My guess it counted need and im also guessing hurts wasnt at a really high rating but if it didnt count any prior picks then it likely forgot that they filled that need. Probably obvious oversight that just wasnt given much attention to
@@fawnnahh7438it’s legit just the player faces that get better, maybe they add tattoos to some guys. They’re allowed to put out mid so they keep doing it, the games don’t even look that good, aside from when their annual trailers come out and some people get hope
Even the graphics are debatable. But gameplay, features, replayability are all ass. Playbooks matter too much because that’s a 79 overall receiver is able to have all pro caliber years. I have to play my best receiver out the slot because God forbid a downfield pass doesn’t get intercepted by a 5’8 cb
If I simulate an entire season, everybody has insane stats The draft is terrible It feels like the only good players are at the top of the first round. Everybody else is pretty much ass.
Asking EA to fix, even the smallest detail in their Madden games looks to be imposible at this point. I think it's time we stop demanding shit from Electronic Arts since for the most part they are not willing or they don't care.
@@Whoyouwishyouwere or do what I do play old games enjoy the past games. I have more fun with nfl head coach 09 I even find myself yelling and laughing cussing at my TV at player dropping catch or my qb act like retard or just situation where alot of your better young player get injured on ir for 4 to 5 week in preseason and all I could say was are you fucking shitting me
Franchise mode needs an overhaul. They've been slapping band-aids on it for years and that's how we've ended up with the mess we have today. Sadly the only way I can see them overhauling Franchise mode is if they can find a way to monetize it.
08 had little buffs you could use in your franchise mode that weren't great but were fun for flavor. Could also go out and let people pay to use XFL/ USFL/ CFL names and logos. Wouldn't be free, but would probably make money long term. Could also make a team creator or expansion/contraction system cost money. Hell, even future drafts with player names could likely be spun in with the new NCAA title.and cost money. None of this should cost money, mind you, but they could monetize it if they wanted.
AI should be used for the Faces of draft prospects, so that they are actually photorealistic. It means you don’t have to pay anyone for any likeness because it’s all computer generated, and it makes a far more diverse looking team. They could also add stuff like hair and beards that change throughout a career. Young 21 year old guys with baby faces and a trendy haircut turn into grizzled old men with big beards
Something id love to see implemented into the draft is the feeling that youre in an actual war room. Id like to see the constant opinions of my staff. See a scout or coach get frustrated that we havent pulled the trigger to trade up for a player the wanted.
If they could do it right (unlikely) it would be really cool. Maybe it’s just an event for Round 1, and the rest of the draft is normal. There could be cutscenes and timed events for making a trade, calling a player, etc.
I love the point about the lack of streamlined content. When you put a player on the trade block and receive offers you have to check every team individually. Back out, go to their roster, hope you remembered the player, heck his stats/contract, exit out, go back to the trade block then do this with every offer. Why can’t I click on players in the trade offer screen. Shits the absolute worst. lol
I like some of your ideas. I like EAs nhl draft. Having players who are low/medium/high confidence in them being franchise/elite/top6forward/bottom6forward. When you draft a high elite player they don’t always pan out. And sometimes a player who is draft as a med top 6 forward can become an elite player. I think this is a great system. I do like how it is difficult to draft on madden. Drafting isn’t easy in real life. There are certainly a lot of problems though with the current draft.
not draft-related really but would love to have a "Rookie Tracker" section that shows all the rookies stats during the season, would be cool & easier to see what rookies you're competing with for ROY awards & just to have them & their stats all in one spot
Head Coach 09 has a great draft system as well. In season scouting with updates throughout the season from Adam Schefter on how the top prospects are performing while they're still in college, even up through the bowl games. Real time updates on how prospects are performing during their pro days and the combine. And scouting reports from Schefter when the top prospects get taken. All EA has to do is copy themselves.
