Thank you Coach Nell! It's exactly what happen to me after my 3rd baby ....20years ago... Pilates save me! I came back to shape with Pilates....now I'm Pilates Trainer!
Hello Coach Kel, I am a fellow trainer from the UK. Just had your video come to my feed. I work with both men and women with DR and your explanations and demonstrations are very clear particularly noting that DR can be addressed years after it occured. Thank you for your video and hard work.
I really want you to know how extremely grateful I am for this video. I had really strong abs as a teen and early 20-something. I’d even gotten back into shape after my two kids...then I hurt my shoulders and neck and had mono for MONTHS - all of my muscle disappeared and my overall body balance was thrown off to an extreme. It was only a couple of months ago that I found a PT in Australia who mentioned exactly what you’re addressing in this video. Im so grateful to find you’ve talked about this, too, and definitely want to throw it out there that you might want to post another video like this just to address this as a general advisement about getting abs back after illness, injury, or a long time being out of shape in addition to postpartum (long term postpartum that is Lol) so more people can realize what it took me years to discover - that getting back into shape after any illness and injury can be hindered rather than helped by inadequate ab workouts. I’d been trying to go back to my old standards and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working - I’d had such strong abs in the past, even after pregnancy...why wasn’t it working now?? Idk if i just missed the memo on deeper ab muscles because I’d come by mine early in life and never had to do more than crunches to maintain them, but I’ve been struggling to solve this mystery for YEARS - i dont have the money for a personal trainer and even the most well intentioned workout youtubers don’t necessarily know to mention this - i feel like this is likely a mystery for a LOT of people...or I just feel like a dope for not figuring it out earlier...lol anyways either way THANK YOU for this!!
Adorable family!! Love the info,.even though I'm old enough to be your mother! The first part was a wonderful tutorial because thats the basis of pilates, a workout I love and have been incorporating in my workouts!! Wonderful info!! Thank you!
this video was amazing. i love how you explain everything so clearly, and use actual anatomy to explain. also kudos for actually using the word vagina lol. i do have a question tho - how do you breathe when your core is engaged? i tend to breathe from my chest instead of my stomach, or hold my breath, so i was wondering if you have any tips for that?
Hi Coach Kel, u r my favorite coach. My 2nd son is 4 years old. I have to get umbilical hernia operation next year. I've to decide whether I should go for a mesh or non-mesh operation. Can I do these exercises with a mesh in my abs? Pls let me know. I want to strengthen my core after the operation and follow your workouts. Thanks
That first exercise she explained is EVERYTHING. You don't just have to have D.I. So many people can't do this and when they do sit up or abs exercises they push out verse synching in. If you can master that you appear smaller cause you pull everything in. I try to practice daily cause it's so important.
Same here!!! I totally agree! Also, Coach Kel is awesome at demonstrating this and then explaining this step by step. I was just unsure exactly when to breathe during the first exercise with the 4 points. Thanks, Coach Kel!!!
Thank you Coach Kel! I got my body back in great, strong shape after my first baby, but the second time just hit different. I have a pooch and I can’t stand it. I am obsessed with how helpful you are with these exercises and my core (front & back) thanks you. Love all your videos 💗
Amazing! Exactly what I needed, thank you so much. Another video request, you have such an amazing body post 3 kids - do you have any anti cellulite tips or experiences? I really struggle with cellulite and I'm only 23.
Thank you for sharing! I’m in my mid twenties and do not have children or plan on having them any time soon, but I really need to improve my core strength. I don’t typically like abs workouts but I have some of yours lined up to do in the coming months (this month I’m doing Ballet Body 1&2 and the newer mat sculpt routine) so hopefully incorporating the exercises from this video into my rotation will help me get more out of the short abs sets I’m currently doing + help prepare me for the ones on your website. And then if I ever do have a baby I’ll hopefully be in better shape from the start. Thanks again! ❤️
Thank you so much for this insightful video! I am one of the moms who had babies years ago but I see that this is just what I need! Thank you so much for making the workouts seem so doable. Great job coach!
The 8 who push 👎 they cant stand the envy about her fit tummy mom. Understand women its the ballet since years she has gotten. Thanks for ur teaching dear profesor.
Wow. Thank you. Omg. Thank you. I’m speechless. You explain how to do this perfectly I could never find a video that explained it so good!! Thank you so much.
VIDEO REQUEST: please do a video for pregnant women. Eg; 1, exercises to focus on 2. exercises to avoid 3. your experience and personal exercise choices I feel there is so much we don't know as women about risks of the first and third trimesters. ** Coach Kel ** - your embodiment of what you teach is the reason why I follow you. thank you for all inspiration.
This was fantastic!!! My kid is 16, but I feel I lost a ton of core strength when I ended up in the hospital for a week with pneumonia. I was bed ridden for a month. I was never able to get my core back. This is great! I already feel it working!!!
Yes!!! I feel like this is a huge mystery for a LOT of people. I had shoulder injuries and undiagnosed mono for months - my muscles disappeared completely. I couldn’t figure out why my usual exercises weren’t working - now I know but it took such a long time to figure it out
This might be the best video I've ever seen for engaging your core muscles for diastasis recti! Thank you! I have 4 kids and after my 4th I went to physical therapy for diastasis recti and it has healed pretty well. But I will be doing these exactly how you did it. Super helpful 👍 thank you!
I have 3 fingers Gap and 37 inches are my hip size. Before pregnancy I was 32 inches. How many months will it take to reduce my size when I doing these exercises?
Very good material! As a certified pilates instructor I would just like to remind that diastasis recti will develop with almost all normal pregancies and during the pregnancy this is NORMAL and should happen! The issue occurs if the diastasis recti will not heal over the postpartum months. But good to keep in mind that this process is as individual as are the pregnancies. I.e. for certain individuals this healing process can take longer despite the (proper) exercises.
Great tip for lifting the chest (which I find really difficult without overusing my traps and neck) - push down into the ground with your heels and use that push down to length your whole body heel to head - like pushing into your heels presses your head up towards the sky
Coach Kel, excellent instruction, my kids are grown now, but I've neglected my abs for a while now and searched endlessly trying to find a way to reconnect my abs in a slow, but effective approach and I found YOU. Thank you for sharing!
I don’t feel a separation when I check for it, but anytime I do sit-ups or crunches, on the floor, the next day I bulge out for a few days. I’ve been doing the exercises you show in this video-for awhile. How do I know when my belly os strong enough? Or should I avoid crunches forever?
I think you might need to. Heck with your physician on this one my friend ❤️ I can’t really tell without seeing you in person and wouldn’t want to offer you the wrong advice.
It’s definitely not too late!!! You can 100% still do these exercises and see results even years after having a baby. Best of luck to you my friend! Keep me posted on how it’s going!
I stumbled upon this and so thankful I did. I have had 4 kids and although I work out a ton I have that dome tummy problem. I’ve looked for solutions online but every “answer” required a subscription or payment to be revealed. Thank you Thank you Coach Kel. I’m going to start on these exercises immediately and I’m so excited to eventually see a difference in my core.
Thank you so much! This was excellent. I am 15 weeks pregnant with my tenth baby and have severe diastasis recti. Should I just focus on the kegal exercise while pregnant or should I attempt to incorporate the deep core strengthening or any of the additional floor exercises. What timing would you suggest? Thanks so much...I'm so happy to have found your channel🌻
Congratulations on Baby 10! That’s fantastic 😁 we have 8 and I’ve had diastasis recti after the 5th and subsequent children. You should probably check with your doctor since you’re currently pregnant, he/she will know your case the best. Keep on keepin’ on, mama! You rock!
