This is how I always ask the hairdresser to cut my hair and I can never seem to get it, either you can't really see the layers or I end up with a mullet! I gave this a go this morning half asleep and it turned out amazing! Just what I wanted :)

I love this method! I found it a few years ago and it works so well. I don't like the shortest layer quite so short, so I only do the first 2 or 3 steps. This time I did do a face framing long bang, too, and just kind of blended it down at an angle into the shortest layer, and it actually turned out really well.

A beautiful cut! It looks relaxed and natural, and when you put rollers in your hair, it will be a lovely cascade of curls. So elegant and feminine. Great tutorial!

By far this is the best long hair tutorial do it yourself!! I watched several of them and even tried a few which only wound up botching my hair. For the third layer I would say at your temple instead of at your eyebrow. And I did get my license in 1995 and I am a professional that's the only thing I would change about the video you did a very good job, I'm impressed!!!

I like how you did multiple sections of ponytails and then cutting; most videos on RU-vid only do the one ponytail and then cut. I use to cut myself and last summer after quarantine went to hairdresser 💇‍♀️ he chopped all of it was half back long and fucked up everything. He just gave me and old style haircut and it was horrible 🤯😱 I’m still growing my hair out and am in search of a good DIY haircut that will give me the cut I want. Sleeping on a pillow w/ silk pillowcase case help prevent breakage and split ends. Cotton and fleece pillowcases, and flannel contributes to breakage and split ends. I found out the hard way, always waking up w/ tangled bed head. Silk pillowcase is a must, I made some from old silk dresses believe it or not. NO breakage, NO split ends. !!!! Yea !!!

Angel...just a suggestion ...from a stylist who is also on youtube....use the 2nd hair tie as a guide...ie cut it bluntly then afterward point cut...you pulling your hair away from your body to see to cut is affecting the cut itself

I came here right after trying brad mondo wolf cut. It worked a bit but I only tried 2 inches because I wanted to keep my length. This one worked out beautifully though☺️subtle layers but looks like I’ve actually had a hair cut, while keeping as much length as I wanted. I might be brave next time and cut 3 inch off the layers so they’re more obvious! Thanks☺️xox

I've been cutting my own hair for about six years. I've been doing something similar and will try your way next. Thanks for a great post

Looked great BEFORE the thinning shears and before you cut the length too much...

Then find your layer length and cut up into the hais. Next take out elastics,brush back. Then take out hair from upper hair length,brush forward all hair in front of the ear, 2 elastics,cut into all to he dry ends off chopping in with scissors . Toss back. 3 layer top of head brush up and forward,2 more elastics, cut into front choppy section. LAst and final section and pul forward anc cyt into sections.. should be done.

Either you’re “fibbing” to us that you’re NOT “professional,” or you’ve done this before many times to others & yourself. The reason I say this, is because of the WAY you CUT! Only “pros” know how to do THAT, and it turns out good. Most ppl take a pair of scissors, & cut sideways. One fell-swoop!😮 So, be honest. Just teach us, & let us know you’ve done this before.👍 Some of us are gonna try this, but not many will CUT like YOU! We’ve NOT been trained!😢

If you want to keep your ends from drying because I live in Florida my hair gets real dry use coconut oil pour it all over your hair leaving in for about an hour and wash it out and that'll keep your hair soft and your ends from drying
