In this video I take a minute to talk about what went wrong with my last set of kits. Failure and loss is always hard but that is a huge part of homesteading. Its only a complete loss if you don't take away a knowledge when its said and done. That is the part where you gain experience.

Everything is a learning experience. You are doing a wonderful job. All we can do is try again and don't give up. It can be discouraging but it gets easier. Just wanted to let you know that if a kit is chilled that you can actually warm them up with your hands or in your shirt. They may even seem dead but you are able to actually bring them back. Also if the kits are truly dead then they will become like literal ice cubes. You have to check the nest daily. I'm praying you have a better success next go around!

Don't be too hard on yourself. Things happen, and her having kits in two piles complicated the issue. In the future, if kits are getting cold, bring them in and you can use your body heat to warm them up before deciding to put them back into the pile. Three babies in a pile may or may not be enough to make enough heat for themselves. Always check their bellies to see if she has fed them. I lost a litter once because Mama's milk didn't come in and I didn't think of that, as I had never had that happen before. I have some videos on my channel which will help you learn about caring for the kits and what they need. Learning from experience is important, however, learning from other people's experiences means you make less mistakes along the way. Good luck with the rabbits, you will get there.

My rabbit's first litter, she had 7 kits. 3 days later. There where only 2 left. My guess is she ate them, possibly out of stress or a lack of protein. I have since started giving a protein supplement, as well as improving there living space with a dedicated sleeping area so they feel more secure. All we can do is learn from our mistakes, and make improvements when we can.

@TomikaKelly she has had a few litters since then, and I have not had any more problems. Hopefully, it doesn't happen again.

I have Zero experience with rabbits, i got two that im moving under my chicken coop until I start building my hutch, im also thinking about building a community rabbit hutch in the future.

I had mine in my chicken coop for a while but you won’t be able to use any manure for your garden beds (if you are going to have any) because the chickens will scratch it away. The only thing I don’t like about the community hutch or colony raising is you don’t have control over the breeding, but a lot of people like doing it that way!

@elderacres the rabbit hutch I'm building will be above the compost bins, the rabbits will be kept temporarily under my coop, it's a 8x8 down there, I'm laying down wood chips, compost can be collected from the top, I built 2 double doors to have full access to the bottom of the coop, there is gravity fed plumbing under the coop for multiple watering applications for different animals, All gravity water comes from a full chicken coop rain harvesting system, water never runs out, I hate watering the rabbits 🐇 as much as watering the chickens, I'm automating all watering around here with sustainable options.

one thing about bunnies, bunnies will always make more bunnies. Just learn from your mistakes and move forward.

There was a box I took it out. In this video I even say she had 4 in the front of her box.
