i got a U in yr12 cuz i wasn't serious about biology now yr 13 stressing me out, I don't know how I will get a B. I'm constantly revising now but when I do exam questions I keep getting them wrong and it just demotivates me.
It can definitely be demotivating when you get questions wrong, you still have a lot of time so make sure to be consistent with your work. I would recommend blurting and flashcards to ensure the knowledge is consolidated and that will help in answering questions. Also note down what you get wrong so that you can get it right next time that helped me a lot when preparing for my exams, good luck in your exams!💪🏼☺️
Jazakallah khair for the notes they are so so useful may Allah reward you endlessley honestly and make things easy for you just as you have made things easy for me!! xxxxx
Omg, I am so happy to find your channel please upload more videos about Biology because it's my major and this is my first year I will be starting soon and am really nervous.
Hi !! amazing video :) I am going to resit biology this year and got a B ( 5 marks from an A) do you think it would be possible to get an A* with 7 months of studying ?
My friend got a D for her AS biology exam (in Wales we still have those) and she resat it alongside her A2 exams in year 13 and came out with an A* overall. It's 100% possibly but you really have to put in the work and time. She was more stressed than the rest of us but she did I by adjusting her studying; I'm pretty sure she gave up note-taking and just did space repetition and active recall.
Hey Sue, I'm retaking bio too, as I got a B aswell. I'm kinda struggling so if u don't mind can I have ur insta so we help each other out maybe if u want obvs
I’m in year 11. On my gcse mocks from March i got a grade 2 in biology. I do foundation and i revised even though i feel demotivated all the time. I tried to aim for a grade 4 and i tried my best so i can do higher tier instead and switch from Btec to A levels but now it’s too late:( I was planning on trying to do higher tier for maths and science so i can do Biology, psychology, drama and maths for A levels but my grades are too low. But i already did my gcses and tbh they weren’t hard as much as the mocks were. InshaAllah i pass.
@@izzyy.930 unfortunately i only passed English language and literature i got a 4 in both of that subject. however i failed everything else. on maths i got a 2, science i got a 32, geography i got a 2, art i got a 3, Religious studies i got a 3 and Spanish i got a 3. i passed my gcse English speaking exam and my Spanish listening and speaking exam. idk what job i can do now. my dad shouted at me for failing. i can only re sit maths but nothing else, my college won’t allow me to re sit science.
@@de_me_in_hasty2303 idk what job to do since i have bad gcse results. plus if i get student load when the bank gives me an allowance if i want to go to university, i have to pay them back and that’s expensive. my sister told me it’s harder to get a job if you do an apprenticeship instead of going to uni
Bruv get an apprenticeship level 2, and work your way upwards your comment is from a year ago so if you did want to do an apprenticeship, level 3 might be better. Reply to my comment and I'll tell you more about it if you want @@honitahussain5029
@@speedytiles2132 They’re based on the AQA specification so I’d recommend you fact check them as I’m not sure about the international A level specification
so ive this idea , im not much or a write and remeber person , so apart from school lecture and teachers notes , if i go through book and memorize your notes and then taste myself based on the notes . and do practice questions will it be enough ( starting alevels )
I’d say mostly yes it would cover most of the content, but I’d recommend you have the specifications at the side so that you ensure everything is covered :))
As Salamu Alaykum Sis😊 Gotta do these things for Allah JazakAllah Khair However keep in mind watch out for the music as it is haram. We must keep our deen outside of Salah Quran Dhikr dua etc too.
thank you soo much for this video!!! Do you have any videos or tips on how to condense notes? I feel like whenever I write my own notes they turn out to be regurgitations of the textbook even though I try to reword information xx thank you sm again!!
