I have interest in hotshot trucking, but I have no money to start it. Love to do it one day though! And yeah, he's pretty good at keeping your interest in it, aye?
Perfect video on the reality of hotshotting to anyone wanting to get into this game. Brokers don’t want to pay the trucks and half the time they don’t know the size of the load they are wanting shipped.
@@richardkruse1574 I'm in Wisconsin also and looking into hot shotting as a career change from hardwood flooring. Kinda put a damper on that with your comment. 😞
I highly appreciate what I'm seeing here. A day in the life/ business, as a business owner not just a steering wheel holder. I like it. I'm going in that direction as a company driver now. I'd like to be more involved.
It’s funny how new people think that the loads pay $2 or more a mile when in truth you have to almost always partial your way to that kind of rate in hotshot. Nothing is easy when it comes to booking freight and even harder in the current market.
If I was you, I'd add sdl for loading ramps as you do have ramps if I'm not mistaken. There are the occasional small partial tractor less than 10,000 for more than $1.25 a mile.
@@notdylon9038 are you fucking smoking crack. He's giving all hotshot truckers a bad name. Driving down the road with a loaded trailer on a fucking laptop. This guys gonna hurt somebody
@@dustinhuffman574 Yet a deputy here where I live was "glancing" at his computer and ran over and killed a kid who was walking to his bus stop. No charges against the deputy. Had it been you or me, vehicular manslaughter. By the way....The deputy was driving in a car. The kind you say could stop on a dime.
Always watch till the end with commerical ads. Guys, please don't skip the ads! By the way can you make a video of what you usually eat? Or some cooking section inside or outside your truck? Seriously, would be enjoyable to watch Haha.
I know that you have to look for a load, but it's not safe to be looking for a load while driving. I'd say it be best to pull over and look or wait until you are unloading. Still a great video though.
Dude we love you man, great teaching and operating SKILZ. I am a heavy haul vet. I had to retire 10 years ago due to health. After watching your streams my kids started bugging me to refire our company. I am unable to operate however while everyone's SICK or HIDING from VIRUS. I helped my DAUGHTER purchase 4 new RAM 3500s w/Cummins built to hotshot. I know it's all risk but we could not stand and watch THEY destroy our GREAT NATION. Once upon a fairly tale, I helped do allot to keep America GREAT. Now we watch in horror, not fear horror, but the kind that tears at your soul FOR WHICH WE ALL STAND. So my daughter, financed by herself, (only in America) with her brothers help 4 new RAMS. ( RAM IT ! ) Now my kids are pushing me out the door to go get there first trailer. Thanks for the grief, I was enjoying the calm. Now the storm is here, we will do our part. Rain or storm, hell or highwater, " to the end, forward we go " I sure hope it will be more like, " we're gonna need a bigger boat ". lol We love you man, hope to see you out their. I40 exit 311. We sure love to meet the feller that ruined our calm.
Gosh. I drove 500,000 miles with 4 cars alone since I got my license. Almost 28 now. I’d love to do this shit because I love driving. I saw one pop up for Allentown PA which is where I’m at. I would have called them real quick. I thought of doing this with cars and smaller items. Like UPS but Uber style lol. My ideas get taken quick so I’m sure I’ll see an app for this in a year.
In relation to previous problems you have had with trailer axles.First of all do not buy u-bolts from a car parts store. These are not rated for Hot Shot use.Second you have to torque the u-bolts on installation,And re-torque after at least 200 miles. This accounts for the stretch factor.I would recommend buying a set of u-bolts from a spring shop and carry a spare set. Also the actual diameter of the bolts should be addressed. This should help to avoid breakdowns.I am a recent subscriber and very interested in your plans.A bit of caution,Dont speed be carefull in your expansion plans. You worked very hard for yourself and family.Dont ruin it.There are many snakes in the road.Good luck God Bless and be safe........
This is so hard for me to watch because you are clearly moving in much of this but you're looking at the camera, looking at the screen and choosing loads, both hands are in the air - WHO is driving????
