You can press 'u' on your keyboard to separate the video and audios tracks, then you can just delete the audio track by itself, instead of muting it because layers do add up and get annoying to work with ^^'
This is a great tutorial on Sony Vegas editing. I just started my channel and I was totally lost on the editing part of it. I watched other tutorials and they moved way to fast to follow. I did learn a couple of things from some of the other tutorials but yours runs at a pace that can be easily followed. Anyone that's just starting out with video editing just needs to start playing with it. Don't get overwhelmed with it, learn the undo button, just in case you made a boo boo. In Sony Vegas there are many paths to certain operations. Once you start to get familiar with it, it gets a lot easier, and quicker. Watch some of the other tutorials too, there's great info in them to, but this one is great for beginners...I'm a beginner.

I honestly did the same. I used to edit with Windows Movie Maker Live and I was looking up videos on how other people edit their videos with Windows Movie Maker and somehow I came across this and I am so grateful that I found this video.
In part two I would like to know how you put those fancy text with borders around it. Like for example in your video, you add in a text saying when you finish talking about another thing "Adding Text" with white borders and a purple background .

So, evertyime I had a photo or video, I go into the crop but it becomes to large. like I can't see the arrows after I make it small enough to fit? like sometimes I get it to fit good because I can't see where I pull. If that makes sense. and another question. Everytime I add a photo or video it comes in as an animation. any idea how to stop that?
Just a heads up, you don't need to render as audio only for voice overs! Select the video and audio while holding control, and press u. That separates audio and video and then delete the video part and you have the audio alone! No need to waste time rendering a voice over ;)
I'm having a little trouble with the clip I want to use; when I import the file (.mp4) to the editor, the entire video is just some dark green colour. The audio, however, is perfect. I tried simply opening the file in a normal media player and it appeared perfectly fine. How exactly do I fix this? EDIT: It seems that the mp4 videos I recorded with a program called "Filmora Screen Capture" (which came with my old video editor, Wondershare Filmora) are the ones that appear this way in the editor. I opened some other mp4 files I had lying around and they worked fine. I guess I'll just try another recording, but with another program.
Hi Eline! I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 13 as my editor as well, but I noticed that after I render the video it instantly brightens and adds contrast to the video, is it Normal? Ik weet niet of je het al weet maar je kunt ook de video en audio splitsen door op ctrl+U te drukken en dan zijn ze los van elkaar gekoppeld en kun je dus alleen de audio of video gebruiken😊❤

I have a question, when making reviews video, I have 1 clip of me talking, and other clip to show the item, How do I keep the track of the first clip still rolling as the second clip being shown? (if you know what i mean, basically the talking clip is still going on in the background while the product clip is rolling mute). THANK YOU!!!!!
+Thoai Anh Dinh ah I see what you mean, just select the product clip, drag it to the place where you want it and place it on top of the talking clip. I explain it at 21:55 in the video :)
