Wow! That is incredibly generous of you Michael. I bought the original course. And it was very very well worth it.

Good stuff here! I would add: use a thicker pick for a thicker sound and a thinner pick for a thinner sound. Also, don't come in on the one for every part - spread your rhythms out and use call and response to get some interplay going!

Yes! The type of pick is often overlooked and huge! For instance I was layering some crunchy rhythm chords and for some reason kept hearing this “flange” effect that was seemingly connected to the attacks, even though the part was as dry as could be. I switched to a Gravity pick (from .88 green) and boom, flange effect gone.

Great tips and playing! These ideas are also great for playing with a 2nd guitarist. Avoiding the same type of part and octave range will make for a better overall mix 👍

As a primarily live guitarist, I found it interesting how quickly I muddled a mix in a recording by playing too much. As a studio musician, it's so much easier to segment your fills, and you might not have to switch back and forth as much. Are you ever going to do a video on becoming a roadie/gun-for-hire? I'd love to learn more about how you got into that!

I still need to make a video like that. Honestly I’ve struggle on how to approach it as everyone’s path can be so different