@@jjchen5143 youre welcome!! I quite liked Amy Wang’s video on note taking and Fayefilms, they both have really nice tips on how to take good time efficient notes :))
@@jjchen5143 i’d also recommend you use the specification as a guideline and then write any extra information under each point in the specification - this can help in making sure you only make notes of whats imporant
hii, I just wanted to ask- I've did some topic tests on bio so like on the core concepts and I did pretty well on them however when it comes to the tests that teachers give it's more application of knowledge rather than full on theory based questions so my question is how do you tackle application questions? Because sometimes the can be so difficult and I have no clue Wats going on😭
Yeah I get you the thing that makes biology hard is the application questions - my tip would be first of all to make sure that you are doing as many application questions as possible so you expose yourself to the different types of questions. Second, try to understand the terminology of the questions, for example words such as “suggest”, “define”, “explore”, “evaluate” etc., (revision world has a nice page on exam technique). Finally make sure to focus on the mark scheme and any recurring statements that come up in certain types of questions, this will help you a LOT in knowing what to say, for e.g., in questions about evaluating certain trials on mice and the effectiveness of the “drug” that is being tested, “the drug has not been tested on humans” is almost always a point, as basic as it sounds. Good luck in your exams!😊💪🏼
thank you so much for the video again!! Would it be possible to elaborate on what you mean by focusing on the mark scheme; is it focusing on the wording or ... etc.?
@@jjchen5143 you’re welcome!! ;) yes sure I mean focusing on the wording yup and keeping in mind keywords that pop up often in a definition for example. The mark schemes for bio are really silly because even if you paraphrase a key word if you don’t say it you’ll lose the mark so it helps to be aware of what the important phrases to say are (most questions repeat so you’ll get a good idea of whats important when you do a lot of practice qs)
During class my teachers are always saying by learning the text book you can only get a B and we have to go listen to lectures podcasts ext for an a* I’m still rather confused of how this is useful for the exam when I barley have time for normal revision let alone listening to whole podcasts??
Im not sure if maybe different boards have different requirements but I would suggest reading the specification clearly and seeing what exactly you have to do. For me I just used the textbook and the specification. It might be that theyre referring to the essay, if you are doing AQA, where there are a couple of marks that need extra knowledge outside of the spec, but you can still get an A* if you do not mention anything. Good luck!😊
Hi! so, I've already started taking notes from the AQA textbook + practise questions, so i was just wondering if taking notes from the textbook (and then doing questions) is equally as good as the note resources you used for bio/chem?
For Biology I took notes from the textbook and that was mainly what I did, I only used the note resources when I was struggling to understand the textbook and wanted different wording - for chemistry though I mainly used chemrevise as it had all the notes and only wrote notes when I needed to memorise stuff. I would say experiment a bit and find the best way that suits you, Good luck!😊
JazakAllah khair for all the help🥹💗 As an extremely stressed out A level student who has her cies coming up, these were so helpful for me🤌 your chem video really helped me out too! Thanks for the video, im so grateful for these incredibly useful sources, these are veryyyy helpful😭🤝
I have my exams in10 days. I feel like ik the content but when i do pastpapers i am boank. I never made notes or flashcards. Now i am just stuck and idk what to do. I dont know how to study. Its so overwhelming. Everyone just seems to talk about do past papers do notes do that. But idek the concept. How do i meemorise? How do i not go blank when questions come up infront of me.
Okay its quite a tricky situation that you can learn from for next time; but for now I’d say have a look at the specification and focus on memorising it and writing it down, + link it to the mark scheme when certain questions come up and focus on the high yield content and key words. You’ll have to do many past papers and see what content comes up often and write it down. It’ll need a lot of work but is doable as long as you focus and organise yourself by topics each day
Its never too late! 3 months is enough to start reviewing the content and practicing to make sure you get a good grade! Start out with writing out a schedule on how / when you’ll cover the different topics and then it should be fine, good luck!
