This Video Is A Great Cost Effective And Another Alternative Way To Get Rid Of Unwanted Weeds. Good For driveways, Patios, Entryways And Paths. Please Be Careful Using It Near Your Lawn And Plants It Will Get rid Of Them Too.
Works well. Been doing it for a few years. You have to regularly apply it. Eventually it sterilises the soil so nothing grows. Might get a few seeds blow into the gaps but that’s about it. It’s great for block paved drives. My neighbour asked me why my drives clear of weeds and his drive isn’t.
Boiling water straight from the kettle, nothing else, always does the trick. Can be a little time consuming but it will kill the weeds for good & is very cost effective.
@@bramble3693 Hello, I would think is a mixture of 5ltr white vinegar, tablespoon of dish soap/ washing up liquid and approximately a cup of salt. Hope it helps 🌸Wendy🌸
I use 5 ltr white vinegar 1 cup table salt few squirts washing up liquid, give a good mix to dissolve the salt and transfer to a pump sprayer and spray the weeds preferably when it’s dry. Worked for me,some weeds are stubborn though and need another dose.
Rock Salt from the Builders Merchant works a treat. best to spread it before heavy rain is expected. totally kills everything and lasts for 3 - 6 months.
I fill the watering can with hot water, add 500g of cheap table salt, pour on my drive, within a week the weeds and grass turn brown and blow away, also the black on the paving bricks disappears, they start to come back after a couple of months, earlier if it's been raining a lot, then I do it again, it costs a couple of quid. I use white vinegar and water to spray on my fence when it turns green, that disappears in the same way. Cheap and safe, harmless to wildlife and insects, better than Glyphosate 👍
Thank you, great video, straight to the point! Im going to give both of these a try I have a lot of paving around my garden and I don’t us any herbicides so this will be something to try! 😊
@@doonewatts7155 Hope it will help you and they are cheap enough to repeat the process if there are stubborn weeds. I really hate buying weed killer and I haven’t done for a the last 4-5 years. Hope it does the trick. 🌸Wendy🌸
Boiling hot water kills weeds without using salt. Rock salt kills everything, even horsetail as it takes the moisture out of the ground. I use rock salt because I’ve got a problem with horsetail.
Thank you for this information, i have a lot of weeds around my patio but i wont use chemicals, because my old dogs eat the grasses. I'll try your methods and see.
A great eco friendly tip for weed killing, I used, white vinegar, bicarb, salt & fairy liquid, to kill off some bamboo roots in my back garden. It took a while and a few applications but now I have managed to eradicate them all. I read that the vinegar removes the nutrients in the soil, so i have dug in some compost and have sowed a few wild flower seeds to see if they grow, there are small shoots showing, so I guess the soil is ok for planting builbs next month. 😊
@@brummiegazz wow that’s amazing to kill off your bamboo roots to, I managed to kill off two small conifer trees lol using washing up liquid and white vinegar . It’s good you have signs of life with the wild seeds well done 👍🏼 Thank you for your reply 🌸 Wendy 🌸
Ive been using plain vinegat nothing else as if it were paint. A fluffy paint roller on a long handle dipped into the paint tray filled with the vinegar and roll it over the weeds. I found that a sprayer is more effort and the vinegar can rust any metal parts inside the spray components. Hot water is really good and so is the salt.
@@katgle2925 I think the small of the vinegar could put them off to as it’s got a very strong aroma, Our dog Luna won’t go near it . Don’t use it near lawns or plants as it will get rid of them to. Hope it helps 🌸Wendy🌸
Use exactly the same approaches ... they work excellently .. have a high vinegar cost though !! Spraying is not one tenth as good as using the watering can imho ... lovely though .. thks for sharing !! ❤
I use the white vinegar and fairy liquid to clean our shower screen and tiles so I have always got this mixed up in a trigger pump bottle and use a well known weed killer to get rid of any weeds on our driveway so definitely going to try it out on the weeds thanks for the tip.
@@HannadayFLO That is true where I can I pull and sometimes if I can’t get all the roots out I give them a squirt with the hand held spray bottle, I have a brick driveway at the front of my house and both methods work great but definitely if you’ve boiled the kettle for a coffee why not use the remaining hot water for those types of areas. Thank you for your reply Wendy 🌸
Boiling water alone will kill many plants, as I found at my expense when I emptied some very hot water onto the grass not thinking it would damage it, but it did!
@@nancygoodman8273 Some weeds can be more stubborn, a hot day works better. I prefer this method than keep buying the really expensive weed killers. Best wishes Wendy 🌸
I've tried both methods, and everything that's out there, but the weeds just grow back. Yes they go brown and shrivel up, but new shoots just reappear. I've got an asphalt driveway, and a paving stone path and patio, and any remedy, even Weedol and Roundup is always temporary. Now I just resort to gouging / pulling them out by hand and a tool.
