Hello beautiful people!
Is everyone having a wonderful day as much as I am? It's only 9:40 in the morning currently on the Cali coast, and I'm feeling pretty good. I wish I could go out to the beach right now but I've got work in a couple of hours. I filmed this video because I know how much people want to dye their hair at home. The damage can be unreal but I've got a way that does it with VERY LITTLE damage! Enjoy and let me know in the comments what you think!!

I'm a hairdresser and have also been doing my own hair for years. I have colored my hair this color after having bright red hair and bleaching it. Basically the same thing she did here. My hair turned out to be about the same color. So YES it is very possible. You just have to know what you're doing. That simple.

Yes, thank you! I'm definitely no hairdresser, but I've been doing my own hair for years. I know what works for it and what doesn't. Also, there's much technical things I can get into like lighting, white balance of a camera, temperature of lights, brightness of a computer screen, etc., that can skew a person's perspective. I'm not trying to be rude I promise! Just passing on some knowledge (I'm in cosmetology school) but try not to put your hair up in a tight bun or really up in a bun at ALL when its wet!!! Especially if you're using a hair elastic / ponytail holder. Your hair is much more elastic when it's wet and it's more prone to breaking so when it's tied up in a bun like that, you run the risk of having more breakage. I would recommend putting it in a plastic bag or a shower cap while you're coloring it or putting deep conditioner on it! (Btw I love the color, I had a similar one over the summer and I'm dying to go back blue ugh)

I did use a plastic bag but my hair is so long and thick that it weights down the bag and it falls off unless I use an elastic to hold my hair in place. But for next time, I'll use hair clips! Am I the only one that knows that blue + red doesn't turn into black or deep blue like her hair? she didn't dye her hair that way, is impossible. And the problem is that many people would try this method, which won't make your hair blue like her, because is obvious that she went to a hairdresser after doing a mess on her hair, and then she took the photograps and videos.

+Julene Rumbo Hey girl! I can guarantee that I did not go to a hairdresser after apparently "doing a mess on [my] hair." But you may believe what you like. I can see why you would think I did, and I really admire that you don't take heed into everything you see online, as oppose to some who believe everything they see or read online. I only have my word, and people can take it or not, to each their own. I know my own hair well, and I know what works for it and what doesn't. I also know that I would rather spend my money on other things than going to a professional colorist. Regardless, thank you so much for at least checking out my video and for commenting. Maybe next time I do a hair video, I can do a more grandiose reveal to make it more obvious that I didn't go to a hair salon? But yea... Thanks again, and have a great day! :)

+lost in my head X wouldn't it become more blue rather than the teal color it is now? As someone with Asian hair who tried to color her hair that color, I can tell you that my hair was lighter and not as red as hers and because of the green it turned out like really blue.

+ChibiSugar I have bleached my hair so many times, once i had to bleach a black hair, i needed 3 rounds of bleach and it become yellow with some Orange parts, the blue dye will never be strong enough to cover that orange and yellow, and it turned green, an horrible green, so imagina what would happen with reddish hair

I wanted to just write a little from my experience and I hope you won't mind!(: I've dyed over other colors before and it turned into a disaster when I went in for another color after, the dye wouldn't take and my hair was like 10 different colors. I ended up just waiting about a month slowly doing different things to get the color out! my favorite thing to lighten the color without bleach is powdered vitamin C mixed with dandruff shampoo and conditioner, it actually helped my latest color come back out and now my hair is back to almost blonde (i was regency purple) ! I did this treatment 3 times and will be beaching again soon, but it helps for healthier hair beforehand! Now that i've said that, this video is great and you do an awesome job with your hair! (coming from another non professional who loves dyeing their hair) haha have a good day and thanks again for this video!

It depends on the color of your natural hair! Can't be any darker than a light brown or else it'll look muddy & you'll have to bleach it!

+Donuts R Bae Yea, same. I get it haha. But I diluted the bleach with conditioner which helped lessen the damage. Plus I deep conditioned afterwards for several hours to continue the lessen the blow of bleach. When my hair was completed, BOOM, my hair was not fried, dry, and feeling yucky. I just did Sparks Electric blue over. Sparks Purple passion, my hair is an extremely intense blue with some deeper dimensional purple/blue high and low lights. I have never had my hair professionally colored, I have had similar results. I never thought of putting conditioner in the bleach. Smart girl, thanks for the tip. Btw, you are rockin' that teal.

