I think it's important to recognise that a lot of the preparation for this Toefl examination is unseen. I went to a tier 1 English medium school, English was my primary language for years, and I was constantly exposed to English media on a daily basis. Although this video covers topics that are genuinely helpful regardless of your background, the success I had was not solely because of these topics, but rather years of hidden preparation for an examination that tests your proficiency at English. If you don't get the same score as me, don't worry, because I'm still certain with time, practice, and these tips, you can surely improve your score by a legitimate amount. This video was made from a good place, but I still think it's important to add this comment to add context (that similarly applies for a lot of my videos) for any young viewer!!
I totally agree with you, many people just showed that they can crash the test in 3 days or 7 days, what we don't see is the unseen parts where they have been evolving with English environment for so long and effective period. "years of hidden preparation for an examination that tests your proficiency at English" & "a lot of the preparation for this Toefl examination is unseen" were great to mention, so people won't fall in the same trap or feel dissappointed in themself. Anyway, much appreciated for your sharing. It was wonderful and inspiring to see a full-scored is possible!
Sometimes when I watch his videos I feel so low and insecure about my 'achievements' but whenever I see such guide videos I feel extremely grateful for them. Why is life like this....
You're probably the first person who suggested to read entire passage. That technique works for me because going back and forth really freaks me out. But again at the same time if I'm reading entire passage, just because someone said "don't read the entire thing" it really scares me and I end up making mistakes. Thankfully, I have watched this video. It will really help me. Thanks 😊
Yeah, I read through the whole passage as well and I do not understand how you can finish questions without finishing the whole passage😂 I always get 30 on reading so this strategy absolutely work! When I begin to prepare for ACT I realize that TOEFL reading is already friendly enough and you definitely will have sufficient time to finish them after plenty of practice. ACT reading is sooo difficult btw😭
Watching this video after taking the exam (where I got 30 on Reading) and TOTALLY AGREE! You get 18 minutes per reading passage+its 10 questions. I read the passages carefully and with genuine interest, and even though reading might have taken me 5 to 6 minutes, I was able to finish answering the questions in less than 4 minutes. My exam had 4 reading passages and I ended with 10 minutes to spare!
Reading : comprehend what you are reading, Be invested in what you are reading. Speaking : software 1.Speaking rate (Natural and smooth speed) 2.sustained speech(Continuous) 3.Pauses(only where required) Reptations(No umm, so, like) Record yourself practice. learn from youtuber speaking on camera all the time. Structure answer. Listening: Doodling + short notes, WARY, Be in yourself. Writing: pre - layout para points, while - paras A(assertion)C(content)E(example), post - concise conclusion(error-edits)
Dude! Your video helped me so much. I followed your advices and I was able to get 107/120, with 28 for Reading and 29 for Writing. The ACE method was really a gold advice
hey Shaurya! I saw your video 2 hours before my TOEFL exam without any prior preparation. All of the tips given by you were really helpful. I got my result today and I scored 113/120!! Thanks a lot and do keep sharing such helpful info!! It will most certainly help others as well
speaking rate - how many words per minute. sustained speech - keep speaking - 45 seconds repetitions - no fillers vocabulary depth - command and grasp of what you are saying *use formal structure "I believe __ bc of these reasons:..." *practice, talk in front of camera *writing notes - doodle (lol) *write something that you tend to forget welp. will listen again once done working lol
Extraordinarily brilliant shaurya, when english is not primary language for non americans, your videos are teaching what they couldn't learn from their medium of instruction. Thanks alot, keep posting.
Alsooo, one video suggestion : I have read a lot about students being financially independent in certain aspects of their life. What’s your take on that, and how are you applying it in your life, if you try to implement/practice financial independence (partly) in your life?
I'm definitely working towards being financially independent (Yt, Sleep Deprived Dreamers, Investing). But I'm definitely just getting started, I will definitely feel comfortable enough to discuss this 2-3 years down the line! Maybe by the time I turn 21.
@@ShauryaSinha omg omg omg the legendary Shaurya Sinha itself replied to my comment! I’m fine either way, but I guess you should keep it in English since it would be easier for non Indians as well.
06:04 - "-phile is a Latin root." It's not Latin, it's Greek. In Greek, "φίλος" (philos) means "friend," and when used as a suffix (-φιλος, -philos), it means "someone who is fond of, has affection/love for" whatever precedes this ending. The English ending "-phile" comes from this Greek term, meaning "he who has an affection for." Of course, I'm not about to lecture to someone who speaks a daughter language of Sanskrit. This is more along the lines of providing a general piece of info to whomever may be interested. Peace & love. 👍🏻
Your video helped me alot in increasing my reading n listening section scores... In my 1st attempt I scored 19 in reading and 22 in listening....But after following your tips, I managed to score 23 in reading and 25 in listening...Thank you so much😇😇...Whenever my friends ask for TOEFL tips, I suggest them to watch this video...
first of all: thank you!!! second: I instantly went on eBay and purchased the book you showed in the video and third: I immediately dropped a subscription! Keep up the good work😊
Shauryaa need some more videos on Founding a start up....like how to get the capital...and how do you register a company basically the legal side of it.....Would be really helpful. P.S-30% Gang where ya at❤
I found that doodling idea pretty effective. I didn't use it for TOEFL as I haven't given it yet but I used it In my ASL for boards and it worked well.
Hey mate, could you make a video on how to apply to a university and what to do when we apply to multiple universities, like what to do when they all ask to write an essay and all that
My exam is on Saturday and I am the worst reader. I hate to read these boring passages. My score depends on my mood and the distraction amount in the hall. You’re the first person who suggested to read the whole passage. I agree. Those whose 1st language is not English, must not skip.
Dude. Love your energy. How soo genuinely you were like, 'How did the brightness increase?' and talking in hindi and not even like editing it out. I think you had a train to catch, but also wanted to make sure we got to learn everything you wanted to teach. Atleast that was how I felt. But overall, noice!
Shaurya How do ou deliver the lines you say in the video? 1. Read out of a script entirely? 2. Create an outline and talk ABT it? 3. Just say what you wanna say?
Helloooo, for this video I researched around 4-6 hours, re-did all practice tests to remember what I did right, and went through the entire TOEFL book again. In general though, I usually make a script with an outline and then just say what I wanna say - making sure it's accurate, concise, and helpful :)
Dude your communication skills are so precise and fantabulous 😊👍🏻 but literally i m demoralised.. cuz i dnt know how, when my skills gonna be better so that i can also pass the toefl.... 😅😔
I got a 108 with two days of preparation and if I didn't have anxiety and would literally tremble whenever I have to demonstrate a skill or generally being around strangers I would have gotten a 120. But I only need 80 anyways
@Milano Yes I am :) I went to Keio University. Depends on where or what you want to study but I personally had a great experience. Japan is still behind diversity but the international students at my university enjoyed their experience.
Bro could you please make a video on how to do bachelor's + master's in 4 years like Harnoor(Singh from USA) he never really told about this in his videos so I'm counting on you for that, It's a huge request🙏
wow, thanks for your suggestions! just one suggestion: can you list out what you've said beside your cameras. (I mean, use part of your screen to show your face, and the other part to list what you've said. Assertion+explanations) Anyway, your video is very helpful