@@blondeenigma3882 Best time for me to pull them is after it’s been raining they are much easier to wiggle and pull but I agree there are stubborn weeds that need extra attention and we will always have weeds no matter what but I do like to keep on top of it without it having to cost the earth, someone in the comments say they just use boiled water and I find it’s much better to use these methods ( even for people that prefer buying weed killer ) when it’s a hot day that way they burn to a crisp. While there are weeds it’s a never ending process but if we tackle them early before they take hold it can make life a bit easier. Hope it helps. 🌸Wendy🌸
Sorry to say weed eradication is an annual chore. Dispersed by wind, birds, animals, the source is endless after everything has gone to seed. There is no permanent fix.
I have troublesome weeds on my patio. I bought 2 different weed killers that were pet friendly and sprayed weeds well before I went away for a week so that my dog wouldn’t eat any grass etc They did nothing so I’m going to try these methods. Probably the salt and hot water first as I haven’t any white vinegar
@@BionicRasta if you have persistent weeds, the vinegar or boiled water methods are so cost effective that you can reapply them and for really good results when it’s hot and sunny they burn to a crisp. Just be careful in areas near plants and lawn as it will harm them to. Hope this helps 🌸Wendy🌸
Nice work! I am curious to know if you have to continue to re-apply in order to kill the root. I have been thinking about using this method (dish soap as surfactant and vinegar as the primary weed killer) for the weeds in my lawn before overseeding.
@@greenhorntenderfoot9261 Thank you for your question, I never use it anywhere near my lawn or plants as it will kill them, I buy lawn weed and feed and never apply it ( weed and feed ) if I’m going to apply grass seed and much rather wait until the grass seed has germinated and become established. I also pull up any weeds as soon as I see them coming up in the lawn. If I’m using it like in my video then I would re-apply if needed, I find it just as good and less costly than a lot of the weed killers that are on the market and you get more for your money. Hope this helps Wendy 🌸
@@rosemaryturner5236 It’s definitely effective and if there are stubborn weeds another spray should do the trick, you can add salt in the mix as well if you want to. A hot day works best as they burn to a crisp. 🌸Wendy🌸
Hi New subscriber here. How can I clean up my patio flags? On a low budget. Dont have a jet wash thingy? Is there eco friendly way to remove the grime? Thanks.
@@DottyDolly-39 Hello, The only thing I can find out for you on a low budget is by using a pH neutral soap a little water and a brush, you could perhaps try scrubbing one or two at first and see how well it’s working. Hope this helps 🌸Wendy🌸
I bought double strength off Amazon, it's more effective than shop bought. I fill a 1 litre spray with the vinegar, 4 tablespoons of table salt and a big squirt of Fairy and use it for spot weed killing. Make sure the salt is dissolved before using. But beware, the vinegar will wreck the seals in a sprayer, unless you're using a sprayer designed for harsh chemicals. I use old bleach sprays as the seals in the spray seem to last longer.
@@joanned9029 Yes it can, it can depend on some weeds that can be persistent but you can also reapply it, works really well in hot weather. But keep in mind we will never get rid of weeds completely and will always have other weeds popping up it’s nice to know these cost effective ways to deal with them also the hot water and salt works too. Hope it helps 🌸Wendy🌸
I think it’s just standard white vinegar, as it is readily available in the 5 L tubs like this lady was using. I’ve used it to clean toilets and they came up a treat. Had to mix it with sodium bicarbonate.
@@celticdollface yes it will, only use it in areas such as driveways, entryway outside gardens where you don’t want weeds coming through to your property, paths or patios where using the vinegar and washing up liquid won’t make contact with lawns or plants. I buy lawn weed and feed for my grass and as soon as I see small weeds coming through I pull them as soon as possible so they won’t get established. Hope this helps. 🌸Wendy🌸
I have a large apple tree, but below it, there are a lot of weeds since we cut it back. It's about 50 years old. If I use the vinegar method will it harm the apple tree?
@@louisejohnson5184 Thank you for you question, I would avoid using vinegar or any herbicides ( weed killers ) at all costs as it will be very harmful to your apple tree, I managed to kill two small conifer trees with it. I’m afraid it’s the old fashioned method of raking/ hoeing and pulling, the best time to do it is after it’s been raining and the weeds are easier to pull, once the main weeding is done keep on top of it by as soon as any small weeds come through pull them before they get to big. Hope it helps. 🌸Wendy 🌸
Hello, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. See John 1:12 for this please. Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?
