I have loved following your journey and am so happy for you! You deserve this so much. My oldest is a preteen girl, and seeing you and your friends who seem to balance fun and maturity so well, I can only hope that she can follow a similar path as she grows up!
As one of the American writers who have followed Emily for years, this impressive lady would be an ideal Disney filter and representative to interact with and foster creatives. Walt is not around, so who is going to do it?…if anyone, Emily.
Thank you for sharing your story. It’s fascinating to see how creatives find the perfect job for them. It’s rare for people to find their passion at a young age and continue to pursue it well into adulthood. You make me hopeful that I’ll eventually find the perfect writing gig.
Emily, your channel came up in suggestions on my feed one day and I watched. Your passion for Disney, musicals, travels drew me in. You're my kids age and watching your vlogs reminds me of all the fun we had at Disney as a family over the years. My husband is unable to travel much due to health issues. We always dreamed of going to England and Europe but it just isn't possible right now. Your travel vlogs let me live vicariously through you. Congratulations on your dream job!!! I hope it becomes permanent 😊
I moved to Florida for my DCP around the same time as you (Spring 2017) and have been watching you for years. After a few years of not knowing what I wanted, I recently rediscovered my love for copywriting and decided that I’d like to return to Disney. It’s so funny that I’m finding you once again. I’m glad everything has worked out for you and I hope you love your new role! ❤
So, so excited for you, Emily!! I am a recent college grad in the writing field as well, so I love hearing about your path and experiences. The combination of Disney and writing is absolutely ideal!! 🙌🏽💖
how did you know to upload this while I am in a career crisis? been following you for years and so proud of you!! thank you for sharing this with us and congratulations!!
Thank you so much for this video! It’s so inspirational. I’m graduating in May with an English degree and the job hunt is so stressful! A follow up video would be great!
Ironically, as soon as I submitted an application to a writing and content creation role for Disney Professional Internships, I opened RU-vid and saw this video!! (I’ll take that as a sign 👀) As a writer, our paths seem to be pretty similar, so I loved hearing about your experience! I’d also love a part two if you decide to make one 💕🫶🏼
Hmm, your copy for the Jellycat croissant suggests it's a good way to say bonjour to French cuisine. That line reminds me of a certain song about a maiden in France who has a rather repetitive life until she goes off to save her father from a certain peril, and succeeds spectacularly. I wonder if that is an example of you making excellent use of your past experiences in a new job role. Also, seemingly a good metaphor for your career so far. There have been challenges, but you have overcome and advanced nicely. Plus, (going back to the toy description) the whole blend of food and toy vocabulary works well. Nicely done.
I graduated from college in 2014 as a professional writer where I had worked as a copywriter, content writer, proofreader etc. for several different companies over the years as a contractor. I always dreamed of one day somehow getting to write for Disney one way or another. When the pandemic hit, I lost my editing job and was forced to work for some really bad jobs. As a produce stocker for giant and now, for the past 2 years, as an assembler at a large company just to get by. My goal is to come up with a blog and focus on the importance of storytelling and its many forms while hoping to her published someday. But I keep struggling with the dream and with my mental health when the bad thoughts say it's not possible. I'll be 31 this year. Is this strategy a good one for trying to recruited by Disney? Thanks. Also, congrats on landing your dream job. I can't imagine how rewarding that must feel.
Ah wow! The ups and downs were absolutely worth it and it’s amazing to see you living your best life in your dream role 🥰 I was accepted onto the ICP in 2020 (which obviously got cancelled because of covid). Then the 2021 programme got cancelled… And then I was a graduate, and not eligible to apply again because #visas. That said I’m making it my goal to work for Disney in a corporate capacity instead (in PR rather than copywriting though!) I’m essentially posting this comment as a form of manifestation 😅
Achieving your dream at 26, what is there to do? Do as dreamers do and come up with dream part two! Your climb to Josh D'Amaro's job is one step closer.
I actually do have a question… When you were blogging about Disney during school, what platform did you use? I’m having trouble deciding on one myself.
wooo a fellow UON alum 🥳🫶 I’ll soon be starting my first ‘big girl’ job in social media where I hope I’ll be sharpening up my copywriting skills! So cool to know I can use these skills in the Entertainment industry!
