Hey Alex! Congrats on your new job, happy for you! I'm currently going through your Udemy series "QA From Scratch: Your Journey to Manual Testing (2024)" as well as watching some of your other videos on QA as I'm searching for my first QA role out of college! I've been doing uTest to gain practical experience as well as many other QA related Udemy series and other freelance sites like CrowdTest and UpWork that I'm going to start very soon. I have had one interview with a company and made it to the 4th round where they decided to go with another candidate. I got very positive responses from the hiring manager as well as the Senior QA Lead throughout the hiring process so that made me feel good in my current skills and showed me that I can get a job in this field. Along with the interviews, I did one live testing session of Google Search as well as a take home assessment to write a test case based on the Amazon checkout experience, and I crushed it thanks to the help of some of your videos! I hope to be able to update you once I get my first QA job offer!

@@alexusadays of course! It is a little tricky to find dedicated QA channels on RU-vid, so your channel has been a great resource! Do you have any other tips on what I should be doing to get practical experience? Or should I just keep up with the freelance sites? Thank you!

I think you are doing great, just put utest as your first job experience in LinkedIn and keep on applying

Congratulations, however I did not find concrete answers to the main questions in this video. You are a senior engineer (it’s buyers market) who already worked as QA Manager before and market favours seniors in such environment. It’s a secret that everyone knows. - How many applications you sent? - How many invited you to interview? - How many steps you went through in an interview with one company? - How LONG were the interviews? - How are the steps like? - Were you asked to do live coding or did they give you any take home challenges? What was the level of difficulty? - How many references they asked you? - How was the negotiation part? Jenius Bank listed range from 78K to 145K. That is a wide range. I would rather prefer to hear whether it was flexible to negotiate or not at all? - Was it a backfill role or a replacement? How many other QAs are there other than you? These are the insights that matter.

Congratulations on starting work in your new company. 😊Thank you for this video. I got a job offer three weeks ago using the same approach. I also attended various events and expanded my networking.

Congrats on your new job. I have just shy of your experience in the game, and have been searching now for 6 months with no hits. Have applied to hundreds of positions, and I've had 3 interviews which made it to the final round but was declined on each opportunity. I sent you a request under Simon to connect if you or your company is looking for more automation engineers in web specializing with JS.

I’m in the same boat. I have had 5 interviews but didn’t pass in the final round. Unfortunately I’m not the best panel interviewer. I still try my best though.

How many jobs do you think you applied to and how many interviews did you get from them ?
@alexusadays
@alexusadays 2 месяца назад
It would vary on day by day, but I did apply daily to 10+ positions. I think the right answer here as many as you can find that are of interest to you
