How I got my Philodendron prince of orange to be huge

In this video I dive into one of my largest leaf philodendron. My now kinda massive prince of orange.
This awesome aroid gets beautiful orange leaves that fade down to green as they mature.
I had to recently repot it into lechuza pon as it decided to "faint" from its spot so I was worrying it was going to snap.

Lovely plant and fantastic video, subscribing immediately! My mother got me a Prince of Orange 3.5 years ago as a tiny plug plant in a 2 inch pot, and I just recently potted him into a 6 inch. He's one of my favorite plants in my collection! His leaves used to start off bright orange, but now that he's grown they start more reddish, then go through orange and brownish before turning green. I use standard potting soil with a lot of perlite mixed in, and I definitely tend to underwater rather than overwater.

What humidity level do you keep yours at? I recently acquired one that really liked like it's abbreviation lol POO it had one leaf with a few nodes on top that lost their leaves and at the very tip it pushed out the leaf it was working on when I got it and now it pushed out another leaf! But it still looks kinda sickly do you have any tips? I live in Wisconsin so my weather is very similar to the UK I think

this plant is my nemesis and i have grown and tamed a lot of plants, it grows has great leaves but it just grows crooked leaning in every direction i dont support with a pole whenever it can.. its nearly in a prison surrounded by poles now but still... looks like an old oak after 2 world wars, 20 hurricans and 3 cars crashing into it

These are my absolute fave in my collection so far! Just adore the orange! Mine is growing well but now seeing yours I will try a support to encourage it!

I wonder how that bad boy would fair on a short, stocky moss pole?

Maybe use a large moss pole - they do like to climb! Gorgeous plant!! I have a small one and the new orange leaves are just beautiful! It loves the grow light I currently have it under - winter in Canada! Lol. 😀😀👍

Thank you for this lovely video. Please can I ask...you have her in Pon, do you put her pot in a larger cache pot with a water reservoir? I'm new to Pon and still learning. Thank you 🙏

Impressive! Those leaves look to be about the size and shape of my indoor banana plants. Do you have banana plants? Mine are Dwarf Cavendish.

Hiya! If I wanted me self-heading philodendrons to not grow quite as large as yours, could I prune the roots to keep it smaller?

I have a question. If you cut the stem near one of the nodes at the top, would it make the the plant grow nodes beneath the cut? And maybe even encourage growth to push up from the roots??

same. My prince puts out new leaves (VERY SMALL ONES) yet it is not rooted well at all. I could pull it up out of the soil if i wanted to. I think I should give it a more chunky mix.

Small observation. You keep saying, "you might be able to see..." as you hold the plant up directly in front of the camera. Unless this is braille RU-vid we CAN see it. 😉

that's a Mccolly's finale i think, not the orange hamlet :)

I think that's a McColley's Finale not a Prince of Orange.

This is McColleys finale. The difference so between this abd POO are leaf shape and color

The McColley's finale is slightly frustrating I work at a nursery one of the biggest in my part of my country and its one in my coworkers and my collection we can never get to grow
