Driving in winter conditions on snow and ice is very different from what people from warmer climates have learned to do. It is not a very sound idea to drive just because you have licence. One has to understand, very different driving conditions require different skills and understanding. It is unfortunately common to hear about situations where foreing travelers have ended in trouble in driving in conditions that they didn't have prior understanding about. New immigrants have this risk too, if they don't take these challenges seriously. Modern cars have systems than make driving on slipery conditions much easier, but they can't change laws of physics.
I took a look of what kind of advice is available for foreigner planning to drive in India. Some things make me wonder. "Seatbelts must be worn in cities by law, but the use of seatbelts is only advised elsewhere." So the idea here must be that you suffer less and are less troublesome, if you die immediately in a higher speed accident and therefore don't require hospital or medical services?

How easy is it for a Indian driver to drive on the right side and different driving conditions? In my childhood Sweden was still driving on the left, but they switched to right a long time ago. The amount of car traffic was smaller then, so the change was easier. Many Finn's, me included, have got a taste of how difficult driving in different side can be in the UK. Traffic in London, driving on "wrong side" and unfamiliar car, was challenging, especially before the time of electronic navigators. Humans are very adaptable, especially if they are skilful persons. Those that I know and have stayed longer in UK, all have got used to driving on left in some months. UK weather is fairly easy compared to Nordic countries, so it doesn't have similarly challenging driving conditions. Not so difficult in my opinion!!Certainly can take some time to understand initially & is individual based!!Driving in my opinion involves skills , sense & offcourse practice!!But driving in India is quiet different from what is in Finland( even if we forget right & left side) some people do not obey traffic rules & either end up on accidents or pay fine!!
@@KabiraKhanna my personal view is in that sense skewed that I learned to drive about 46 years ago. Roads and cars where much different. It was late autumn, roads icy and used a truck without spikes or any assisting technology. So I had to learn manage icy and snow covered conditions without ABS or other nowadays common systems like good headlights. Roads where narrow, two-way, not what we have now. Sometimes it seems that people can't drive any more. If there is some rain in Helsinki region, immediately you see how traffic is effected. Each winter we see how some people demonstrate that they can't drive taking in consideration what the weather demands from them. People from Northern Finland laugh at city dwellers who end in trouble in Lapland, but also even in Helsinki.
@@KabiraKhanna how and where did you learn and practice driving in slippery and snow covered roads? It is definitely something basically fairly simple, but the challenging part is that in addition to consciously made right decision you also need automatic reflexes, or else your reaction time is too slow. It is a bit like the playing badminton or table tennis, where you can be fast enough only by developing automatic reflexes.