Salam, if you don't mind me asking which textbook did you use to get the notion notes from? Was it a a CGP revision guide as i've heard nearly everyone uses them
Salam, I used the main Biology AQA textbook to make my notion notes. I haven’t used the CGP books personally for A levels, but yeah I’ve heard they’re quite good
Heya sorry for the late reply! I defo had some moments where I’d get lower grades in some quizzes / mocks, and that’s completely natural. But the most important thing is to learn from those and focus on how to prevent it from happening next time :)
By its time !! Actually tomorrow is my biology exam and im not motivated at all bcz of the so much stress that our hight school put us at.. but hopefully after this video my brain will know that the paper of the exam will be in front of me within 24 hrs 😢
@@luluhalim it's MarkSheet....can we get grade equalence certificate with % of marks because in Indian colleges they ask equalence certificate they don't accept grade
Hi Lulu! You genuinely inspire me to work hard and aim for a high score on my A levels. Could you please do a video on how you scored an A* on your Arabic A level, it really would help. LYSMM
Hi thank you for your kind words!!😊 I actually didn’t do arabic A level haha I just did the GCSE and that was mainly cause I grew up speaking arabic :)) wish you all the best!
@@luluhalim aww thank you for taking your time to reply to my comment, means a lot to me 💖. Would really love to see more study tip videos and methods from you. Keep pushing, your half way there 💗
thank you so much but i want to ask whether i can write answers in my own words and giving the same meaning as the marking scheme it should be exactly the same with the same vocabs
Heya as long as you include the key words that are mentioned in the mark scheme then it should be fine! Usually the mark scheme specifies what exactly you get a mark for so I’d say use that as a reference
Assalamualikum sisterr! its so nice to see a fellow sister explaining a level stuff :) I just want to say i am done with my igcse and im a month away from entering yr 12 or AS level soo i wanted to ask can i use your aqa biology notes for caie as level too? im sorry im just really confused about the exam boards. p.s im sorry if i made any mistakes english isnt my first language! :)
Walaikum assalam, Congratulations! I’m not sure if it’d have the content you need, I’d suggest looking at the caie a level board specification and maybe comparing it to the AQA and seeing if they match to make sure you’re not missing any content
This is so helpful tysmmm💗 Is is it enough to undertand the textbook and study your notes in addition to solving pastpapers? also what about the practical exam do you have tips for that? again tysm جزاك الله خير💗
Yes That’s enough! Make sure that you’re reviewing the information you’re getting wrong in past papers + understanding the mark scheme. For the practical exam I mainly did mind maps really and blurting + the occasional essay practice at school so focusing on that would be helpful. Wa iyaki💕☺️
The number under priority is for a levels in 2023 where the boards gave us list of the topics that would come up, And the once check box is for whether i did the first review on it or not?
I used Notion for revision notes, tbh I didn’t really take notes during class, I would usually just open the textbook and make my revision notes from it and then brush up on them after I come home. Sometimes I would write up some important bits if they related to content in my exam etc.,
Assalam o Alaikum sister! I'm in Yr 12 and here a little too late, I have mocks for Biology in 7 days and I don't know anything. I don't know where to start and I keep beating myself up for losing months of time. I know it's because I am very sick and in and out of hospital. Right now I'm at a C/B and I'm not sure how I can achieve an A* in 7 days. My teacher has belief that I can do it, and I don't want to let her down.
Wa alaikum assalam! It must be quite hard to deal with this, firstly put behind any of the lost time in the past there’s no point dwelling over it now. In terms of studying, there are a few videos on youtube that go through all the content of each paper / topics, I’d recommend Primrose Kitten but there are other yt channels as well! These videos can help in giving a general idea and a summary of those topics. After watching them and making some notes, I’d recommend starting past papers and topic questions and focusing on simply just practicing and practicing. Hopefully it works out and good luck!💪🏻
@@luluhalim thank you so much! I will schedule alot of time to watch these videos and go over content tonight + tomorrow. And will do exam practise for the rest of the week. This might be a silly question but is 7 days really enough for someone to revise thoroughly and get a good grade? Alot of it is just remembering the information again because I've done it before but my brain is still foggy from medications and hospital trauma. It makes everything so much worse 😭 especially because I don't want to break the trust of my teachers who say that I can achieve an A*
Heya, I wouldn’t recommend that at all! Make sure you completely relax and have fun this summer, and then you can start during year 12. There would be no point starting because two years is enough to cover a level bio and you have the summer of year 12 as well. Enjoy your summer!
