Hey guys! Finally got around to doing a breakdown of the guitar tones I used on "Coco" Watch the full play-through for Coco here - • Charlie Robbins - "Co... Free presets - www.charlierob... #archetypeplini #prog #charlierobbins
Never heard you speak heard just a little of your material and I must say this video was very good. You speak very well and your playing is beautiful. New fan
Ha, at first I wanted to congratulate on your mature vibrato, as this video has only 250 views right now and I wanted to encourage you. Then I realized that I listened to your channel backlog some months ago already. You are a great player!
Bought this last week. I'm so in love with the plug in, it's perfect. Any Plini fan will be crazy happy with it. Also, your playing is incredible man. You also speak very well so I'm subbing for sure
I'm glad to hear you explain the compressor. I never understood why it clips like that. Given that I don't want my compression to add any dirt, seems an easy fix now. Thanks!
Just downloaded the trial. I really dig guys like Plini and Aaron Marshall. I grew up in the 80's and 90's so getting used to their style has been a learning experience. I was really into Eddie Van Halen, Vai, Satriani and Randy Rhoads. Breaking out of those mind sets has been a learning experience, definitely.
Dude hell yes I just got mad chills at the end of that vid. Thats a lick you played on your IG years ago and it was always my favorite, was not expecting that!!
@@CharlieRobbins yeah man I just got done downloading it so I can have an ambient lead section when I record... And from the sound you were getting from it, I didn't feel the need to demo with! Thx..
I was looking for videos of how real artists use Plini, as opposed to reviews from people who could've been paid to promote it, and I found yours. Thank you for breaking it down so clearly :) Just one thing: maybe you might want to EQ the video next time, because I hear a very low but pronounced thud every time your hand touches the desk and it's a bit distracting :)
Hi Charlie! Love your music and just found your “Syncatto” stuff which I’ve been really enjoying! I also really appreciate your guitar lessons by the way...I’ve only been playing for 2 years learning via RU-vid and there aren’t many channels that teach the music I like [Plini, Chon, Sithu Aye, you:)], so the few lessons you gave were a godsend and I really hope you do more of them! I know I’m a bit late on this one but would you be so kind as to share your Archetype Plini presets? I’m also curious which NeuralDSP amp plugin is your favorite. Thanks again and I hope you’re safe and healthy through all the COVID mayhem!
You mentioned that you like the ping pong delay effect, but I noticed that you have plugin switched to the "mono" setting. Isn't ping pong a stereo effect? When should you use mono and when you should you use stereo?
Dan Hoang hey dude! So I’ve always been a fan of there’s no “rules” just guidelines approach. Some of the coolest stuff have come out when someone breaks the rules. In this setting, I always track my guitars mono. If I want a stereo effect I’ll double track and pan them. As for the ping pong, I was thinking the same thing when I was messing around with it, but It still went back and fourth between both speakers. I’m assuming if it was stereo they would possibly go even wider than it does for mono! I’m gonna have to check on that when I get back! :)
Hey man, been enjoying your playing for a while - you’re really developing a unique voice the instrument 👌🏻🙃 I’m a bit out of touch with all this new tech: do you simply plug into an audio interface and that’s your feed ? Any recommendations of good brands for an interface ?
Hey dude! I really appreciate the love. So if you’re trying to get this set up, it’s guitar into interface, into computer! I recommend a scarlet 2i2. But I use a 2i4, not better just a few extra ports on it 🤘🏻
Thanks for the explanation and the video overall. I tried the demo version as you recommended, but I had some errors (most likely on my part). When using this VST in my DAW, my CPU shot up to at least 60%. It would clip harshly when it would work. It also didn’t work when my audio track was set to “in” or “auto.” It worked better as a standalone but still clipped and had some noticeable latency issues. Any idea on what I did wrong? Maybe it was my sample/buffer size?
Kevin Berstler I would mess with the settings a bit if you’re having trouble. Everything on my end worked right away so I didn’t mess with it too much. Also, running other programs might slow your computer down!
Buying my first 7 string in a couple months and want to get a new plugin to compliment it. I currently use the Soldano SLO - 100 plugin. Looking for a plugin with softer tones yet can also crack the sky when distortion/overdrive is applied. Seems link the Plini or Nolly plugins are the way to go.
Awesome stuff Charlie, I [picked this up earlier today after a friend recommended it and this video has definitely given me some food for thought in terms of it applications! Did you mean to have it mono the whole time ? and if so may i ask you why you personally chose to do that ?
Thanks dude! I’m sure you’ll love it! As for the mono. You’ll always play in mono since you’ll be using a single guitar input I’m assuming. However, when I have 2 tracks panned left and right, I’ll switch to stereo. Hope that makes sense!
Great video man! Are you running straight into an interface > DAW? Curious what your output volume on your guitar and interface are! Can't seem to get rid of some unwanted noise when running these plugins - it's driving me nuts!
I do! But since it's recording a dry track that doesn't really mess with things too much for me. However on my Axe-Fx It is a bit tricky. I usually re amp.
hey man is Archetype a guitar app like Guitar Rig??? could you please suggest me great guitar apps for pc because guitar rig isnt quite my liking. please reply, cheers mate
@@CharlieRobbins i know,by the way, love your playing. but a small rack with this sounds, would be enough for me, i dont like to play with plugins, i use the line 6 and for what i hear, the note you show, its perfect
Hi can you help me please? I can´t run Archetype neither as a standalone or as a plugin in Reaper. I tried both 32 and 64 bit. None of them worked. Thanks.
Honestly it would be the same way I got it here. Since it’s formatted like a real amp and chain that’s what I would do. However, ever amp is gonna be different. Also make sure to use a single coil, or split option :)
I find it odd that you have your overdrive before your compressor, as well as the reverb before the delay. Of course there is no truly right or wrong way to run them. As long as you get the sound you're looking for.
@@CharlieRobbins One would think that you could rearrange the order as they're not physical pedals. I'm sure right clicking them might give you a few options. Or even a menu to control that aspect, somehow. Otherwise I don't forsee that plugin being all that useful if it dictates your tone for you. Plus I'm not so sure that you're going to use that for your live rig.
Hate to break it to you but this is sped up, sorry pal try again next time, check mate. If the earth is round why are fret boards flat?? Hmm that’s right no quick answer, do your research next time bub
@@CharlieRobbins hey man, nice vid, but are you on aderall in this vid? Not joking genuine concern. I hope youre doing well. Speed is shit, go green or trip hard to kick your addictions =)
