I understand that recovery is my responsibility but what makes it frustrating is that I want it so bad. I think I might be really hard on myself and impatient at times. I just want it to be gone for good. I know it’s a process but man when thereare setbacks sometimes I think I’m too hard on myself and that why it’s not totally going away. I need to just embrace the process and not fell like I’m failing. My panic attacks are less frequent.. less intense and def things are way better. Thanks again Shaan. 💖💙

take away the resistance. allow it to be around as long as it wants. the longer you want something gone..the longer it stays. what you resist persists. actually you should ask for more. embrace it. get excited by it.

Shaan I don’t understand but my insomnia makes me so anxious all day it just won’t let up! My body seems to be in the flight or fight mode every day. I’m anxious every where I go I feel it. Driving I’m anxious and stores I’m anxious… It’s crazy how it got to this because it started from a health scare and then came the insomnia and then anxiety and that’s been 3 yrs ! No medication but it feels like I’m going bananas especially when I don’t sleep but I keep getting up early and can’t go back and wake up anxious and mind racing about sleep and anxiety lol !!! It’s like a cycle that repeats over and over but I can’t seem to win the battle.

I have anxiety from past 2.5 years, now I think because of chronic stress I might have developed autoimmune disease and inflammation as written on internet and now my tests also have started coming bad.. so anxiety is causing the effects now... if this stress and anxiety goes away I might be better and tests return to normal. But it has become a cycle. If anxiety goes away then I will be better but anxiety itself causing me stress and deteriorating my health and I keep thinking about that hence more anxiety.. Don't know what to do I am completely stuck.

In conclusion, you can't control your thoughts or your circumstances, but you CAN control your reactions to them. One thing I'd add is that all of the things we do to try to fight/resist/control/stop anxiety is what keeps the anxiety cycle going. It is the escape (or attempt to escape) that maintains the fear. Taking note of attempts to escape is a key to recovery, as is learning to sit with uncomfortable physical sensations. Equally important is being kind to yourself when you do choose the escape route.

I have gathered good amount of insight on anxiety. But the one thing that seems to always come back to me is the number of labels that come with the anxiety. There are so many labels like hypochondria, OCD, GAD, Panic disorder, this and that! And these feel very sticky like even if you are overcoming everything, seems like that one label will always stick to you like your identity. I hate that. I also feel like intrusive thoughts, panic attacks or physical issues are all symptoms of anxiety and not seperate disorders within themselves.

Hi. I understand what you mean. Those labels will ''disappear'' once the (core) symptoms are gone (for good). When you fully recover (meaning you are no longer fullfiling the main criteria points for GAD, panic etc.,) than you are not those labels anymore ! I went through the whole anxiety neurosis route (panic disorder, hypochondria, GAD, mild social anxiety and mild depression plus all of these physical symptoms including GERD). Well, it was a true hell ride. Now I feel a lot better than I did during that ''ride''.
