One of my photography instructors had us do projects in our "garden" aka back yard. Just walk out your door and shoot! I am going to practice these tips at home!
Finally the first among a video from my favorite author. Although you say this video is mainly for beginners, as someone who has been filming for quite a long time, I always find something in your videos that I can use and utilize. Thanks.
I was just going to set out to shoot some B Roll with my pocket 3. How timely that your video popped up. Now I’m all inspired and stuff. Thanks, Tamara.
I have just updated to a modern but used M2 Max with 32Gb RAM and FCP instead of my 2013 MacBook Pro and iMovie. Tamara and a few others have given me a several ideas for my family videos and travel stuff, I never had the opportunity to develop before. ✅
Thanks, Tamara this is the first time I watched your content... I can say you have amazing teaching or sharing skills... I will implement most of the tips shared... Thanks again...
This was fantastic. It’s definitely easier to film video in a beautiful location so I LOVE that you chose to film this in a parking lot. I need to experiment with speed ramps
Tamara I just gotta say I love your videos and how you really help out beginners. I bought a pocket 3 after watching some of your previous videos and I would say you have helped me a lot!
this is amazing Tamara, great tips, you just know your in the UK when you see a ASDA store lol, im still gutted i missed you at the photography show, im hoping someone somewhere down the line has a recording of it so we can see what we missed
@@TamaraGabrielUK oh great. I didn’t even know you had a members area lol. I’m always at the show most of time but this time I couldn’t due to Ramadan (fasting) I’m sure we will meet. I probably would of stalked you for a selfie lol 😂
Thank you for this and technique number 2 in particular. I understood shooting in higher frames rates for slomo but not why I would want to use 50 or 60 fps.
Fantastic tips, thanks Tamara. I got the pocket 3 but havent unboxed it yet. I'm excited to try it because of You! Your videos make filming more interesting. Thank you.
Ok…if someone can make cinematic footage while recording in the parking lot of a grocery store the tips mist be good! Well done! I enjoyed the OP3 footage, but also thought the OA4 worked so well in this too! Btw…being from the West-coast of Canada I had to look up ASDA.
Absolute gold, Tamara! This is what every beginner filmmaker needs. As a fellow Black Brit, I'm very proud of your channel. Keep up the good content; it is very helpful.
Thanks! I can’t remember what the gain was on, but I was just using Audio-to-Video sync, Low Cut filter off, noise reduction off, then I added some EQ in post to take a bit of the muffle out.
Another great video, I appreciate the knowledge. I also loved, how u mentioned at the end, all shot in normal profile. Which means that I too can do the same, if I put those techniques together. And I will be picking up those lots, thank you again. Peace and blessings ✊🏿.
What if you have edited the footage from dji pocket 3 with a phone 🤳 like s21 ultra or any flagship phone using capcut, kinemaster just any mobile video editing app. And what kind of footage we should expect comparing to editing with a laptop 👩💻 ???
Thanks, Tamara, very valuable video. I wanted to ask, when applying LUTs to the video, is it ok to combine different LUTs or is it better to stick to the same look throughout whole video. Noob question, I know... :D
That’s completely up to you. Most people would argue to stick to the same LUT for consistency throughout the video, but it depends on the scenes. For example you might use a different LUT of footage shot indoors and outdoors or night and day.
@@TamaraGabrielUK makes sense. If I have an hour long family trip video, I think it is better to think that way: say night scenes one lut, indoors second and daylight outside third. Thank you.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Yeah, that's Bushman's main competitor. Also a very good Monopod, but less expensive. I've been thinking about grabbing a couple of the Bushman Pro's for my time-lapse and motion control time-lapse work, since you can counterbalance the pole on the lower tripod feet @ 10, 15, and 45 degrees.
Hi, I want to start a RU-vid channel and can’t decide which camera to get. My main channel will be travel blogging, mostly in tropical destinations. I’m stuck between DJI OSMO POCKET 3 or the GO PRO 12, which would you recommend?
I constantly fight with 25fps because of judder. Especially on pans. Whenever I use 24 or 25fps, I become really wary of moving the camera because of it.
@@kevinpick1469 you often find that people accustomed to 24/25fps just don’t see judder. That’s why Tamara says that she hasn’t experienced it. With modern TV’s that are bright and contrasty, they almost highlight judder. There is also another thing that most RU-vidrs never mention….. in the cinema, we get 24fps shot at all kinds of (slow) shutter speeds, but the picture is only shown for 1/48 with a black frame following for 1/48 or maybe less, so the blur is the same as the ‘shown’ frame rate. That is, the picture is flashed for 1/48 with the same shutter, followed by a black frame to change the picture. Our brains then insert an imagined amount of movement for the black frame. It’s called persistence of vision. However, on RU-vid, we see the picture for a full 1/24 of second with 1/48 of blur. No gap. So the next picture jumps suddenly to its next position, with our brains unable to ‘insert’ smoothness. That’s why judder is awful on digital video. However, people are accustomed to it and just don’t see it. Or they accept it as ‘cinematic’ because we often see judder in the movies! There is no way around it, other than use a faster frame rate, but then people accustomed to ‘cinematic judder’ can’t accept that smoothness and say that it looks too real, and smooth! I was watching a John Wayne movie a few weeks back, and during action, I froze the picture. There was an enormous amount of blur. They must have used a much wider shutter angle so that the picture became a blurry mess on still frame. So no chance of judder. They went to great lengths to disguise judder in those days and still got it…… Eventually, the movie people will probably move away from a frame rate that was chosen to save film stock but still retain motion. We will all then accept the smoothness of faster frame rates as normal and see that the old movies were jam packed with judder! I don’t mind 24fps as long as there is very little camera movement. As soon as I start swing the camera around, I raise the frame rate or else, there will be judder.
OP3's Normal Color with proper exposure (like -1 for outdoors) produces great true color image while most of graded image which usually look very fake and ugly.
Camera motion needs to make sense to the viewer. Revealing from the bushes makes the viewer confused. Is this a stalker POV - a dog POV - a bug POV. It's all about motivation. Don't do this. It looks amateur.
