People like you get waitlisted to safeties since the safeties schools think that you won’t go to there school because of how good your application is. You have a freakin 35 act, 1500 SAT and was Valedictorian. Congrats on Brown tho!! 🥳🥳
I believe there are two types of Waitlisteds. The first kind are "regular" Waitlisteds who are the students that the college feels could be admitted and could succeed at the college but they don't meet a current "need" of the college (e.g. the proverbial oboe player needed for the orchestra). The second kind are "overqualified" students whom the college would love to have but are worried will turn down an Acceptance which would hurt the college's Yield, the percentage of Admitted students who actually end up attending. So the overqualified are Waitlisted as Yield Protection. I believe "Tufts Syndrome" was used in earlier times to refer to Yield Protection by Rejection; these days, Waitlisting is MUCH more popular among colleges--to the point of being silly. "Silly" because the college KNOWS there will never be an offer of admission to the 10,000th person on the Waitlist, but they do it because Waitlisting is so much easier for both sides (students and colleges) to live with.
Great video! Can you please make a video about the scholarship programs that you applied for? That would be helpful for me because I am a rising senior.
Thanks for making this video this is so helpful!! I only have 5 aps before senior year and I’ve been stressing about it so much😭😭do you think that will impact me a lot?

For example, If someone that I knew and was very close to my father went to an Ivy League that I would like to go to. Could they recommenced me and if they did, would it increase my chances of getting in?
Shanaya Miskin Id apply anyways because maybe you could get aid-who knows! Also, I’d suggest finding outside scholarships or working at a job maybe too.
For next year the application should open this fall! This summer's sessions got cancelled because of the coronavirus situation, but I am confident they will be able to hold it next summer!
Rosie Aguayo are you going into your senior year? Because usually you do it the summer before your senior year or the summer before your junior year! Because if you do it this summer, it’ll be the summer before college if you are a junior right now going into senior year.
Oh shoot sorry just saw this! In that case you probably won’t be able to:( they usually accept people in the summer before their junior or senior year and the deadline passed
I applied to double major in Biology and History as a premed! Now though, I think I’m going to create my major revolved around Microbiology/Epidemiology as a premed !:)