I agree with you. Having AI for owners in franchise would be a much immersive experience for franchise... The NFL has so much media for every second so that needs to be a part of franchise mode. Every draft pic gets analyzed for 700000 hours. Media presentation needs to be added
Not sure if this is just a PS4 thing. But the part I HATE the most about franchise draft classes, is that the rookies come into the league wearing helmets and facemasks from like 2009. Nobody wears Riddell Revolutions anymore. Some defensive backs will even be wearing a helmet that a defensive tackle would wear. Come onnnnn EA.
something i think is being overlooked is that AI voices can allow for commentators to be able to say less common names, so that would be something cool we can consider
I specifically remember 2k all stars being able to say my last name. Every madden before wouldnt. Until 24. But it was very few and far in between and only as a HB Not as a qb, wr, or anyone on defense. But here recently I haven’t heard my name at all 😢
Yep, I think the combination of AI voices and AI generated text could theoretically lead to completely fresh in game commentary for every game, though I doubt Madden is in any hurry to innovate
Head Coach 09 is better and has a great draft system as well. In season scouting with updates throughout the season from Adam Schefter on how the top prospects are performing while they're still in college, even up through the bowl games. Real time updates on how prospects are performing during their pro days and the combine. And scouting reports when the top prospects get taken. All EA has to do is copy themselves.
Remember when EA said they'd never even looked at 2K5? How true that was I don't know, but they DO know how lauded and celebrated that game was and is so saying they've not even looked at it themselves is such a spiteful statement.
@@jdevlin1910Right… and I know what they said was a bold face lie…there’s plenty of people in development and marketing saw what 2K was doing…They didn’t just secure the licensing because of the price the game was, it was because the game itself gave more for your dollar…If the game was trash, they wouldn’t have done what they did with the licensing
I know that the NFL gave exclusive rights to EA for the football simulation game, but I feel like the NFL would also really benefit if it happened to have an OOTP equivalent, kinda like how the MLB has Out of the Park Baseball AND MLB The Show. It doesn't even need to be as advanced in graphics as Madden is _supposed_ to be. Have it be just a management simulator while EA's can be more like the "experience" of "playing" on an NFL team or even coaching one with the option of doing management stuff in things like Franchise mode
right? we have Football Manager for soccer, OOTP for MLB, Franchise Hockey for the NHL, Pro Basketball Manager for not-NBA, F1 Manager/Motorsport Manager for racing, Tennis Manager for tennis, pro cycling manager for fucking Cycling and for football? Front Office looks dated af, Head Coach 09 is decades old, Pro Strategy is okay but idk. Football Coach might be the best, i think, but it's a college game. Its obvius there's a market for this why not capitalize on it? ffs
I have a feeling this one of those easier said then done ideas. They could have a franchise mode app and you can download the draft class on your tablet so you can have the prospects there in front of you without leaving the screen.
with the roger goodell things that does kinda seem like he probably wouldn’t do that, but honestly even if they just had a player model of a commissioner and a voice would still be such an improvement
11:06 two things about this, first off shout out to the Madden Modding Community for doing this with Start Today, Madden on PC is the way to go as it is right now. Another thing, EA will never do this because then there would be literally zero reason to buy the next Madden (assuming they keep releasing $70 roster updates).
Another issue is when you hire a coordinator as your new head coach they dont start with a 0-0 record they are given the record their previous team(s) had with them as coordinator kills the immersion
There’s also the issue of when you get into later years, even as soon as 2027/28 they are all the generic player with the same helmet, same build (face, muscle mass on arms, and accessories) and they will all end up wearing 22 or 11 on the field. It gets very annoying.
