Haha! Now I understand why there has been a recent burst of downloads for Toolbar Creator! I'm glad you find it useful, and thanks for linking to it! (I'm the guy who made it.)
@@TabletPro Hey Justice, I'd be happy to talk to you. I guess I'm a bit surprised by what you write here and what you wrote in your previous post on this RU-vidr's channel... In these posts, you seem to suggest that you just learned about Toolbar Creator (yes, capitalized), but I'm pretty sure you've known about it for a long time... I mean, you're active on many artists/tablet PC forums and whenever Tablet Pro comes up, Toolbar Creator is not far behind. Or the other way around. And I know you've replied to several posts in these discussions where both were mentioned. To be clear, I'm ok with all of it, I'm just surprised by the tone of your replies here where you seem to suggest that you just learned about Toolbar Creator. It came before Clint's RadialMenu (and heavily influenced it, although as you know because you've also discussed with him, that guy's a genius, and he took things much farther than I ever could or ever would have wanted for Toolbar Creator), was extensively discussed by Rick on SurfaceProArtist, and if I remember correctly you and I have crossed paths a few times both on the TPCR and AutoHotkey forums. In any case, I'd be happy to chat. Let me know what you think.
Fun fact, the lo-fi girl is actually Shizuku from Whisper of the Heart (Studio Ghibli film), the channel used the animation from the film and then ran into legal issues and had to re-create the lo-fi girl (study girl), but you'll still see so much similarity between the two :)
Heya! I’m a MediBang paint user and it’s great for the surface. You can even make the toolbar/buttons bigger in the settings if you switch from computer to tablet lol. It works great for the surface too!
For me I really just need a new laptop that is small and lightweight enough to carry for hours around uni. But the drawing capabilities are a bonus I am very excited for.
@@xChillOutHDx I got a surface pro for video editing and it's honestly not that bad. the processor is more than capable. only if you opt for the 8GB/16GB ram variant of the surface but honestly it's a great device for the task.
This is a bit late but maybe look at the Surface Go. It's amazing but smaller than the pro so very easy to carry around and a good price! I bought it for uni and it was perfect for drawing on and doing all my uni work. Hope this helps
I love the surface pro for notes and work, being able to draw with sensitivity was a huge plus though because I could never really get into digital art since I was basically drawing in one place and seeing it in another. But with this I can effectively draw like I do on paper and stop having to lug around a heavy sketchbook/ cursing myself for not bringing it that day... and even reduce the number of notebooks I carry
I have Surface Pro 4 and love it. In addition to PS and those you mentioned, I also have MediBang Paint, Paintstorm, Rebelle, Art Rage, Painter, but the one I use the most on this device is Clip Studio Paint.
Those tips on programs where stellar! I just bought the surface pro and realized I don't know how to streamline my workflow at all yet; having these tips goes miles. Thanks Posh!
Just found you on my recommendations now and I hope I’m not too late. You should give the Leonardo app a try. I have a surface too and I find Leonardo makes it really fun and simple to use on the surface!
This was a perfect surface pro 6 review for digital art. You really have talent for reviewing products and editing! Also it convinced me to buy the 6 instead of the 7 to save money ☺️.
@@darellteague3845 I got it today and really it's great. Good price also. I didn't think I would come back to this video but knowing about apps and creator tool is a great asset also.
@@darellteague3845 it works great. Just there was some issue with the cracked CS6 version I had. The user interface was really small and unusable need to change some settings. But I'm not sure about other versions of adobe. Still trying out illustrators.
That toolbar shortcuts you did is kinda genius, that surprise me. I mean I'm used to have another of my arm on the wireless keyboard to click shortcuts😮
I absolutely got vibes of Lo-Fi Beats Girl from the drawing 😃 Thanks for pointing me towards Toolbar, I'd been looking for something like that when my keyboard is folded away
hoooo boy, Sai 1.2.x really dropped the ball in this. My strokes degenerate into mspaint default brush. But Sai 2.0 beta's pen pressure works fine on the Surface. (I wonder what was upgraded in that version?). The hand detection and inability to pan and zoom tho....argh, painful. That Toolbar app is so cool, I use this program called Telepad which turns my phone into a hotkey device and keyboard. Gonna try that app, thank you
I'm happy I found this video I just recently purchased a surface pro 7 and I'm trying to make my art career take off and like a total pleb didnt even think of which program I was going to use. So this gave me a bunch of awsome programs to pic and use so when i finally get my hands on it i know exactly what to get thanks a bunch ciao
looking into getting a Surface Pro while it's on sale so I can access digital books and do commissions while in college, thank you for the video!!! I needed an actual in depth look into the drawing process and I finally found your video
i live in india and my dad used to go abroad for business meetings and on my first bday he missed it and as a present bought me the surface tablet i was so happy and i draw with it till today
Love your art. Really surprised to see you don't have more subs. Thanks for the video, love your realness. And yes I was thinking the same thing about the chill beats girl!