You did a really great job for no Pro training! I graduated from cosmetology school and still psyche myself out when doing my own hair with anything like bleach. The only suggestion I have is please don't twist your hair up with bleach in it! I was so worried for your hair. (It can cause bad breakage) instead get a shower cap and stuff your hair in it, that will also help keep the heat in for the bleach to do its thing, just don't forget to check it every 15 minutes.

MommyhoodMoments I say screw it and do it haha. if you end up hating it, Manic Panic can be removed with head and shoulders shampoo. Blues are easier to remove than reds in my opinion

I thought you wernt supposed to put conditioner in the bleach, it puts a barrier on the follicle making it very splotchy and doesn't lift a lot. I use shampoo instead and then deep condition after. I noticed little to no damage and it lifts a lot. but I'm not a pro so I wouldn't know

+Shaniah Cronan You're very much right, but that's the idea behind adding conditioner to the bleach: it dilutes the power of the product. Adding conditioner makes the chemicals less harsh on your hair. Yes, it doesn't lift as much as bleach without conditioner, but if you need to lighten your hair at home, adding conditioner is a "safer" way of bleaching your hair without the risk of serious damage.

You should try saturating get your hair w coconut oil the night before and sleep with it then bleach your hair. The oil helps protect against damage but doesn't leave your hair looking splotchy. Bleach is less damaging on dirty(oily) hair.

Just FYI bleach stops developing after 30 minutes their's no point in keeping it on longer it's just going to cause more damage to your hair, if it's still not at the desired lightness deep condition and bleach again I would wait at least one week to give your hair a little time to recover a bit.

Try vitamin c powder with shampoo, scrub for yen minutes then wash and condition, or just wash of going to dye a color. gets the leftover color out with no damage!

I learned something new a while ago. I guess putting bleach over previously dyed hair drives the hair dye further in, and pravana has a lightener that would take the color out more, but I still have yet to try lol

color remover doesn't damage your hair but it only works on oxidizing colors not direct dyes

IM SO HAPPY you made this video! Because this one of the colour that I want in my hair ! right now I have pinkish/peach hair because my vibrant pink that I had washed out but I'm trying to wash the colour out to do more colour on top without bleaching it again. So to see how the turquoise turned out on yellow /orangy hair because of the red makes me so happy :D That's exactly the colour that I want :) (tho right now I'm going to have purple hair, after I want that !!! :D)

+Fashionista SG Ahhh! YES! Go teal! It's so much fun -- it fades fast, but if you keep up with the maintinence the teal should last for a few weeks! :) As long as the dye is darker than your hair now, it should stick. But do know that because your hair is yellow / orangy, once the blue starts fading it'll fade into a green color. Some people don't like it, but personally I do haha :) Thanks and good luck!!

Hair dye stops dyeing your hair after about 50-60 minutes since your hair follicle can only hold so much dye so there is virtually no point in leaving it in for more then an hour . Just a tip i love the color by the way

Thanks for checking out my video!! And ah yes, I've heard about that tidbit! :) The reason why I leave Manic Panic on my hair longer, is because it won't turn out as vibrant / it will fade away faster. If I used a dye where I mix peroxide in it, then yes, I only leave it in my hair for a maximum of 50 mins. Regardless, thanks so much for the tip!

Like everyone has said, your hair looks amazing! BUT, how long does it last? You were wearing a white blouse, do your clothes get stained when wearing light colored tops? Pillow cases ruined? Can you cover Maintenance after color? What to expect post coloring, like skin stain removal, etc. We all need more info. :)

the top of your hair lightens faster than your tips cuz of your scalp's heat. I commented that on another video about bleaching hair and someone said I was wrong. But for what I heard here I wasn't.

You're completely right :) I dyed my hair blonde, the dye came with bleach and everything and my brother dyed it for me, told him to start from the bottom and he started on the top:/ SO the top of my hair is nearly white while the rest of it is a yellow/blonde colour... not good and thinking I wanted to dye it blue now I have no idea if it will work so well ;o

+Lucy Gilbert Yes but I think the girl in the video uses the conditioner for it to not be as harsh the shampoo will just make your hair dry and damaged because it's for getting the oils out of your hair.

+Lucy Gilbert The conditioner is for making your hair soft, and it's suposed to help from damaging your hair more. (like I said in the other comment)