A note on having Goodell announce the picks. They dont NEED to record him saying everyone's names. Now that generative AI is a thing, you can have him record a script that has a bunch of different sounds and syllables in natural words and then use that data to AI generate all of the player names for the script. It would take 20 minutes of recording and even a free ai could do it. You could do the same thing with the commentators. Sure, have them live record all the traditional importantly stuff, but then give them that same script and so now you can add endless new phrases and responses so its not the same 5 things repeated every time you get a game-sealing pick or an overtime winning field goal. This also would mean instead of only having one draft class read out by Goodell, its EVERY draft class you ever have in the game. No one loses out on employment, the players get way more variety and content, and it doesnt cost EA ridiculous sums of money to produce
Just tested it with the Bears scenario. Here's the final response from GPT: In that scenario, I'd prioritize the generational talent at quarterback. A top-tier quarterback can significantly impact the success of a team in American football, as they're often the leaders on and off the field. While a standout wide receiver can be incredibly valuable, a franchise quarterback has the potential to shape the team's future for years to come.
If I’m not mistaken, nba live 2000 or 2001 they allowed you to draft from “March madness”. The top 3 picks would have an animation walking up to the podium. You can fact check!
It's crazy how madden 10 had cpu trades, offers, kept track of what year they were drafted, what number they were drafted, and what awards they go on to win.
Also when it changes from the 3rd round to the 4th it should switch to day time because the draft on the third day is during the day and not at night time, just another aspect that could help with being more immersed into the draft feel
i don’t think they would invest this much into it, not just because it’s EA, but also because they don’t have the licensing for all of the draft prospects, every “real” draft class is made by players and not EA
I don't think it's too much of a reach to have at least some sort of animation for the first 3 - 10 picks, since those are usually the most hyped up ones. MLB The Show has an animation that plays for they first 3 picks picks that throws whatever player was picked into their new team's jersey and gives them a celebration animation with some music. As for Goodell doing some voice over work, he could literally just record the line " With the NUMBER Pick in the YEAR Draft, the TEAM selects..." and just stitch together the separately recorded Number, Year and Team. He'd only have to really do Round 1 to give us some semblance of pageantry, and only would have to record Numbers and Teams once unless a team changed its name. He'd have to add one year each year, but they could probably just say "hey, we're going to record 40 years so we don't have to bring you in every year just to do this again." The only thing you'd have to get Goodell and the commentary team in to tedious record is names every year. And I don't know
That Cox story reminds of people creating realistic draft classes for NBA 2K a while back and not being able to properly write Kuminga, because funny first three letters. For 2K to add him the next year as official player in the normal spelling. While Madden should have the easiest task for surnames of all these sports game. Just take the x most common US surnames + add whatever other names are/were in the NFL + whatever are the x most popular boys names in the US.
Another thing I hate about the draft is the CPU... for whatever reason will... alot of times... take a player you need or wanted right before your pick even if they don't need him. Perfect example... I'm the Commanders and the Cardinals pick before me. I really need a middle linebacker and there happens to be one around I pick. The Cardinals signed not one, not two but three MLB in FA to 5+ mil a year multi-year contracts and they STILL took the MLB I wanted right before I picked. It's super annoying.
Fun fact: you can choose which teams draft which players, you just have to make sure you’re the user for every team. Go to the league options and press new character. That’s how I was able to relocate all of the teams. There should be a way easier way to do it though. EA glazes their money more than their ideas.
10:20 you CAN change where players can be drafted, it’s NOT 100% they’ll still be drafted there but you can do so. When you’re viewing prospects before the draft, you can Click L3(Edit Player) and in that menu, you can see on the left side it shows where Players will be drafted, and it can be re ordered. That’s how the people who create these drafts classes set it so players projected to go High in IRL are drafted high in madden!
at least the most consistent thing between madden 24 and 2k5 is the terrible draft logic. the bears will take 2 QBs with their first round picks, 2k5 has a love for running backs in the first round
Look at the draft process in madden 13. Its so perfect. Rookies had generated real faces photos and had backstories and the draft was unpredictable and teams did their own research
Great points. I wish EA actually cared, but they don't. Too many people play and pay online, so they will never change franchise. Also, the draft isn't bad. I don't think Nabers will drop out of the top 10, Dallas NEED OL help, and Q.Mitchell will be a top 15-20 pick. I think Fiske tap isn't good overall. Good athlete, but it will be a day 2 pick.