I also saw a comment about talking to brokers. I thought it was a tough process and I hate being on the phone so I was thinking maybe this isn’t for me. But you don’t have to say much to the broker. Hey just looking into the load from Arizona to PA. Then they take the conversation. Not that bad. I thought you’d have to be “Hey I’m Billy. I’m trying to reach Jess.” Billy from where? What’s this in regards to? “I own Bills Trucking and saw a tow/haul on this website that Jess posted.” Nah much easier than those conversations.
How do you heat your truck in the winter time without idling and how do you cool it in the summertime without idling and how do you set up your backseat for a bed I just bought a 2023 Dodge duly 76,000 pound towing capacity and I think it’s 7000 pound payload what are your recommendations for trailer gooseneck 40 footer maybe
Awesome video brother am thinking of becoming a hot shot thank you for your videos am learning knowledge. Also awesome real live phone communication with brokers. That lets me see what’s it like all your vids bro thanks for sharing this knowledge stay bless safe travels
looks like you could easily get into an accident using your computer while driving.....and those girls at home would be sad to see daddy/husband laid up in the hospital or at home in bandages....stay safe brother!
SO, 1000 miles for $1 a mile. 10 mpg so about 400-ish in fuel leaves $600. 20 hours-ish drive time so $600 divided by 2 days is $300 a day and you have to pay insurance, depreciation and monthly payment on the truck and trailer? Sounds like it's no better than tractor box trailer loads.
If you make 10,000 a month are you spending about half of that on insurance fuel food taxes and a place to sleep? I’d like to know how much it costs to be a hotshot
All professional drives that are owner/ops are distracted driving. You have to run all aspects of your business from the driver seat. It’s the company drivers that you don’t want distracted while driving. 😂
Company drivers are distracted texting, leaning the truck on the governor. O/O'S are the guys riding the slow lane 5-10 under trying to find the next one. But honestly bro your eyes are kinda off the road more than I'd be comfortable with. Do your grind but stay vigilante dont be complacent with road dangers. That's when they bite you
How can I add that extension you were talking about? I went on Chrome extensions and looked it up and it doesn’t come up. Or is there a different extension I can use? Please help…
Hey @towpiglet loving the channel. Curious why you couldn't pick up the 51' steel beam with your trailer at the end of the video? Does the entire load need to be on the trailer?
Not sure how your piecing together the phone call through the computer, and what seems to be to the truck bluetooth? Nice setup, would help for a "101" explanation
@ 13:03 did he just loose his gum, or was that a wad of spit? Has he ever don a video where he breaks down the trucks, trailers and weights per license? I have a full blown CDL because decades ago when I was a mechanic, we needed to get one, but drive now and am not liking the whole "Tractor Trailer Trucking" thing but after watching his videos, I'm thinking I might give this a try. Cheaper equipment and what not.
Instead of using a percent of paid miles to figure maximum deadhead might it be better to look at pay per mile for all miles driven (paid miles + deadhead miles)?
That’s probably the CNC machine some hot shot girl delivered and the slings that they used to unload it broke and the Machine fell on her trailer and the crane. The machine was destroyed
It had for sure seen better days. I was thinking exactly the same thing. It didn't arrive damaged, there was a skills issue getting it off the trailer...
I'm just starting with hotshot Trucking, having trouble finding loads because I'm in my 1st month of having my authority active. What advice can you give me to help me find loads and get around this 90 day stuff. Thanks, anything is appreciated
Hello, I live Rowland Heights.. I have CDL A.. East West long distance career. more than 15 years… I am very interested in Dually. Can I start with a company driver?Give me a good information ~
I couldn’t stand google voice. I ditched it and have two lines on my iPhone. New iPhones have Esims and you can put two phone lines on it. Super easy to pick which one to use. You just have to add a line, and I think it can be any provider.
I’ve been looking into getting into hotshot, but it seems like you have to rely on so many people for you to actually get an income. It doesn’t seem worth it
Hello I can’t get a cdl because of the meds I take how can I look for non cdl hot shot driving job so I can get my foot in the door I just want to get a job with a Company I don’t have a truck or trailer but I want to get in to the Business