i also draw on a surface pro laptop, but i bought a refurbished surface pro 3 on amazon for about $400 (came with keyboard). With the pen and tax it jumped to $500. I really enjoy it so far! it runs clip studio paint like a champ! my only complaints about it is that there's a scuff on one edge of my laptop and the keyboard looks worn out. the top right corner of it also gets pretty warm after a while, which makes drawing uncomfortable after a while, and unfortunately it's an issue with some of the older surface pros (not sure about the more recent models).
im glad I came across this video. I really need a new laptop for uni notes and word and essay research but I also wanted a computer to draw on not often I guess. I saw another video where someone said the surface was bad for drawing? idk why but as a beginner I'm assuming it will work just fine..also considering that I might get a drawing board anyways. I have a xpen deco 03 board but the usb receiver broke 😔 I tried to fix it lol I'll test it out later and if not I mean I can get a new one..I WAS HIGHLY considering a ipad to draw but I mean I really need a multi window device with full word 😭 also most of my art is like oil painted style so I dont really need PRECISION line art and if I do I'll just use my xpen board
@@mariarzyt_3D ah thank youu yea I was definitely planning on getting a paper like screen protector for comfort. but yea definitely just as a hobby and I prefer xpen tablets to draw. thank you for your feedback! I mostly just need a lightweight onenote compatible device for uni notes
I run PaintTool SAI perfectly on my Surface Pro 2 with the pressure sensitivity being suuuper nice and smooth. I downloaded the right drivers and then also turned off touch and adjusted settings in windows ink and settings within Sai itself and bought a better pen with two buttons to undo easily. I even got a screen protector that makes it feel like drawing on paper ♥ I haven't used my surface pro 2 in a good while since getting my Huion Kamvas 16 Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ . I don't need a new tablet since the SP2 works so well still but I'm going on a trip soon and I want something with a better battery life. I've had it for years now so the battery has diminished cause electronics do that over time unfortunately.
The use of pressure does work in paint tool sai, at first it did not work for me too but I fixed it, even the myPaint program that seemed to have no solution, I managed to get the surface pro pen pressure to work in all the programs installing wintab , to install it you have to be careful, close all kinds of programs and when you complete the installation, restart the computer, also some programs must be configured in the settings what type of pressure you want to use, wintab or other type, there it shows you the options, each change requires reopening this program, trying the options works correctly for you.
im getting a microsoft surface pro 4 soon and im so excited to start doing digital art and this video was so amazing and helped me a lot, your art is awesome and i cant wait to get started on drawing digitally soon!
I use Leonardo, Rebelle 3, and Rough Animator. They work really great on an old Surface Pro 2, so they should work on the 6. I really want to upgrade to the pro 5 or 6 though. I can't stand the 16:9 aspect ratio on the 2.
I’ve been searching for a review of rebelle 3 on surface pro 2., i never seen one, i tried rebelle 3 on surface pro 3 same specs as the surface pro 2 i5 8gb version and the processing is very slow I wonder how it’s work on your surface pro 2?
Almost three months ago, I bought a refurbished Surface Pro 4 from eBay for about less than $300. I also bought a few accessories to go with it: Samsung EVO Select 512GB microSDXC card for extra storage, Wacom Bamboo Ink Plus smart stylus pen, a multi-angle carrying case for my Surface Pro 4; and a replacement charging adapter, since the charging adapter that came with my Surface Pro 4 had stopped working. The Surface Pro 4 that I ordered is a Core m3 model, with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD, the latter which is why a microSDXC card is essentially important for extra storage space. After I install my microSD card, I plan to reserve the 128GB SSD for my installed apps, and my microSD card for my documents, downloads, music, pictures, and videos. And speaking of drawing apps, my two go-to drawing apps are GIMP and Krita, which both work quite well on my Surface Pro 4. Also, about my Surface Pro 4, I bought it to replace my Lenovo IdeaCentre B320 all-in-one desktop, which died after almost a decade of good use.
The super complex crazy "30 minute sketches" I see people do on insta make me want to quit art. So I try to not look at them too often lmao I dont want to believe they happen that fast.
