Our supervisor was ill for the start of the year so we started out EPQ considerably late. Watching this made feel like all hope isn't lost yet, just got to cram in an EPQ in just under 2 months haha!
Needed to come back to this video and say a massive thank you! I got an A* today and I couldn’t be happier (never achieved that high in my life!) and that is down to you… thank you for the hard work because it made mine pay off (also well done on your results today!! They are amazing 😁) Xx
I found that the EPQ can be really useful for UCAS applications eg Personal statements, I got 46/50 marks I think but in the end i can say I did really enjoy it!!but if anyone is going to do it *PLAN* or you will regret it 😂😭
@@juanmoliner6667 any chance you could do a video on it? or do you think what jake covered is all you really need to know? Also just found your channel via this comment and subbed!!
@@MissJazzyJamz I think my advice would differ slightly to what Jake said as I imagine I covered an entirely different topic and I took a slightly different approach in terms of preparation so I will definitely make a video about it especially since we are in lockdown and I have more time. also thank you for the sub il do my best to do the video asap ❤️
this video is really helpful! I have started my EPQ and have been gathering research and didn't know how to organise it or where to go next. a Gantt chart is amazing and I hadn't thought about using one for my EPQ. thank you so much :))
this is super helpful - i’m currently trying to do the EPQ online and have been falling behind a little so i’m trying to catch up. thank you - subscribed ! :-)
This video, and your documents, made me seriously reconsider how to approach my EPQ and how much you need to develop your production log. this video has given me an extra boost of confidence now that i have a more clear understanding on what i now have to do at my stage of the EPQ journey. :D
I just got my internal grade and received my result. Got 45/50 which is an A*! Your videos on the EPQ and advice on time management has helped a lot, Thanks for your help!
Literally watching this while finishing my EPQ logbook! Left my EPQ really late (I'm in U6 and only just finishing it now - but i'm a busy person )and this is super helpful for finishing it off! So bizarre though that my original title was lucid dreaming as well but then ended up completely changing it
@@JakeClarke Yeah neither that's why I thought to comment! I ended up going with essentially how recidivism rates are influenced across Norway, the UK and the USA because I want to study psychology at uni and had a passion for criminal psychology :)
It's pretty fun once you choose a topic you like, one of my issues was being a person who doesn't like to plan, but I think I got a good final essay in the end and am just about to do my presentation and hand it in. Wish me luck and I wish everyone taking one as well good luck
I started my EPQ a few weeks ago. It’s due next Monday. I only started then because I wasn’t originally part of it. I didn’t even know my college did it. I just needed the marks. I’ll return here and let you know what I got.
we are forced to do ipq and we havent even been giving a log book and no support but they expect us to finish the draft by january when we come back from school im stressed out
I have my presentation this week, I did it with my art history course with art for everyone, a course I do outside of my school alevles for state school pupils and I am looking around to see what needs to be included and what has done well in the presentations etc.
Thank you so much I already started a few months ago and I had a chosen topic and subtopic but I was struggling with writing the log and what online resources I could use.
Do you have any tips on being critical and analytical? Because after my first draft I was advised to be less narrative and descriptive. My supervisor told me that I need to develop a line of argument which I struggled to do. Thanks!
Hi Jake, firstly, thanks for the great video! Secondly, would you recommend doing an EPQ with 4 a levels (same 4 as yours), because at the moment it feels like a lot of work, but I'm not sure if it will be worth it in the enD
I've just been promoted to a levels and I've literally never heard of an epq before(I'm from a 3rd world country). Could someone please provide a bit more guidance on this project, what it consists of, and how I'm supposed to carry out this project?
I’m struggling to find sources on my topic which is to what extent should we prioritise the preservation of life over morality ? Any wats I can find sources for this ?
@@renebetek9241 thanks for the help I found this search engine JSTOR yesterday and it has over 50,000 journals, books and articles about my research it has literally saved me. You can use it for any topic
I have recently just started my epq I am looking at a sports topic and currently thinking about should contact sports be banned within schools but I don’t know whether this is a good idea
I have to decide whether to do an EPQ in 3 weeks and I dont know what I would do it on!!!!😕 I am doing Economics and it would probably be on an area in it but I dont know.
That’s ages to think :) and remember you don’t have to confirm the topic until a few weeks in and can change it whenever. Could start with general economics
@@ruqz03 you can literally change the entire direction of your epq three months in and be fine. Of course try not to do this too much because time is of the essence.
hey jake! i'm in yr10 at the moment which means im doing my GCSE's next year. i chose triple science, higher maths, cooking, drama, french and geography. out of all of them, i struggle with English Lang the most. i'm doing the AQA board. I have started to read every night now but have you got any recommendations? I REALLY want to get a 7 or 8 in English. Thank you so much :)) wish you all the best x
The best thing to do for English language is to read a wide variety of non fiction and fiction books and practise analysing them, looking for various structural and language devices. Also practise your creative writing and non creative writing by just writing your own articles and stories on various topics and themes. Doing all this I got a grade 9
Hi Jake, I really appreciate your video. I have a question, I had a look at your chart, you started in the first semester and you finished it in the second semester, Am I right? Because my school they let us do EPQ since year 12, which I quite confuse because they give us 5 semester to do it but you just finished it in 2 semesters.
hey, I know this is kind of a late reply but this was really helpful! How did you find the topic of Lucid Dreaming? I'd like to do something like this so its more enjoyable but nothing springs to mind when I think about what interests me. If you have any other tips on ideas like yours please let me know. Thanks.
No worries ahahahah, yeah I honestly loved it as it gave me an actual reason to practice it 😂 Honestly I’d just pick something you think sounds interesting and run with it. Could be learning a new skill and seeing it’s practicalities or just a theoretical idea that’s cool
@@JakeClarke Thank you, I've made my Gantt chart already and I've scheduled time to actually research some theoretical ideas to find one I'm interested in. Btw your videos are so helpful and motivating thanks for making some beneficial content! :)