14:28 bro I 100% agree the cpu chooses the most awful helmets and some of them won’t even wear an Oakley visor even though when nfl players were visor in games they have to be Oakley because Oakley has a deal with the nfl
Once again I love the amount of detail explanation you try to put in your complaints and even with videos like these on how they can be fixed. It’s why I’m still subbed. Keep it up as always.
This is an easy fix. Put everything that made franchise great in previous maddens back into the game then add on to it. Right now franchise mode is a joke.
I would like to add my own feature. If your draft class is imported from the college football game, it would show a college highlight reel from who you drafted
I really like the draft history and I feel like to add on to that they should have top performances like I wasn't a football fan before the 11 or 12 season but saw that Tom Brady throw 50 touchdowns and some top notch stats and you should be able to see stats for the players I don't know if you mentioned this soft drink but if you didn't I think it could be a nice idea and you can't customize a contract for rookies I feel like that should be a another great idea
Let's stop pretending here. Ea won't improve the draft. It's not in ultimate team. So it will be stripped of features if anything. It's garbage I'm never buying an ea game again
Facts lmao. Maybe if a literal law is passed for them to end their licensing n actually have competition again . Otherwise not gonna happen ever. Old maddens are leaps ahead of current oned
@friedbacon7611 it's absolutely an illegal monopoly. That's why I hate these how to fix madden videos. The only way to fix madden is by killing it. Buying 2k
you shouldve showed b-roll of nba 2k11's draft, it literally had the commissioner on the podium like u said, & in mycareer the player would wear the team's hat like irl. ik the newera-NFL partnership would love tht in madden
after going back to the retro maddens on the xbox,ps2 and, ps3 emulators and playing those for few months now I really can't go back to playing this half cooked garbage EA puts out these days.
I dont think a small animation with the new player in uniform on the stage would be too troublesome. You'd only have to do it for maybe the first 3-10 Draft picks. Just zoom into the stage, have it lift to reveal a silhouette walking forward and the player either fully in uniform or with a #1 jersey and cap on. Give them some small celebration animation and hype music to make it feel as big as its supposed to be. As for Godell voicing, he could just get a good take of "With the NUMBER Pick of the YEAR Draft, the CITY TEAM selects..." and then seperately record the Numbers, Years, and Team names. Maybe they outdo themselves and decide to actually record some college names as well since they're dropping that NCAA game.
as long as Mel Kiper isn't in Madden I'd like a lot of changes to the draft presentation and obviously they need lots of changes beyond just how the draft engine itself operates which is so hard to get to do something realistic
The fact that Madden still has less features today when compared to 15 years ago says a lot. And still less than their competition from 20 years. What a tragedy. All that funding potential to just copy and paste with a minor update to a system each year. For example, remember when we could create teams? How much do you want to bet that they dont even properly have it set up to transfer college players over once the NCAA franchise relaunches?
I don't have anything to add because I have a lot of complaints and been writing about this stuff for a while. Great job - you had some ideas even I didn't think of 👏🏻👏🏻
Surprised you didn’t touch on the hidden vs normal problem… no real fog of war for rookies. I hate knowing instantly whether my pick was a “bust” just cuz they weren’t hidden.
The problem with tattoos is similar to 2k where they just aren't realistic tattoos. Like they won't look natural because they aren't scanned in, but rather just placed randomly.
Ballsack Mcgee 😂😂😂 I would change the stat's portion of drafting. They dont give you enough detail about the guys stats your about to draft, which is very irritating. They only show you his top 5 stats with the highest values.
I miss when Trey Wingo did draft recaps for spotlight prospects who had interesting backstories where he’d read off some info about them. That along with a revamped news section would give these created players personalities and commitment to their careers.