Oh! How to screen record on Microsoft Surface is really easy! Press the Windows button (Win) then press the (G) key, there should be a bunch of things on your screen but on the left hand side you’ll see 3 square things, on the very top one that’s called “Capture” press the button with a small circle in the middle to record! And do the same process to stop the recording! Also, you need to be in a app in order to do it, you can be on the normal home screen for some reason, lol! I hope this helped :D
I love ur artstyle and I am just starting my drawings on my servace pro thanks for the review it helped and I totally ment what u ment by the Lofi chill beats girl lol
Grace, this was a really helpful video and I enjoyed seeing how you made the tech really work for you. Would you be interested in doing a video on how you set up the Toolbar Creator? I downloaded it but had some issues setting it up. There doesn't seem to be many vids on how to do that. Also, I love to see a video on you edit in and draw the title screen into your videos. I'd be very interested in watching tutorials about those two topics by you. I think you'd do a good job explaining them!
You can see a short tutorial on Toolbar Creator here: www.surfaceproartist.com/blog/2014/10/12/toolbar-creator-makes-custom-artdocks-easy By the way, I'm the guy who created it and I'd be happy to help you set it up!
oh my thankyou SO MUCH for this video it helps me seriously hahaha i wanted to try digital art for so long now i know surface pro is my choices hahaha ((cuz i wanted a tablet with great laptop experiences ;)
Damn, that Toolbar Creator app is such a great idea! I already thought about unplugging my computer keyboard to have access to shortcuts, but would look weird if you would have a computer keyboard plugged into a tablet chilling and drawing outside. 😂
OH MY! Thanks for your advice! I was looking for a screen recorder for so long and couldn't find a good one (the toolbaar is a great hint too. Enjoyed the video :)
omg your artwork is amazing and i would find watching someone outline interesting lol - im not really familiar with the concept of outlining to be honest, because ive always been a sketchy amateur drawer omg i love your personality and how you explain things in a way that's super easily understandable for newbies who wanna get into digital painting
HIIII thank you so much for posting, I wanna make digital art but i dont want to buy an ipad just for the pen adn procreate feature yk. Can u please do a video on how to digital art on photoshop and use the different features like layering
Hey there! I'm sorry if someone said this before but I didnt see any comments when I skimmed through so-- I'm pretty sure theres some drivers you can download so Sai can work! I remember having the same problem back in the day on my gen 1 surface pro. Love your art love the video!!
I'm not 100% sure but I personally use Corel Painter to do my coloring with. I should mention, I don't have an SP but I do use my Samsung 7spin with my fingers and mouse (if I need to fill in small spaces.)... Corel painter and Clip Studio are 2 of the better software to use. I have PS but really only use that when i do logo designs or editing for my music label. On the occasions I draw my mascot I do trace with PS and pen tool then fill in and color in Corel Painter. CP is specifically made for artists in mind. The brushes are amazing and give you nearly the same results as if you were doing traditional.
Paint tool sai 2 works on the surface! It doesn't have the touch screen capabilities but if you're a sai fan then maybe that'll make you feel better about surfaces lol
I just got the Pro 7. The drawing program “Concepts” is what I use. If you pay for it, it’s awesome. It also has a color wheel built with Copic color pallet. Lol No. That’s not what vicarious means.
If you use any drawing apps on the Surface Pro 7 can you help me? whenever I tried to draw with the stylus pen it only rotate or zoom in/out the canvas and and I'm hopeless
Kamaboko Gonpachiro Since I got the Surface, I started using two programs you can get from the Windows Store. The first one is called Concepts. It’s free to download if you want to try it out on the basic level. I however, really liked how it operated so I paid to unlock all the features. I didn’t get all the texture brushes so I think I ended up paying around 30 or 35 bucks for what I wanted. It’s very responsive to the pen and you can export your drawings to manipulate in other programs. The other program I’ve been using is the Wacom Bamboo app. Can’t remember exactly what it’s called, but again it was free to try out the basics. I use this one for writing and other note-taking. It also has responsive pen features. As far as pricing goes, I’m not sure how it happens, but I unlocked it for free some how by trying it out for the sample period. At that point I decided on Concepts but when I said “No” to Bamboo, they just gave it all to me for free. I wasn’t paying attention to all the details of how it happened but it did. 🤷🏼♂️ Give them a try. You may be surprised.
Thank you! Very helpful. PLEASE make a video on the Toolbar and how to set this up. Subscribing because I'm hopeful this will happen from what I saw in the comment thread...
