I love how we're growing older together. We've learned how to moisturize, we've learned how exfoliate, we've learned to put on SPF. It's all a learning process!
What’s your issue with exfoliating? I like to use one of James’ old favourites; either the Glow Recipe BHA toner or the Bubble Deep Dive mask. Good luck!
@@Piecesoftheshadowit might be doing less. I found I was heavily over exfoliating for my skin condition, and moved to zero physical and only chemical exfoliation. My skin’s never been better! But you’ll need to find the right products for your skin condition
@@Piecesoftheshadow what have you tried so far? And how sensitive is your skin? My go to’s for years and years have been the Paula’s Choice exfoliating liquid & The Ordinary’s aha + bha peeling. Not everyone can handle those tho. Especially the lather. I don’t recommend it for people with sensitive skin. I should be recommending some more gentle alternatives, because gentle = better. But somehow my skin just loves those products. Lately I’ve also really been enjoying the Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0. Whatever you do, please don’t use harsh physical exfoliators (scrubs). Those can do a lot more harm than good.
Something I love so much about your reviews is the way you'll react to 'special ingredients' like the green tomato- so many people will go 'omg, it has this green tomato extract which is SO GOOD for you it does XYZ' despite the fact that they've got no idea what green tomatoes have in them or what it could do for the skin, it just sounds natural and wholesome so they assume it must be good. You on the other hand just go 'well, they say it does this, no clue how or why it would, but the serum works well!' and that's so much more honest.
Ahhh haha thank you so much. Sometimes I feel like I should ask all my science friends what they think but honestly most things in skincare is just marketing and I think we are all wise to that!
When I was an Esthetician, I treated people with rosacea and used a plant/fruit enzyme mask that was really gentle and excellent and softening the top dead layer of skin. I'm guessing that is what is going on with your mask that you apply with the soaked gauze. It only takes about 15 minutes, and then all you do is wipe it away. I can't peel people with rosacea, so it's the best exfoliator I could use. I also used it before extractions in exactly the same way you just did. :)
@@Skizzenfuchs I'm no longer an Esthetician so I don't use any clinical strength masks. I personally don't use any exfoliant other than uncoated aspirin that I make into a paste.
Yesss! I rarely break out anymore or even have blackheads, but my nose is a constant battlefield against sebaceous filaments 😅 Thanks for sharing your routine!
daily cleansing, double cleansing, chemical exfoliants like salicylic and glycolic acid, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide and spf, all used when needed, are what’s helped my oily, acne-prone skin and reduced my incidence of sebaceous filaments ✨
I've never wanted to buy cosmetics someone mentioned in a video. This time I'm close to just adding ALL of them to my cart! I hope you got some good commission from them James! And thank you for the great advice, just what I needed right when I needed it, really
James, you should try the medipeel extra super 9+ 2.0 blackhead care solution because it’s better than the Ilso melting serum, it’s a best seller here in Korea ❤
I use the Paula's Choice twice a week and Peach Slices salicylic moisturizer 3xs a week in the pm. Combined with prescription tret 0.05% on alternate nights. After approximately 4 weeks, I've noticed a great difference. (In case this helps 😊)
Thank you for sharing this, James! Even though I'm using tretinoin and spironolactone in my mid-30s, my skin is better than before, but I still unfortunately struggle with clogged pores and sebaceous filaments on my nose. I actually bought the Ilso products from Olive Young, and now love using the Ilso Deep Clean Master tool to unclog my pores after I shower about once a week or every other week.
Wanted to know how to get rid of these my WHOLE life almost, I’m 21 and I have them under my chin upper lip and under eyes, I ONLY trust your videos so I’m glad you made one on this:)
This video came right when I was asking for it! So thank you!! Coming from a humid climate, my skin only breaks out when I’m living where I’m currently based. So this’ll help!!
I just received the Ilso Cebum Softener. Can’t wait to try it! I’ve been using the Skin1004 Poremizer Ampoule and it works really well on my nose. I also just got the Sungboon Green Tomato ampoule and I love it! It has a nice light scent that is so refreshing! 💚
I used the Reedle shot for the first time last night and it gives you the strangest feeling, love it 🙂 what made a huge difference for my large oily AF pores recently was surprisingly the Oat cleansing balm from the Inkey list used instead of a night cleanser (after makeup removing oil). When I saw that consistency, I was expecting turning into a clogged, bumpy mess the next day, but it was the opposite. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and the results are great❤
Something that made my skin look absolutely poreless and smooth was the Skinmiso 3 step nose pack. That first step was amazing and I could use an extractor to gently remove it. It was so amazing and I was devastated when it was discontinued. I couldn't even read the ingredients, lol. So I'm so excited to start finding products like the sebum softener. I have Sungboon Editor blackhead melting pads and it feels EXACTLY like I remember the skinmiso pack feeling. It works the same, it just doesn't come with a qtip and a poreless primer texture thing. Which I liked but can do without. The sebum softening stuff is so great, I'm glad to see more products like that. My nose always has sebaceous filaments and skinmiso made them disappear for a while, so I'm trying to use the pads once a week. Honestly though I want to use them every night I just don't want to irritate my skin, lol. It's amazing.
