Love the concept of peaceful solitude. I think many folks who like to travel alone can relate (me for sure)

Am also resonate with your thoughts 👍 the satisfaction I get after donning a Photowalk or shoot is highly boosting my soul which otherwise is low donning our routine life chores ☺️ thanks for posting the video which inspires me to take up blue hour photoshoot 🙌

i try to live by this too.. it's like when you walk out of a movie you don't remember so well each scene by scene, more how it made you feel.

We’re so focused on lens sharpness or film simulations that we forget about emotion. Well said 🤙🏼

Dude this is exactly what my college essay was about! I wrote about a new, more personal, feelings-based approach that I’ve started taking and how my photos became more meaningful.

I reallly like how you have gone from just a photographer to make this kind of videos, it has been cool to follow your journey all the way from the beginning. Keep up the good work

Thanks Thomas - yes it has been quite a journey for me, this artform has given me so much just on a personal level and I'm glad the videos resonate.

your video makes a lot of sense to me. I am very fond of photographic techniques and I always let myself be influenced by seeing other people doing some technically difficult photography.

This is great advice and I totally agree! My best work have come from just going with a mood/feeling.

This was very well explained Teemu, thanks for sharing. Some of my most precious memories traveling alone had similar "moods" to your work, and I've been a fan on your insta for a while now. Cheers

Honestly I think doesn't apply just to photography, but to all sorts of visual art. Learning how to express specific feelings is what make things feel genuine Anyways, this was a nicely put together video. I can imagine this can be a difficult idea to put into words lol, but you explained it really well

Great video. It's crazy how much photography youtubers (including me) often forget to talk about this! Mood is very important.

That's exactly the reason why I take so few photos. Not that I do not have any emotions, but the moments worth capturing and to share with others are so few. Don't get me wrong, I'm the most emotional person in the world (crying watching Spongebob 🤣), but sharing or keeping those moments is a different thing. At least for me. Coming from film photography every single shot counts. Keep on going, your journey has become one of my favorite YT channels and in IG accounts (next to the man of cats Mr. Bloom himself and Joe Allam). Thanks for sharing all this!

Thank you I'm very happy to hear that. Photography is an interesting paradox because on one hand, being stingy with the shutter and having high standards for what you consider a picture worth taking is pretty necessary for creating meaningful work, but also, practice makes perfect, and the more you shoot the better you get at capturing those moments - or emotions.

Thanks Teemu, your videos have definitely helped me develop as a photographer. I also don't have a background in arts and these videos makes photography feel a little less overwhelming to me, even when the topic is slightly abstract like in this particular video.

Do you think this approach might fit under the "Contemplative Photography" label?

To me it’s the reason why I take pictures, like I feel a certain vibe that I can’t explain and I want to capture that moment into a picture. Btw, bought your course, it’s great but can we have a Discord channel for the students to share and critique their works ?
@teemu.mp4

Good to hear. Yes that might be a good idea, will update if/when a discord is added.

Give time to yourself, you have to be inexistent to be born un the first place, so now is your moment to be born and find out about life. Dont rush, try and experience things that call your attention, give time to yourself and triste the process. Big hug from here, and i hope you text me again to see how you are doing, take care
