Hi! I'm not Lee, but I do have an answer for you. Yes, officers can catch it. PLEASE don't have someone write it for you. PLEASE. Colleges can revoke degrees if they caught you even after you were admitted. It's not a bad idea to get outside help but please don't have someone else write it. You still have to write supplemental essays for each school and if the quality of those doesn't match the quality of your common app essay then it isn't going to work out for you. Don't hesitate for help but PLEASE don't have someone write it for you.