I have to agree that Ilso is pure “magic”. I order a couple of their pads, but I will order the bottle soon because it’s more affordable. I’ve been loving Isntrees mugwort clay mask. Greetings from Sweden ❤❤❤
I have been using the ilso products for a bit now from an earlier reco from you. It's crazy how well it works. I didnt see it right away but over a few weeks i swear my skin looks and feels different.
This video came at such a good time!! I’ve been so bothered by my sebaceous filaments. Started using the Medicube zero pore pads which is helping but I feel like I need a little bit more help. Thank you for the recommendations 😍
I actually have all of those products except that particular cleansing balm (but I have 6 different cleansing balms, so I think I'm okay, lol), and the moisturizer. I tend to stay away from heavy moisturizers, though, because I usually get oily soon overnight, and those just add to the oil layer 🥴. I JUST got the sebum softener and reedle shot collab package you did. SO 👏 VERY 👏 EXCITED 👏. My poor pores need some refreshments 😂
Thank you so much for this! I prefer a micellar water over oil cleansing, but I will be trying out the bringgreen cleanser (currently use cetaphil), the islo, and the sungboon green tomato. Really looking forward to the bringgreen cleanser for the pH balancing and calming mugworts. I used to use something similar back in the mid-late 90s (pHisoderm), but they changed the formulation and it hasn't been the same for like 20+ years (hence the cetaphil). Can't wait, and thanks for the links/code. Always glad to throw some coin your way! ❤
James... do you have a direct link to my laptop or my mind? How did you know I was focusing on my pore game and looking for some good products to try out... You are psychic... it's almost creepy! I can't wait to try out the Super Melting Sebum Serum and the VT Reedle Shot!
Hi James, Iv been using Numbuzin's Pantothenic B5 active drying powder as a mask and that has really helped my SFs and rosacea in general 😊 Thanks for a great video! Xxx
Hi James! Unrelated question to what the video its about (Sorry xD). Are you using the earcuff kind of earbuds? I am unsure how they are called (I think you are wearing them on the first part of washing your face). But I've been trying to spot somebody who has them because I want to know if they fall off easily, could be worn for running. If that is what you are wearing, I'd love to hear your feedback. Thank you ❤❤
Omg thank you, you just answered my question about that Ilso product (can it worth that week on my awful textured forehead with closed comedons? btw you look awesome, like always but still 😊
This is helpful! My poles are always clogged. Do you have videos about how to help lessen redness? Like my face is always 4 shades darker and redder than my neck and body and I can’t make it match my neck more like it used to be when I was younger 😢
In case anyone else gets waxy plugs in their SCALP (I get this as well as a very congested face) I found the only item to ever help, aside from taking Accutane. Nécessaire Scalp Serum! My oily scalp stays calm and I have almost no little waxy plugs when I run my nails over my scalp. I didn't think it was possible. Also fragrance free!
@JamesWelsh How are you getting the Sake Bomb delivered to the UK? It won't deliver here for me. I added two, in case it was a minimum order value thing but still no luck. Help, please? If not, is there anything else similar please?
hi! have you every considered the salicylic acid from paula's choice ? its said to be great for sebaceous filaments. if yes, what are your thoughts about it?
Sebaceous filaments....lol. For ONE THING: they are made of keratin, not sebum. The sebum doesn't need a filament to make it's way out of the pore! When a hair starts growing at the root bulb a sheath of kerating holds the hair. When the hair reaches telophase (stops growing) the sheath shrinks and dries up. It needs to exit the pore so another hair can grow. Since keratin is sticky it gets stuck in the pore. It can lead to blackheads, whiteheads and acne. That's all it is. Keratin.
They are hairs covered in sebum due to sebum over production. Looks like it's both. Lol "It is caused by sebum accumulation and cornified keratinocytes surrounding hair follicles, resulting in visible excretions." - pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10712575/
The new background is nice but I loves your Sailor Moon Lightstick!! 🫶🏻 Edit : I've heard some scary/bad reviews of Reedle, so that aside I'm looking for to trying the Numbuzin3 Serum! Also, nose strips are harsh but they're the most effective products to remove the stubborn blackheads I have! 🤧
I’ve had this background for over a year now haha! No i 100% agree! I have some and will still use them if I get a real stubborn black head or something! Also to remove the little hairs off my nose haha
@@JamesWelsh I've been busy so I haven't caught up with all your vids so sorry I didn't notice 😭 I clicked on this vid as soon as the notif popped onscreen bc I've a huge problem with clogged pores/blackheads in general. 🫶🏻
Can engine help with a question I have been using dr undress mask aim wondering how it compares to tjr drunk elephant baby facial. And help will be appreciated thank
