dry within a few hours.
I use this same technique. I have in the past, purchased specific products for brush and blender cleaning and I’ve found that regular bar soap is just as if not more effective at removing all makeup residue (especially the blenders). I usually use Ivory bar soap. Thank you for sharing 💗
Such a good reminder to go wash my brushes - I paused and did the job, then came back. Great idea about hotel soaps. I use Zote soap and it cleans much better than every brush cleaner I have tried, plus it cost under $1.
I love The Master Brush Cleaner because it cuts through makeup residue but also conditions the bristles. Since it doesn’t disinfect I’ll spritz my brushes with 70% alcohol once they are dry. I also love brush guards for helping my brushes keep their shape. Sometimes I don’t allow the bristles to completely dry in the guard to avoid them becoming to compacted.
I clean my brushes with Zote soap as so many others have mentioned. I am very careful to make sure I get it all rinsed out. They are so clean and fresh the next morning. I always clean my sponge in the morning after I brush my teeth. That makes it a habit, then I have a clean, damp sponge to do my makeup every day. Love all your videos!
I wasn't into makeup as a teenager, but as 40+, I am discovering the fun. I wash my brushes, using my hand and fingers because that's what I have. I have seen those pads to rub your brushes against to clean them. but now, you use your fingers too. So its good enough for me.
I would like to request an updated nail care routine! I know it’s been a few years since the last one, so I’m curious which products you enjoy and any tips you have!
I use a bar of soap for a long time now and it's the best. It really cleans good and fast. But I need to wash more often.... I liked hanging out with you during this video 😀
Thanks for filming this, I’ve been patiently waiting! I use the clean and clear makeup removing face cleanser and never thought about bar soaps, but I can see how they’d work and I have quite a few from travel too! Thanks
Thank you so much for this video I know I have to get more consistent with my brush cleaning and my sponges I never could get clean. Thank you again. God Bless
i love using something called 'the masters brush cleaner'. it's for fine paint brushes and leaves your brushes soft and conditioned, never over-dry. it comes in a little [or big] tub. one little tub lasts a couple years.
Sun Soup quick note - use 70% alcohol to truly disinfect your brushes. I know it sounds counterintuitive but 99% alcohol evaporates too quickly to kill all bacteria that is why pro makeup artists are trained to use 70% instead. The slower evaporation allows the alcohol to work more effectively
Thanks again for one more informative and interesting video. I finally learned how to clean my brushes and especially my falsies, which I couldn't clean them right and ended up throwing many away. Thank you, again.
I use a brush cleaner from Equate at Walmart and a cleaning mat I found at dollar tree. I have a really dense foundation brush and the mat is the only way I've found to get dense brushes good and clean.
Hi there Gorgeous! I’m trying to find something to get the foundation out of my brushes. I usually wash them when I’m done getting ready but with everything going on the past week I haven’t had time. I can’t get the pigment out of the brushes 😭 I’ve tried my usual soap, dish soap, even a “brush shampoo”. Thank you for showing us how to clean lashes too. 😘😘 I love you so much Zabrena 🥰 Sending love and prayers to you and your beautiful family.
To clean my brushes I use dish washing liquid and one of those little ridged makeup brush scrubbers from wish. It works great, I always get the bristles looking good as new, and I like using dish washing liquid especially because it’s good for washing oils off (my face is very oily)
I clean my brushes with Baby Shampoo. LOL It is gentle and works great for me. I dry them the same way only have 4 Dollorama or any Dollar Store, dish towels. LOL I am also careful not to get water past the Feral. (?? on Spelling) Excellent video and I never saw anyone say how to clean lashes so this was awesome. I love your content and hope the babies are well. xo
@Angry Hippo Thank you. I typed in the word I associate with the proper spelling you just gave me. I own a feral cat. She was born from another and domesticated by me. She is the sweetest and most timid little girl. They always remain wild though. Anyhow I digress. Yes I totally meant Ferrule and I do hope I remember that. LOL Thank you so much.
My makeup teacher also told me that when you deep clean your brushes, you should also condition them. A simple hair conditioner is all you need. You use it basically the same way as your hair, a little bit on, make sure to get all the hairs and rinse. I have been doing it since she told me and it had done wonders for my brushes, definitely extending their life.
Great video!!! I'm doing the 'rolled towel' for drying. I never knew how to properly wash them. The eyelash cleaner is awesome.💃Thanx!! ⭕❌🌷⭕❌ 🌷⭕❌ Funny Story. 📖Back when we only had bar soaps. We would save the small shards left over, put them all together in one cut off leg of a panty hose, tie it up & you had a scrubby with soap. Oh, the things we did to save some💰
I use facial soap! I mean, makes sense right? My current favourite is the Face Shop rice water foaming cleanser. Really effective without drying out the fibers.
I do this all the time and found it’s the best for my sponges. Sometimes a bit too much for a few of my brushes but there are certain ones I just use shampoo for
On brush cleaning day I usually wash them right after I put on my makeup and they have 24 hours to dry before I need them again. I know not everybody can do this so I would say as soon as you can after you get home for the day. That way they are ready in the morning.
