I'm curious about your camera settings for filming. Since you downscale to 1080p for export and leave off Smart HDR I assume you shoot in 4k? If you downscale to 1080p why no directly film in 1080p from the start? And do you shoot 60FPS or 24 for a more cinematic feeling?

I shoot 4k, for two reasons. I want the best possible footage for future proofing and just for the sake of it - and I think downscaled 4k is still sharper than native 1080p, especially if you add stuff like digital zooms. Only time I shoot 60fps if it's a really bright day and I want slow motion. At night, it's usually not worth the tradeoff in quality when shooting on a phone.

Love your videos, and this tutorial was great as well! One question: Do you shoot in ProRes on the iPhone? Or just standard 4K, 30 fps? :)

Standard, just for space management purposes. I shot ProRes for the first 2 months that I got the 13 pro max and my storage was full immediately..

I'm not totally sure which one is optimal in this regard, but I've been able to get away with shooting the default HDR so I've thought "don't fix it if it ain't broke", more important is exporting non-hdr. Obviously if you want to post straight out of camera then sdr makes the most sense.

I have iphone 14 pro but all my videos look awful when it comes to recording at night i have it set to 48mp but I have never tried to record anything on cinematic mode maybe it would be better this way. Also I have sony a6600 Apsc camera with 16mm f1.4 lens but its for cropped frame cameras and i was wondering weather its even worth trying to use it on my a7 iv with cropped mode or am i not going to get any better results as that's the widest lens i own and its for cropped frame. Also thank you for everything you do.
