Hey Amber, Thanks for the great content. What about non-natives? I am a teacher with +8 years of experience, a BA and MA in Teaching English, and a CELTA. Which companies do you think I should apply to? I see that most job offers ask for Natives. Thanks a lot!
Hello, I’m not too sure about this since I’ve only applied as a native English speaker but I l’ve heard that Gabba is open to non-native foreign English teachers. (Not sure if it’s true though but def check it out!) Unfortunately I’ve also heard that they’re not a good company to work for but maybe a good foot in the door into Japan?
Hi Amber. Really enjoying your videos, and thank you for the advice! I do have one question on applications which I haven’t seen answered elsewhere. How long should my cover letter/essay be? The websites don’t make this clear and I don’t want to under/over do it. Thanks again, and keep up the good work with your videos!
Unfortunately it’s only true if you’re already on a student or spousal visa, to receive the working visa required to teach at a language school a bachelor’s degree is required or 5 years provable teaching experience, however that 5 years is extremely difficult to prove so most companies will not hire someone without a bachelor’s degree because of the visa thing.
Sorry for the crazyyy late answer but I'm just seeing this comment! I believe the JET program you can bring your family, I don't think many others allow this hough:/
Unfortunately to be granted a working visa in Japan a college degree is required unless you can prove you have 5 years experience in your field, but that’s generally hard to prove so most companies won’t hire without a degree
